Chereads / After Remarrying the Tyrant, I Conquer the World / Chapter 8 - The Duel between the Tyrant and the Captain of the Knights

Chapter 8 - The Duel between the Tyrant and the Captain of the Knights

"The essence of magic lies in the control of elements."

While reading the content in the book, Gwen conjured a small, crystal-clear ice flower at her fingertip.

"My ice magic works by lowering the temperature of water vapor and turning it into ice for application."

Lancaster understood.

He gathered his magic power and a thin streak of lightning emerged from his fingertip.

The lightning danced nimbly.

With another jump, it unexpectedly gently wrapped around that delicate little ice flower, making Gwen's fingertip tingle for a moment.

"I haven't told you to practice yet."

Gwen gave him a reproachful glance and dispersed the lightning entwined around her fingertips.

"So, my lightning magic is to manipulate the lightning in nature?"

Lancaster leaned lazily against the back of the chair.

"Theoretically, yes. But the electricity in nature is too weak. I think what you need to master is how to gather the weak and scattered electricity into a more powerful force."

"However, this is just my personal understanding. When we return to the capital, I can find you a better magic teacher."

Gwen seemed lost in thought.

Lancaster didn't expect Gwen to see through the bottleneck in his magic at a glance.

He used to think that it was because of his low magic talent that he couldn't cast more powerful magic.

Lightning magic was an extremely rare type of magic talent, and there were few materials for reference, which made him grope in the dark for a long time without finding a way.

"Interesting."

He murmured softly, and his gaze towards Gwen changed.

Gwen propped her chin on her hand and closed the book.

"We've finished learning the theory."

One of the courses she hated the most at the noble academy was the boring magic theory.

What she had just taught Lancaster was just the first sentence at the beginning of the advanced magic theory course.

She had her own understanding of Lancaster's lightning magic and didn't need to follow the textbook completely.

Returning to the basics, that first sentence she had just mentioned was enough.

The rest could be gradually understood in actual combat.

After all, when Dean taught her magic in the past, he had never taught any magic theory.

Her dear uncle Dean had thrown her, who was only three years old at that time, into the snow.

She shivered from the cold, and her tears froze into ice fragments.

In such a desperate situation, she "taught herself" and quickly learned how to use ice magic to protect herself from freezing to death.

Then Dean carried her, who was weeping, back and announced to the royal court that the First Princess had learned ice magic.

Once the news spread, the whole country celebrated.

Who would have known that her ice magic was actually forced out by her dear uncle through freezing her?

Those memories were too painful to look back on.

She rubbed her forehead.

"If you don't want to destroy the Wismin Palace, we'd better practice outdoors."

Unfortunately, she soon discovered that although Lancaster was a half-baked amateur magician, his fighting style was a bit too violent!

After Lancaster enchanted "Stormbringer" on the majestic dual-wielded long swords, the cold light mixed with electric light.

With just one slash, he almost cut a tree ten feet away in half.

If your magic isn't good enough, use close combat instead?

Lancaster was completely a melee mage!

Gwen didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Fortunately, it wasn't her fighting against Lancaster.

However, her knight captain was having a hard time.

She watched Lancaster and Eli's fight with a bit of schadenfreude.

Eli: Wasn't this supposed to be a magic sparring?

Lancaster's swordsmanship was extraordinary and fierce.

"Stormbringer" as a dual-wielded long sword with great power, even Eli didn't dare to take it head-on and could only dodge first.

The magic aura on his sword was clearly very weak.

As long as he kept his distance and didn't let Lancaster get close, it would be okay.

Eli dodged again, and black light gathered in his palm.

"Oh?"

"Stormbringer" briefly stopped in mid-air.

Lancaster gracefully and nimbly twirled his longsword with his left hand and then sheathed it.

Finally willing to stop using swordsmanship and martial arts?

Gwen straightened up and watched intently.

Lancaster couldn't possibly defeat Eli.

Eli's strength was so formidable that he can rank among the kingdom knights of Linsey.

Otherwise, he couldn't have become her knight captain.

"I didn't expect that Her Highness the Princess's knight captain used dark magic."

Lancaster gave Eli a deep look.

Eli remained silent and didn't respond.

He was a dark magician with an "A"-level magic talent.

Having magic talent was a good thing.

But having dark magic talent was a different story.

Dark magicians had always been associated with misfortune, disaster, and death.

They were the least welcomed magicians in the world.

It was quite a strange thing that a dark magician could become a kingdom knight and even the knight captain of the princess.

"Where there is light, there is darkness. It's not unusual."

Gwen said casually, supporting Eli.

"Eli, don't hold back against him."

"Yes, Your Highness."

Suddenly, the shadow behind Lancaster surged like a tide and turned into numerous black shadow blades, which rushed towards Lancaster's chest at an extremely fast speed!

So fast!

Lancaster was startled.

He barely managed to turn sideways and bend down to avoid the fierce attack of the shadow blades.

Unable to dodge completely, his right cheek was scratched, and blood slowly seeped out from the wound.

Instinctively, he wanted to draw his sword, but found that the hilt had been frozen by a thin layer of ice and couldn't be pulled out.

"Use magic."

Gwen was merciless.

"You've already seen my sincerity. Now, let me see how capable you really are."

Lancaster gave her a sidelong glance, and lightning gathered in his palm.

"The essence of magic is the control of elements."

Gwen's clear words just now appeared in his mind at the right time.

His eyes darkened as he stared at those several temporarily "quiet" shadow blades.

Eli's shadow blades were like living creatures.

They shunned the sunlight and surged in the shadows of the forest.

He needed more lightning elements.

And the place with the most abundant and violent lightning elements was naturally the clouds.

Unfortunately, it was a cloudless sunny day today.

How should he deal with it?

Gwen bit her lower lip gently, already prepared to separate the two in time.

Although she had told Eli not to hold back, dark magic was notoriously difficult to control…

It was just a sparring match.

She didn't want anything unexpected to happen to either of them.

"Your Highness, who do you think will win?"

Meryl asked curiously, craning her neck to watch.

"Until the end, no one can guess the result."

Gwen smiled.

"But I believe in someone's potential."

Lancaster didn't make a move.

The lightning flashing in his palm still seemed so weak that it posed no threat to Eli.

Eli's eyes were full of vigilance.

He tentatively sent out several shadow blades, but Lancaster dodged them all.

Judging from the situation on the field, Lancaster was at a disadvantage and was almost completely suppressed by Eli.

"Someone valued by Her Highness won't only have this level of strength."

Eli thought to himself.

"I'd better be careful."

"Your physical skills are good."

He rotated his wrist and said to Lancaster.

"Even well-trained soldiers would find it hard to dodge my shadow blades."

"The knight captain's dark magic is really powerful."

Lancaster touched the wound on his face with his fingertip and wiped it.

The blood extended from his cheek to the corner of his eye.

Paired with his deep green pupils, a dangerous aura spread.

Meryl thought to herself: Won't this guy be disfigured? If he's disfigured, how can he be worthy of Her Highness?

She stared at Lancaster's face more nervously than anyone else.

Well, fortunately, the scar wasn't too deep and should be able to be healed.

Eli stared at Lancaster's intimidating eyes, wondering what he was planning.

Anyway, he couldn't just sit and wait for death.

Taking the initiative to attack was the best defense.

He looked up.

In his eyes, a faint diamond-shaped magic array appeared.

"Thousand Blades."

Suddenly, in the forest clearing where they were, all the shadows of the objects instantly turned into extremely sharp black blades.

"Is he using this move?"

Gwen was surprised.

Well, he really thought highly of Lancaster.

"I always feel that when the knight captain uses magic, he's really scary."

Meryl sighed, her palms soaked with cold sweat.

Indeed.

On ordinary days, although Eli was aloof, his face still looked gentle.

His straight light chestnut hair obediently lay on his forehead, and his pair of brown pupils were also warm and gentle.

Dark magic made his whole body surrounded by a thick black-purple aura, adding a bit of evilness.

When Gwen found Eli, he was almost completely consumed by that out-of-control dark power.

His face was pale, and he was struggling and huddled in a dirty corner of the slum.

But he still tried hard to stay awake and didn't want to hurt anyone.

Every time Gwen approached him, he would shrink back, afraid of hurting her.

From that moment on, Gwen understood that although Eli's magic was dark, his heart was pure.
