Chapter 4
Sebastian
The crowd had been thrown into chaos. Loud and excited chatter rose up from every corner and the flashes of cameras got blinding.
I saw Micheal and my grandfather hobbling up after each other. My grand father's face was set in cold determination as he swiped one man away with a jab to the elbow. He was a sneaky old bastard when he wanted to be. Which was all the time.
The ruckus was closing in on us and I could see Theodosia gasping for breath.
The scene was honestly something straight out of a soap opera.
The writer must be bloodthirsty, because I saw a frazzled woman burst into the hall. A woman who was slightly plumper and with a good deal more gray hair and curses flying around her.
Theodosia's mother.
I hate surprises. I like my fact and statistics to all align and any element of outlier is not allowed.
But the biggest surprise of my life hit me right in the chest when I saw the panic that slowly filled her eyes.
"Theodosia! Breathe," I placed my hand on her elbow.
She jerked away like she's been scorched and her eyes flashed and angry tears streamed down her face.
"Do not lay your filthy hands on me!" She hissed, her fingers poking my nose.
The other lady was beside herself with hysterics.
"Miss! This can't be happening. I must be dreaming." She cried out and flung herself around Theodosia's neck.
I glanced around at the battle that was rapidly closing in on us. My grandfather and Micheal on one hand, Theodosia's mother on the other.
I yanked lady away from her neck and she stumbled and landed on her ass with a loud thunk.
I grabbed Theodosia's elbow once again, and dragged her away.
"We need to get out of this place." I hollered.
"Leave me alone!" She screeched, pinching me hard on the shoulder.
I grunted against the pain and held on fast, my eyes rapidly searching for an exit.
"Miss! Miss! Don't go." The lady was saying. She scrambled to get up but was soon knocked down again by eager crowd.
"Somebody help! My Miss is getting abducted. Help!" She squeaked.
Lord save us from hysterical females.
The two entrances was filled to the brim with reporters and bloggers flanking each side, shouting and wanting to get a better vantage point.
"Fuck!" I groaned.
She was still in my hold when I bent down and carried her on my shoulder.
Her delectable butt nestled close to my mouth.
The noise rose to another degree and I took the opportunity to squeezed through an opening I saw in the back door.
Her fist thumped my back rapidly as she rained meager blows on me.
"Cease that!" I growled, startling a woman into dropping her coffee.
The sight of the groom bundling his bride into the car was enough to have people hanging their heads from their windows and I even got a round of applause and an obnoxious hoot from an old lady.
"Happy honeymooning!" She cheered.
I snapped the door close and entered the car, at the same time my butt collided with something sharp and spiky.
"What the fuck?" I yelled.
"Take me back!" Stab. "Take me back!" Stab. Stab.
I hissed in pain and managed to get the engine ignited as more people rushed into the lobby and the white flashes followed our tail as I reared up dust.
"I can't believe that just happened." I muttered, once we were out on the road and I could freely breath again.
"Why are you in my wedding hall? Where are you here? Why are you even alive, period?" She exploded.
I swallowed the words lodging in my throat, "the same reason why you were there. To get married." I said gruffly.
She scoffed, the sound filling the tense silence.
"Out of all the hotels and halls and venues in the whole world, you had to choose mine? Like, what are the fucking odds?" She said tearily.

The tears continue streaming out of her eyes, the sight of them tearing my own heart into pieces.
I saw the blue sky and the hot glare of the sun and wonder why the universe decided to torture me this way.
Wasn't it enough that I had to let her go the first time? Wasn't it enough that I'll never be the same?
I'll always search for the missing pieces of me?
Those thoughts threatened to overwhelm me. Something that only happen when I'm in her presence. I've always had a good control of my emotions and expressions, tightly keeping them in check.
We sat there, the three of us. Me, Theodosia and the thick uncomfortable silence.
"I've always thought things couldn't get worse for me. But I've always thought wrong. My line of thought should have been something like, 'things couldn't get better, even if I tried." She chuckled mirthlessly.
"We'll get this sorted out, I promise." I told her.
She sniggered under her breath, and it angered me oddly.
"You don't even know what is at stake for my family and I." She squeaked.
"I do not want to get married to you." She paused to stare at my face. "I will not marry you." She said vehemently.
I chuckled darkly and turned to face her, "Isn't that too late, Mrs Delacy?"
The fury in her eyes was comical, and I did not expect the jab in my arm. My grin immediately turn into a grimace.
I've forgotten she had that goddamn pin.
"I'll never be yours, Mr Delacy. The sooner we get that, the easier it'll be for all the party concerned." She asserted with cold fury and determination.
We've never had it easy in our lives. I doubt this would be the beginning.
