Chapter 1 - Ruins

"Friend, today we are going to have a lot of fun."

"Yes, he is right."

Today all the students of the college were brought on a picnic to some old historical buildings outside the city, some of which have become ruins. Everyone started roaming around. The teacher said to them

"You can roam comfortably in your own groups for a little distance, but come back after hearing the sound of a whistle. After having food here, we will go to college."

Everyone started roaming around in different groups. One group reached an old building built a little distance from there. It was an old mansion. There was a rumor about that building that strange sounds come from it at night. Some people have seen someone flying there. Some say that someone has heard someone crying there. Everyone was saying something or the other. One of them said

"What, why don't you say that this place is a little scary?"

So the other one said

"Yes, he is right, and I believe that some people come here for adventure or to complete their dare."

"After having food, when we go back, we are going to have dinner together. Let's do this; each one of us will go inside this building for 15 minutes, and till the time is over, whoever stays there and comes out without screaming or fainting, we will pay his fare and also pay for the food."

At first no one agreed, but then everyone agreed and started thinking.

"Who will go first?"

Lily, who is a miserly girl, was very happy to hear this condition. She thought

"I will not have to pay for the food."

Ava did not like this suggestion at all. But what could she say? Everyone had decided. Before anyone else could talk about going inside. Lily said

"I will go first."

She said to her close friend Bobby,

"Why don't I go first?"

Bobby said,

"You? Let it be. You will get scared. Can't you see what kind of place this is?"

Lily said,

"If you don't leave it, you will save money on food."

Bobby said,

"What a miser you are. Think once again."

She said,

"I have thought about it."

Who could stop her, and she started the timer and went inside.

Lily started roaming around inside. She reached a place where there was very little light. She saw that there were many statues kept there whose carvings were very beautiful. Then her eyes fell on a statue that was of a boy. There was no other statue near it. It was not a statue; it was something else. Hearing a sound, she opened her eyes, and Lily got scared seeing it. Its eyes were yellow in color. Lily screamed loudly. She tried to say something but was unable to speak. She was convinced that this mansion really has ghosts, and today she is in trouble. When he came close to her, seeing his sharp teeth, Lily started shouting and calling her friends.

Bobby got worried on hearing her voice and said to everyone

"We should go inside to help her."

Everyone started refusing because there might be a ghost inside, and if Lily is with him, then it would be dangerous for anyone to go inside, but Ava understood the problem and said

"We should find Lily. If we go inside together, no one can harm us. We should go to find Lily."

After a lot of convincing, everyone reluctantly agreed to find Lily. Everyone went inside and started looking for Lily.

Meanwhile, Ava also reached the same hall while searching for Lily. Where Lily had reached earlier. Ava's eyes also fell on those statues. She too was mesmerized by seeing the artistry of those statues. She started looking at the statues very carefully. There was not much light there, but still, those statues were looking very beautiful. Then her eyes fell on someone.

It seemed as if someone was crying with his face buried in his knees. A soft sound of sobs was coming from there. Ava went close to him. She saw that whoever it was, he was not wearing anything on his upper body. His physique was good. She thought that maybe he had also come here for a stroll and got lost while roaming around. Ava put her hand on his shoulder. As soon as he turned, Ava got scared seeing him.

Whoever it was, it did not look human at least. His yellow eyes were very different. Along with that, she could also see his pointed teeth sticking out and blood tears were flowing from his eyes. There were strange marks on his body.

Seeing him, Ava got scared and moved back a little, then that strange person caught her hand. He had held her hand very tightly. His nails were very big. He said to Ava

"Wait for a while."

He looked a little weak.

"I want to talk to you about something."

Ava was not able to say anything due to fear. She started having trouble breathing. She tried to free her hand, but that creature was holding Ava's hand so tightly that its nails were hurting Ava. Just then she heard the voice of her companions.

"We have found Lily."

"Everyone come out quickly."

"We will be late."

"Leave quickly… Something might go wrong."

Ava tried to free her hand once again. Just then the voice of her companions came

"Hey, has everyone come?"

"I cannot see Ava."

"Find her…"

Hearing this, Ava turned towards that creature; there were light tears in her eyes. She looked very carefully into his eyes. She did not know what she saw. When she brought her face close to his hand, he immediately left Ava's hand. She ran away from there. Her other friends were about to go back inside for her.

"I have come."

"Where did you take so long?"

Her best friend Hazel asked.

"Nothing; I just forgot the way."

She saw that Lily was crying badly. "There is a demon inside..."

Lily was still crying. Bobby consoled her and said

"It's okay. You have come out now."

Lily said while crying.

"No. There was something ghost-like inside that was trying to kill me... It was very scary. It had scary eyes.

She started crying again. Ava understood by listening to her that Lily had gone to the same room where she had gone. There were many statues. She changed the topic and said

"There was nothing like that there. I also went to the same room. There were many statues there. Very beautiful… and their carvings were very fine, so maybe you must have mistaken seeing a statue."

"It was real."

"No, it is not like that."

She said while hiding the injury on her hand.

That creature was watching everyone from a big window built there. Its senses are very good, so it easily heard everyone, including Lily.
