Her voice was flat, almost emotionless.

Then, sighing, he nodded again.
"Yeah, I did."
For a long moment, the girl said nothing.
Then, slowly, she bit her pale lip.
A slender hand brushed against her cheek.
And then—
Her entire face shifted.
The delicate beauty vanished, replaced by the pale-faced man from yesterday's battle.
Luke felt his eye twitch.
"Alright," the now-masculine Elias Vaughn said. "I understand. Remember to visit me at Arcadia Academy."
