As the group made their way through the dense forest, the priest decided to break the silence that had settled between them. His voice, calm but laced with a tinge of pride, carried easily in the quiet.
"I've been with the temple since I was just a boy," he began, his eyes focused ahead as they walked. "I was born a noble, actually, but my life took a different turn when the temple discovered my divine affinity."
Rui, who had been walking beside Fenrir, glanced at the priest with genuine curiosity. "A noble? Then why did you leave that life?"
The priest gave a small, almost wistful smile. "My family believed it was an honor for me to serve the temple. My concentration of divine power was… rare, they said. Too rare to waste on a noble's duties."
Fenrir remained silent, his sharp eyes flickering with amusement as he listened. Rui, however, felt a pang of sympathy. "That must have been difficult. To leave your family and everything you knew behind."
