Meileen and Erin had him cornered, their wide eyes demanding answers.
"Kier, what did you mean about Lady Cheska?" Meileen asked, arms crossed, her expression serious.
"She didn't seem like a bad person…" Erin added, her gaze moving back and forth between the two. "She was polite and always wore a smile. She even made sure our plates were full during the picnic."
"Yeah! Maybe she just prefers being around adults?" Meileen reasoned. "I mean, I do that too. I'm closer to Erin, so I don't really talk to older people much either!"
Kier hesitated.
Their words made sense— so why did he feel so unsettled?
