Chapter 18 - Epilogue

The girl sat on the wall, happily swinging her legs and looking at the people who were walking. Each of them seemed happy, especially when they walked alongside their other half.

Chloe was only now able to see the happiness written on other people's faces, and to smile herself and say to herself that her life had finally become trouble-free. For many months, she had been able to be cheerful, to enjoy the smallest thing, and above all to love.

Once, this would have been unthinkable for her. She owed everything to her angel, who extended a helping hand to her.

She smiled and took from him the cotton candy he had bought for her. Furthermore, she didn't have the pleasure of eating it as a child, so she loved it as an adult. Even though she got all sticky afterward, she couldn't deny herself when the urge for something sweet came over her.

- You know what? - she began when she took her eyes off the old men who, despite their age, still loved each other and this could be seen with the naked eye, especially when the man took his wife's hand. - Previously, I looked at life pessimistically. I hated all people, could not control my anger, and there were days when I just wanted to disappear. - He looked closely at her face, but allowed her to continue. - Now in my eyes, everything looks different. I even enjoy the sight of old people walking hand in hand. I find it charming," he said.

James smiled and took her hand. She looked at him.

- Anyone can change their lives. It's not said that if everything goes down, it will stay that way until the end. It is enough to want to change something and, above all, to look at life optimistically.

- I am ashamed when I think about how I behaved before. I think I have matured, and now I see what a nasty ninny I was.

- You were charming," he corrected her. - You may have been able to get me unbalanced at first, but you made me laugh many times.

- Like when? - She furrowed her eyebrows, wondering if there was such a situation. - I don't recall.

- It just often happened, but I'll keep it to myself.

The girl was dissatisfied with his answer.

- And will you buy me a Pepsi? - She unexpectedly changed the subject, making buttery eyes at him.

- Did you make me a servant? - Although he thought Chloe was eating unhealthily, he couldn't ignore her sweet face. - Be that as it may.

He left to buy her a drink, at which point Chloe shot a sharp look at the girl sitting across from them.

- Look at him again, and I'll gouge your eyes out, you floozy! - she yelled, and the abashed girl hurriedly grabbed her bag and fled from the bench.

Chloe smiled triumphantly. She still hadn't lost her last claw.
