Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Awakening Shadows

My dad came back into the room, and this time, my mom was with him. As soon as she saw me, she rushed over, her hands touching my face and brushing my hair gently. She looked really worried, like she was about to cry.

"I came as soon as I heard," she said, her voice shaking. "Are you okay? What happened?"

I nodded a little, trying to show her I was fine, but inside, I still didn't really understand what was going on. My dad stayed by the door, watching us. He looked serious, like he wanted to say something but didn't know how.

My mom held my hand really tight, like she was scared of losing me. Her grip was warm but shaky, and I could feel how nervous she was. The room was quiet except for her soft breathing, and I felt like there was something big they weren't telling me.

I looked at them both, confused and scared. Whatever this was, it wasn't just about me anymore. It felt much bigger.

"I'm sorry, Mom. I'm okay now, please don't worry," I said. I felt bad because I could see how scared she was. Her face looked so sad, and it made me feel worse.

Mom touched my face gently and said, "I can't help it, you're my child. I'll always worry about you." Her voice sounded soft but full of feelings.

I held her hand and said, "I promise I'll be more careful." I hoped saying this would make her feel better.

She nodded, but she still looked worried. I knew just saying sorry wasn't enough to make her stop worrying.

I took a deep breath. I was scared to ask, but I knew I had to. Mom was already so worried, but this felt like the right time since she and Dad were both here.

I looked at them, my hands shaking a little. "Mom, Dad," I said slowly, trying not to sound scared. "What's happening to me? Please tell me the truth."

They looked at each other, their faces serious. The room went quiet, and I waited, hoping they would finally explain everything.

"Agness, sweetheart, we never wanted to keep things from you. It's just... we didn't know how to explain everything. We wanted to protect you." Mom said trying to explain. But Dad suddenly cut her.

"No, it's time she knows. Agness, the truth is, you're not just any ordinary person." Dad said, decided that he dont want to hide anything from me

"What your father means is, there's something different about you, something we've known for years, but never shared with you. We thought we were keeping you safe." Mom said, with warmth in her eyes. I knew that they were just really trying to protect me from the start, however doing that will not always make me out of danger.

dad continued what he was saying earlier. "You're connected to something ancient, something powerful. Your bloodline is linked to vampires, Agness." hearing this made me speechless. like I cant believe what I just heard. Vampires?

Mom saw my reaction and said "It's hard to explain, but you've always been more than you thought. We didn't want to tell you too soon, but now… now it's time."

Dad pauses, looking at me seriously "You've always had these abilities, Agness. The changes you've been noticing—they're part of it."

Mom reaching out to me "We're here for you, no matter what. We just want you to understand the truth."

"Wait, so you're telling me I have vampire blood? How did this happen? And what do you mean by ancient? Are you talking about our ancestors?" I asked, my voice shaky and my mind spinning. I was so confused by what they had just said. It didn't make sense, and I couldn't wrap my head around it.

"The story was told to us by our ancestors, passed down for a long time," Dad said slowly, like he was trying to explain something really hard. "At first, I didn't believe it. It didn't make sense. No one in our family ever showed anything strange. It was just a story... until..." He paused, his eyes looking far away like he was remembering something. "Until your mom gave birth to you."

I felt my stomach drop. "What do you mean, Dad? What does this have to do with me?" I asked, my voice shaking.

He looked at Mom, then back at me. "It's your blood, Agness. You were born with something different. Something special. The blood of our ancestors... it's in you."

Mom spoke softly, "We didn't believe it at first, either. But as you grew up and we saw things change, we couldn't ignore it. The things happening to you now—they're because of this."

I stared at them, my heart pounding. "Wait, are you saying I have... vampire blood? That I'm some kind of vampire?" The words felt so wrong coming out of my mouth.

Dad nodded slowly. "Yes, Agness. But it's not like in movies or stories. It's real. And it's dangerous."

"Also, when you were born, there was this glowing mark on your neck," Mom said, her voice soft but filled with worry. She glanced at Dad like she was looking for support. "It was a circle, and inside it were strange symbols. We didn't know what it meant, but it faded after a while."

I blinked, trying to process her words.

Mom shook her head slightly. "We didn't understand them. They weren't like anything we had seen before. We even showed it to experts, but no one could explain it."

"I know what that mark looks like," I said, my voice trembling slightly. "It's the one I saw... when I was looking at myself in the mirror before I went to school."

Mom and Dad exchanged a worried glance. Mom reached out for my hand, but I pulled back, overwhelmed.

"You've seen it?" Dad asked, his voice tense. "Agness, when did this happen?"

"Just this morning," I replied, my hands shaking. "I thought I was imagining things, but it was there. A circle with strange symbols inside it. I didn't know what it meant."

Mom's eyes filled with fear, and she whispered, "It's starting."

"What's starting?" I demanded, my voice rising. "What is happening to me?"

Dad sighed deeply, rubbing his temples. "That mark isn't just a symbol, Agness. It's a sign. It means that the dormant part of your DNA is waking up. The vampire bloodline in you… it's becoming active."

My knees felt weak, and I sank onto the couch. "This can't be real. Vampires? Bloodlines? Marks? How is this even possible?"

Mom knelt beside me, her voice soft but urgent. "Sweetheart, we've been trying to keep this from you because we wanted you to have a normal life. But we knew this day might come. The mark is proof. It means you're changing."

Dad stepped in, his voice calm but serious. "That mark is connected to your bloodline, Agness. It's not just random. It appeared because of who you are. But we didn't want to scare you, so we never told you."

I touched my neck instinctively, feeling chills. "And you think this... glowing mark... is proof that I'm part of some ancient vampire bloodline?"

Mom nodded, her face still filled with concern. "It's a sign, Agness. A sign of what's inside you."

I stared at them, my head spinning. This wasn't just a bad dream; it was my reality.

Back to Professor Jullian's Lab... Professor Jullian grabbed the edge of his desk to stop his hands from shaking. Everything felt wrong. "Why are you here? What do you want from me?" he asked.

The man in the shadows stepped closer. His face was sharp, and his glowing eyes seemed to pierce right through Jullian. "Agness is in danger," the man said in a deep voice. "Her awakening has begun. You need to help her."

Jullian's face twisted with confusion. "Awakening? Danger? What does that even mean?"

"Her DNA," the man said firmly. "It holds power that hasn't been seen in centuries. That power has now awakened. Others will come for her. Dangerous beings that want to control her—or kill her."

Jullian couldn't believe what he was hearing. "She's just a normal girl!" he said, almost yelling.

"She's not," the man replied coldly. "Her bloodline is ancient, tied to the first vampire. The mark on her neck isn't just decoration—it's a sign of her power. And it's like a beacon. It's calling others to her."

"A beacon for what?" Jullian asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

The man's eyes seemed to glow brighter. "A beacon for those who want her power. If you don't protect her, she'll be taken—or destroyed."

Jullian's heart raced. "But why me? I'm just a scientist! I don't know how to protect anyone from... vampires!"

"She trusts you," the man said simply. "You've studied her. You understand what's happening to her. Teach her what she is before it's too late."

"I don't know how!" Jullian said, feeling helpless.

"You'll figure it out," the man replied. "But you need to start now. Time is running out."

Jullian stared at the man, but before he could say another word, the man melted back into the shadows. It was like he was never there. The lab was silent again.

Jullian looked down at the DNA results on his desk. The word "vampire" stood out like a warning. Agness wasn't just a student. She was something special—and dangerous.

He took a deep breath. If what the man said was true, everything was about to change. And Agness was at the center of it all.
