Chapter 111: The Killing God Domain
As Yang Potian continued forward along the path, he finally reached a critical point.
A massive serpent's head appeared ahead. This serpent's body featured nine prominent bulges along its head and back, each one resembling a blood-red mushroom with veins of blood visibly pulsing inside. Its midsection was particularly large, bulging over the narrow path, and its full length extended well over ten meters.
This was undoubtedly the legendary Ten-Headed Fiery Sun Serpent, the most formidable creature on the Path of Hell.
Before Yang Potian could close the twenty-meter distance between them, the serpent launched a sudden attack, spewing a fiery red blast from its mouth. A foul stench accompanied the flame as it shot toward him at an alarming speed.
Yang Potian immediately executed Flash Strike, appearing right in front of the serpent and thrusting his Soul-Breaking Spear towards it. However, despite the speed and intensity of his assault, the serpent twisted its massive body to dodge with surprising agility.
In a split second, the serpent's massive tail whipped toward him with a force so powerful that it tore through the air with explosive sounds.
Yang Potian gritted his teeth, gripped his spear tightly, and met the serpent's tail with a fierce stab. A sharp clash rang out as the serpent's scales received a small but deep cut, forcing the creature to recoil.
Yet Yang Potian was also forced to step back from the impact. The Ten-Headed Fiery Sun Serpent's strength was even greater than he had anticipated, and its defense was formidable. Judging by its power, it was at least comparable to a 50,000-year spirit beast.
Not only was its defense impenetrable, with tightly woven scales across its entire body, but ordinary attacks would barely scratch it.
Realizing he was in grave danger and that he had no allies in sight, Yang Potian made a split-second decision. His back glowed, and a pair of wings sprouted—his external spirit bone: Tiger-Eagle Wings.
With a powerful beat of his wings, Yang Potian took to the skies. The Ten-Headed Fiery Sun Serpent hissed and roared in fury at the sight of his wings, thrashing in anger below.
In this strange standoff, the two clashed like a predator and prey—a serpent and an eagle locked in deadly combat.
With each exchange, Yang Potian left more wounds on the serpent's body. Meanwhile, his Tiger-Eagle Wings allowed him to evade most of the serpent's attacks with ease.
The serpent, realizing it was at a disadvantage, coiled its body tightly, clearly preparing to unleash a devastating strike on the narrow path itself, hoping to send him plummeting.
Yang Potian anticipated this and immediately launched Flash Strike again, appearing directly in front of the serpent's eye—the beast's obvious weak spot. It tried to guard with its tail, but Yang Potian seized the opportunity and thrust his spear forward, unleashing countless spear projections in rapid succession.
This was the third move in his Soul-Breaking Nine Techniques: Ten Thousand Blades Converge.
A barrage of spear projections merged into a single, immense strike, piercing through the serpent's head and tail, shattering them into countless fragments.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Yang Potian landed back on the path, his heart calming slightly—the most formidable creature on the Path of Hell had finally been defeated.
From the remains of the Ten-Headed Fiery Sun Serpent, a brilliant red orb flew up into the air. This was the serpent's core—a fiery inner elixir.
Quickly, Yang Potian snatched it up. Despite the intense heat radiating from the elixir that singed his hand, he stored it in his spirit tool, undeterred by the burn.
In the world of Douluo, treasures like this elixir were extremely rare. In the original story, this elixir had transformed Ma Hongjun's spirit, the Evil Fire Phoenix, into a Seven-Headed Fire Phoenix. When he reached the hundredth level, it evolved once more, becoming a Ten-Headed Fire Phoenix.
This demonstrated the incredible power of the Ten-Headed Fiery Sun Serpent's core, a treasure that defied the limits of Douluo Continent.
Yang Potian wondered if using this elixir as the first ring for his true body spirit might trigger a third Golden Awakening or give his spirit an unparalleled fire attribute.
Regardless, this was a treasure of immense value.
After securing the elixir, the entire Path of Hell began to collapse. Yang Potian, realizing the danger, flapped his Tiger-Eagle Wings and sped forward.
The closer he flew toward the path's end, the nearer he was to the Blood Sea below, and the temperature around him surged. His mind wavered slightly, but he forced himself to stay focused and pressed on.
At the edge of the path, Yang Potian paused, staring down at the Blood Sea below.
In the original story, Tang San had used the Scarlet Swan Kiss to destroy the Slaughter City. Now, Yang Potian considered doing the same.
He recalled how Tang San had been hunted by the Slaughter King after returning from Sea God Island. The Slaughter King's true form was Tang Chen, a man of extraordinary strength, nearly insurmountable.
If he destroyed the Slaughter City now, he might also face the Slaughter King's wrath. And if the Slaughter King turned his fury toward the Yang Clan, they would be defenseless against Tang Chen.
After considering his options, Yang Potian sighed and decided not to poison the Blood Sea. Instead, he resumed his flight toward the path's exit.
Ahead was a gateway filled with white light. As he entered, a more intense killing aura enveloped him. His entire body froze in an icy chill, feeling as though it was seeping into his very soul. Gradually, he lost consciousness.
When he finally regained his senses, he was no longer in the Slaughter City. Instead, he found himself surrounded by a lush green forest.
Looking down, he saw his Soul-Breaking Spear already summoned, clutched firmly in his hand.
Yang Potian's Soul-Breaking Spear remained blood-red, but a new marking had appeared on the spear's shaft—a white imprint of a bat. This was the same symbol that had appeared when the Path of Hell first opened, representing none other than the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King.
As Yang Potian focused on the white bat marking, a pale light shone from the spear, casting an intense aura across the entire area. All living things nearby seemed to tremble in fear.
The Killing God Domain—this was it.
Yang Potian could feel the tremendous change. With this Killing God Domain, his Soul-Breaking Spear had grown even more potent, and his Soul-Breaking Nine Techniques would have a doubled power when used alongside the domain.
In fact, he realized he could now fuse the Killing God Domain directly into his Soul-Breaking Nine Techniques. For his enemies, that would be nothing short of devastating.
When Yang Potian focused his consciousness inward, he was taken aback by what he saw. Within his mind's eye, there was a towering silver giant, holding the blood-red Soul-Breaking Spear. But unexpectedly, the Nine-Headed Bat King's mark was not only on the spear—it was also imprinted on the chest of the silver giant itself. How could this be?
Testing a theory, Yang Potian summoned his true body spirit. His entire form turned silver, transforming his arms, face, and even his flesh into a seamless metallic sheen. He felt an unprecedented surge in attack, defense, strength, and speed, making him more powerful than ever.
On his silver skin, he saw the same white bat mark. When he channeled his spirit power into it, the Killing God Domain activated again.
Yang Potian couldn't help but wonder: What's going on here? In the original story, Tang San could only use the Killing God Domain with his Clear Sky Hammer. How is it that both my spirits possess the domain, and even seem to work together? Could there be some loophole in the Killing God Domain?
Unable to find a satisfactory answer, he decided to stop overthinking it and moved on. He found a nearby stream and dove into the water without a second thought.
But as soon as he entered, the water around him turned blood-red, and the fish within scattered in terror, as if they had encountered a fearsome predator.
Yang Potian had intended to catch a small spirit beast to cook, but when he caught a Soft-Boned Rabbit and saw the blood trickling from it, he lost control. His eyes filled with a murderous red, and the Killing God Domain activated of its own accord, drowning his surroundings in bloodlust.
When he finally regained his senses, the Soft-Boned Rabbit was in pieces, utterly obliterated. His surroundings were devastated, with splintered trees and deep scars all around, evidence of the Soul-Breaking Spear's destructive power.
Now, he understood how serious his situation was. He could hardly control the killing intent within him and feared that if this continued, he'd become nothing more than a mindless killing machine.
In the original story, Tang San also struggled to control his temper after acquiring the Killing God Domain. He nearly killed someone who tried to block his path after entering Yuexuan Academy.
Tang San had only managed to stabilize himself because of Tang Yuehua's Noble Domain, which helped him control his inner bloodlust and eventually master the Killing God Domain.
His own situation, however, was far worse than Tang San's. Tang San had the Blue Silver Domain to counterbalance the Killing God Domain, benefiting from the life-giving properties of the Blue Silver Emperor. Furthermore, Tang San possessed a rare 60,000-year-old head spirit bone to stabilize his mind.
But Yang Potian had neither a head spirit bone nor a life-enhancing Blue Silver Domain. Both of his spirits bore the Killing God Domain, intensifying his dilemma.
Now, anyone he saw filled him with a desire to kill. He was irritable, easily angered, and dangerously unpredictable.
He realized he couldn't even safely enter a city in this condition. His best option was to navigate through the forest and return to the Yang Clan, where he could seek his grandfather's advice.
As for seeking guidance from Yuexuan, that was impossible. The Yang Clan had only just managed to distance itself from the Clear Sky Sect, and he wasn't about to reestablish any ties, even for a favor that could potentially drag the entire Yang Clan down with him.
Then he remembered something. He reached into his spirit tool and retrieved a Tranquil Mind Pill, a medicinal creation of the Yang Clan. This pill, made from Moonflower, Luminous Worm, and White Lotus, was designed to calm the mind and dispel mental disturbances.
Yang Potian swallowed the pill, and his mind immediately cleared. Yet he knew relying on these pills was not a long-term solution. Overuse could lead to adverse effects, and any outburst of killing intent after prolonged suppression would be even more uncontrollable.
But for now, he had no choice. He needed to ensure his safety, and he could find a permanent solution once he reached the Yang Clan.
Fortunately, he had a few backup measures as well. Before venturing to the Slaughter City, he had prepared some thousand-year-old Serenity Grass and Star Spirit Herb. These would only be used in dire circumstances.
