It didn't escape many that the departure date aligned perfectly after Prince Kayer's birthday, though the gathering to celebrate had been intimate— modest by royal standards.
Out in the courtyard, the knights sparred in preparation for the journey ahead, their laughter carrying through the brisk winter air.
"Look at that," Reymond gestured toward Kayer, his eyes narrowing with appreciation. Kayer stood by the armory, adjusting the pristine scabbard resting at his hip. "It looks great, no?"
