Akemi Pov
My baby is growing up too fast!
I watched him take his first steps, and it seemed like yesterday! His tiny legs were wobbling as he struggled to gain balance to avoid falling over. He was so cute. I almost just wanted to curl him up in my arms and tightly hold on to him and never let go.
All the time, he's tried to eat his food at the table, but instead he makes a big mess, and I couldn't help but enjoy every second of watching him. His favorite thing to eat was mashed potatoes. Sometimes with the way he ate, I could only think of how he took that from his father; his father is a big messy eater, and I think my little Iggy is starting to adopt his bad habits, but I don't mind.
Only since he's so adorable. I can't say it enough!
My little Iggy, my little Iggy, my little Iggy, my adorable little baby Iggy!
I couldn't help but recall all of the things we've done and things that are yet to come. I sit there, continuing to think about my little birthday boy! I mean, he's already seven years old! I love him so much!
My husband and Stella were in the center of the room, Kaiyo being slightly tipsy—ugh, I placed my palm across my face, shaking my head—and only off, not even a bottle of wine, but he's my husband, not so perfect, but perfect for me. He was dancing around, trying to persuade me to join him. I couldn't help but be slightly embarrassed with Stella standing around, trying to keep him balanced. "Come on, honey, come dance with me," he says as his body slowly sways to each side. I grasped his hand and just sighed. "Dar—" a wave of unease passed over me as I extended my hand to grasp his. Kai was just looking silly, but in an instant, his expression changed, so I'm sure my face looked as if I'd seen a ghost. "Honey, what's wrong?" I wasn't sure if that was just an oddity or if I was exaggerating too much.
Before I could say anything he felt it.
He dashed off, rushing for Igris, and Stella and I followed in instinctive order. I could hear Kaiyo muttering something as we ran. I thought it would be an enchantment enhancement to protect his body from whatever to come, but no. It was a barrier that enclosed Stella, and I, "Kaiyo, why?" I yelled in disbelief, asking him why he had done this, but he remained silent and unwavering in his resolve to make it to Igris, our son.
My heart plummeted when the house burst into flames due to an explosion.
So many different thoughts began racing through my head, but the most important one was Igris. I knew Kaiyo would've been able to survive this explosion, but for Igris, who hasn't awakened, no.
He was on the second floor, and I'm sure nothing remained standing in this house despite the explosion producing a smoke screen.
I had almost broken into a fit of tears knowing that I could have lost my dear baby, Iggy; there's no might, I would have. I feel my knees begin to give out as I use the barrier to support myself, and Stella is devastated. I turn my head to see her gripping her lower garments so fiercely that I can hear the very fabric begin to tear as tears stream down her cheek.
As each second passed, every second felt like an hour, I couldn't do anything, but hope. After what felt like an eternity, I saw two shadows appear walking through the dying down smokescreen.
