Chapter 75 - Chapter 75: Conis resolved!

Everyone on Angel Island stood in stunned silence, staring at the beautiful figure in the sky and the gradually fading pillar of God's Judgement.

A little girl from Blue Sea had transformed into a sandstorm and defeated the divine punishment?!

Vivi raised her head, a confident smile on her face as she looked toward the sky.

"Want to directly confront Ace, our king? This kind of attack doesn't stand a chance!"

"Vivi..."

Conis gazed at the dissipating light beam, speechless.

For so long, Enel's divine punishment had instilled an unshakable fear in the people of Angel Island, one they believed they could never overcome.

Conis knew Ace was powerful. She understood that Enel possessed powers akin to a legendary god, wielding the force of thunder itself. But Ace, with his mastery of fire, held a comparable might.

Throughout history, fire and thunder were both seen as the powers of gods. And no one could definitively say which was stronger.

That was why Conis believed Ace could defeat Enel.

However, what Conis hadn't expected was for Vivi—a girl her own age—to transform into a sandstorm and stop the divine punishment.

Is this the strength that Ace and his crew possess? Conis murmured in disbelief.

Sandstorms are also considered forces of nature, sometimes even associated with divine power in certain cultures.

Could Vivi hold power comparable to Enel?

And Ace is even stronger...

They can do this! They really can defeat Enel!

Suppressing the excitement welling up inside her, Conis clenched her fists.

"This... this is impossible..."

McKinley's eyes widened in shock.

A young girl from Blue Sea had just stopped the divine judgement—a feat that defied belief.

That was supposed to be the power of a god!

For four years, since Enel had defeated the previous ruler and claimed the surrounding islands, no one had been able to oppose him. Anyone who dared disrespect him was swiftly dragged to God's Trial. And if Enel was truly offended, he would reduce them to ashes with the lightning of God's Judgment.

Enel's power had always been regarded as divine, a force beyond human ability. But now, that divine power had been stopped by a mere girl from the Blue Sea.

Had she really turned into a sandstorm? Wasn't that supposed to be the kind of power only gods wielded?

McKinley and the soldiers of the White Beret Corps, who once served under the previous God Gan Fall, were shaken to their core. The world as they understood it was beginning to crumble.

Could it be that Enel's power wasn't absolute? Could others possess powers beyond human limits as well?

Was Enel not a god but simply a human?

Inside the temple, Enel's pupils contracted as he processed what his Heart Network was revealing to him. His disbelief was palpable.

"Logia!" Enel muttered in disbelief, his face twitching. "A Logia user from the Blue Sea!"

The veins on his forehead pulsed as he grappled with the realization.

To Enel, the Logia powers were invincible—untouchable by physical attacks and capable of devastating entire towns with ease. It was the kind of power that forced mortals to pray and tremble in terror.

Logia powers were, without a doubt, godlike in Enel's eyes.

And on Sky Island, Enel had always believed he was the only Logia user, which justified his self-proclaimed status as an omnipotent god.

But now, one of these Blue Sea people also possessed Logia powers.

Could they actually stand against him?

What a joke!

"Calm down. It looks like she has the power of the sand," Enel muttered, starting to regain his composure.

"Hmph, sandstorms are powerful, sure. But I am lightning—the invincible force among Logia users! Sand is nothing in the face of thunder!"

Enel's confidence returned as he smirked. Throughout history, humans have revered and feared thunder, associating it with divine wrath. In comparison, what could a sandstorm hope to achieve?

"Soon, that little girl will meet the fate all challengers face."

Suddenly, Enel's attention shifted. His Heart Network alerted him to a disturbance—the people of Sandia were launching an attack on the ancient holy land, the Upper Yard.

"How timely..."

Enel's face darkened with annoyance.

Just as these Blue Sea people appeared, the Sandians decided to rise up?

"Hmph, let the priests and divine soldiers handle Sandia," Enel muttered. To him, they were mere mortals—nothing worth worrying about.

"These Blue Sea people, however... I'll deal with them myself."

With that, Enel's body crackled with lightning, and he vanished in a burst of electric energy, issuing commands for Upper Yard to become a battleground.

Back on the Avenue of Angels, Vivi transformed from wind and sand into her human form, landing beside Ace. She smiled sweetly, catching the approving glint in his eyes.

Ace's grip on Conis's hand tightened, and she looked up at him, finding encouragement in his gaze. Her heart swelled with determination.

Ace had done all this for her—so that everyone could witness that Enel's power could be defeated!

Taking a deep breath, Conis turned to face the people of Angel Island.

"Everyone! Enel only has his power because he ate a magical fruit called Thunder Devil Fruit. He is nothing more than a human!"

Conis spread her arms wide, her voice ringing with conviction.

"My companions possess the power of four different Devil Fruits. We 'can' defeat Enel!"

The people of Angel Island exchanged shocked glances. Could it be true? Could their god, Enel, really owe his power to a mere fruit?

The memory of the recent battle lingered in their minds. But despite the powerful display, the four years of fear under Enel's rule weighed heavily on them.

"Everyone..." Conis's voice softened as she saw hesitation in their eyes. She bit her lip, uncertain if her words had reached them.

Ace, observing the crowd, turned his attention to McKinley.

"Your name is McKinley, right?" he asked calmly.

"Y-Yes!" McKinley stammered, straightening up nervously. This man was clearly the leader of the group, stronger even than the girl who had defeated God's Judgement.

"Right now, Enel can't sense what's happening in this area. If you have anything to say, say it now."

"Enel... can't sense us?" McKinley's eyes widened. The realization dawned on him. No matter how much Conis had blasphemed earlier, Enel hadn't unleashed his judgement.

Could it really be possible? Could they defeat Enel?

After a brief silence, McKinley gathered his resolve and shouted, "Everyone! Conis is right. We weren't always like this! Because we feared Enel's power, we've deceived people into facing God's Trial and sent them to their deaths."

He paused, his voice trembling with emotion.

"Do we still have the kindness and unity that once defined Angel Island? If these people can truly defeat Enel, shouldn't we do our part too?"

Tears welled in his eyes as he looked up at the sky, expecting divine retribution.

But nothing happened.

The people of Angel Island, torn between fear and hope, exchanged uncertain glances.

Conis, her heart heavy, looked around at her fellow islanders, wishing they could find the courage to resist.

Even now, at the brink of liberation, they remained too afraid to take a stand against Enel.

"If you are weak, fear will consume you. If you are weak, you will grow numb," Ace said calmly, his voice steady.

Conis' delicate body trembled, something flickering behind her beautiful eyes—fear, uncertainty, perhaps both.

"But you're different, Conis," Ace continued, his tone softening. "You have a strong heart, and I can help you become stronger."

He gently brushed Conis' blonde hair aside, smiling down at her.

"Ace..." Conis whispered, her voice catching as she lifted her tear-filled eyes to meet his gentle gaze.

"Let's defeat Enel together. If you want to save Angel Island, I'll make sure you do."

Ace wrapped his arms around her, offering comfort and strength with a light smile.

"Yes!" Conis nodded firmly, a new determination forming deep within her.

From behind them, McKinley, unable to hold back his emotions, shouted towards the people of Angel Island. Tears streamed down his face, fists clenched tight.

"Now is the time! Conis and her companions have blocked Enel from sensing us! At least... at least say something for her!" His voice cracked as he called out.

"Come on! Conis!"

The other members of the White Berets joined in, their voices choked with tears, though too afraid to fight themselves.

"Conis! You've got this!"

Her father, Pagaya, yelled from a distance, his face filled with a bittersweet smile. He had seen everything unfold and knew Conis was in good hands with Ace.

"Father..." Conis stifled a sob, covering her lips with her hand, but didn't turn back.

The people of Angel Island were silent at first, but soon scattered voices began to rise in support of Conis.

In Ace's arms, Conis shook, tears streaming down her pretty face. 'I will get stronger,' she vowed to herself, 'strong enough to protect everyone on Angel Island so that they will never be numb again.'

"Ace... can I join you?" Conis asked, lifting her tear-stained face, hope and resolve shining through her sadness.

Ace's smile widened. "Of course. Welcome to the crew, my musician."

As Ace held her, a strange light flickered around his hands.

"I'll help you become strong, Conis. You have great potential."

Conis closed her eyes, feeling her understanding of music deepening, almost as if a new realm had opened within her.

Suddenly, from the sky, a strange fruit fell, resembling an apple covered in mysterious patterns.

"The Paramecia-type Vocal Fruit..." Ace muttered, reading the words that flashed through his mind. He picked up the fruit and handed it to Conis.

"Eat this. It's a Devil Fruit. Once you've eaten it, your music will become your most powerful weapon."

Conis stared at the strange fruit in her hand. Her eyes sparkled with a mixture of curiosity and awe.

'This is a Devil Fruit…' Enel's strength came from one, and Vivi had gained powers strong enough to resist lightning from hers. Could she become just as powerful?

Without hesitation, she peeled the skin and took a bite. Instantly, the bitter and unknown taste made her wince, her face turning pale.

"Is it really that awful?" Nami asked with a shiver, watching Conis' reaction, knowing her own turn with a Devil Fruit would come soon.

Conis looked down at her hands in wonder. "I... I think I can control the sound now."

Ace nodded. "That's right. Your music will now hold incredible power. I'll help you hone this ability. You'll become the best musician in the world."

He smiled warmly, brushing her hair again.

The girls around them smiled too, welcoming her into the crew.

"Thank you," Conis said, wiping the last of her tears away and nodding.

"But, Ace," Nami interjected, "how are we going to get to Upper Yard? Without wind or currents, we can't sail there, right?"

Ace chuckled. "Don't worry. My ship can sail anywhere."

"The Going Merry?" Nami looked doubtful. "But there's no way it can move under these conditions."

Ace smiled. "Watch."

He stepped towards the side of the cloud island and called out loudly, "Merry!"

To the amazement of everyone, the ship appeared from the distant horizon, gliding across the sea without wind or waves to carry it. What stunned them more was the small, translucent, elf-like figure standing on the bow.

"Is that...?" Robin murmured in disbelief, recalling an old legend.

Ace laughed. "Yes, our ship has given birth to a spirit. This is Merry."

The elf, looking like a little girl, waved to the crew.

"Merry!" Kaya gasped, covering her mouth in awe. The ship had developed its own consciousness, born from their love and care.

"Ace, everyone!" Merry greeted them, her voice light and airy.

"Let's go, Merry," Ace said. "We're headed to Upper Yard."

Merry's form shimmered with resolve. "As long as it's where you want to go, Ace, I'll take you there!"

With incredible speed, the ship began to move, faster than any ordinary vessel.

The girls stood in awe as they sailed towards their goal, the silhouette of Upper Yard growing closer on the horizon.

The hunt for the Thunder Fruit had begun!
