As I slipped on my favourite red dress the one that made me feel like a million bucks.The fabric hugged my curves in all the right places and the bold color made my skin glow with a warm golden light, i got as a gift on my 21st birthday from my best friend who claims my wardrobe is a mess and needs a change,i almost didn't receive it because the whole back was open to my wasit line which made me feel too exposed.I'm glad I did receive it though,because I don't have anything else appropriate for this evening, i paired the dress with a pair of high heels and a statement necklace feeling like a true princess as I admired myself in my lengthy mirror. I was so excitedto hit the town with my two best friends, Sophia and Julian. We have been planning this night out for weeks and I was determined to let loose and have some fun. I was just about to spray some perfume on when I heard a car honk outside my house, which signalled my two best friends Sophia and Julian were around to pick me up, I hurriedly sprayed the perfume before rushing to meet them out.
As I walked out of my front door, I saw my friends Sophia and Julian waiting for me in Sophia's car, her dad got it for her last year's birthday which made me wish I had gotten something like that too on my birthday. But I barely got food to eat in my aunts home talk much of a car, thinking of my aunt made me think of what she would do if she comes back home to an empty house, the things she would do to me. Hey girl Julian shouts to me waving at me from the driver's seat.We're running late let's go!.Which snaps me out of my haze I lock the door and hurry up to car, feeling a thrill of excitement and a bit of nerves, I have been looking forward to this night all week and I was determined to have fun nothing was getting in the way of that not even my home situation.
As I slid into the back sit beside Sophia, she leaned over to give me a hug and I felt a sense of relief wash over me, I was glad to be out of the house, away from the oppressive atmosphere that seemed to weigh me down.
"Okay what's the plan for tonight?" Sophia asked turning to Julian with a mischievous grin.
"We are going to party at the mansion"Julian responded looking at me in the rearview mirror " I heard it's going to be epic".
"Wait hold on, I thought we were going downtown to Bairly's club?" I inserted before Julian could go on
"Yeah we were but there's another party going on at the mansion and I heard it's going to be one of a kind so we thought why not? " Sophia answered
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I thought about the party, I've heard rumors about the mansion about the strange and super natural creatures that lurk in the shadows. But I pushed the thoughts away determined to focus on having fun, I was with my friends and they would look out for me what could possibly go wrong?
As we pulled up at the mansion, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe, The building was enormous, with towering spires and grand archways, the walls were made of gleaming white stone and the windows sparkled like diamonds in the sky.
"Wow this place is incredible" Sophia breathed, staring up at the mansion in wonder
"I know right? Julian said grinning. " I've heard the owner of this place, is like super rich and powerful.
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I gazed at the mansion, I had a feeling this night was going to be one to remember. As we stepped out of the car I could feel the music pulsating through the air, it was a low throbbing beat that seemed to match the rhythm of my heart.
"Come on let's go inside"Sophia said grabbing my arm and pulling me towards the entrance with Julian striding behind us.
As we stepped inside the mansion, I was immediately struck by the sheer scale of the place. The foyer was enormous with a sweeping staircase that curved up to the left and right. The walls were adorned with glittering chandeliers and the air was thick of perfume and smoke.
"Wow this place is insane" Sophia said looking awestruck
"You've said that before" Julian said grinning at Sophia, which earned him a smack to the arm to which he winced, clearly pretending like it hurt mostly to Pacifiy Sophia because Julian was built like a giant, he was huge with muscles he earned from visiting the gym always, he scared most people away but to me he was just a big teddy bear.
My eyes scanned the crowd, I could see people on the dance floor, dancing and laughing their faces glowing with an otherworldly energy.
"Come on let's dance" Sophia says leading me by hand to the dance floor, i turn following her when I feel a jolt of electricity run through my veins, I turn, my eyes surveying, trying to find the source when my eyes land on a mysterious figure by the bar. Sipping a glass of wine, his gaze already fixed intensely on me, I felt a shiver run through me as our eyes meet, and I couldn't help but feel drawn to him.
He was dressed in a white tuxedo, his white shirt starched and immaculate. A black bow tie added a touch of elegance to his already impressive presence. His midnight black hair was perfectly styled and God it looked so soft and silken, his piercing blue eyes seemed to bore into my very soul. I felt like I was frozen in time unable to move or look away, his gaze was like a magnet drawing me in with an otherworldly force.
Sopia oblivious to the tension between me and the strange man spun me away from his direction towards the dance floor.
"Come on kaira let's dance! " She exclaimed. I hesitated for a moment but then shook my head, feeling a little silly for get so caught up in the moment.
"Right sorry" I said starting to follow Sophia's moves on the dance floor
As we danced I couldn't help but sneak glances at the man still standing by the bar, watching me with an Intensity that made my skin prickle. I felt like I was playing with fire but I couldn't help myself, there was something about that man that drew me in, that made me feel alive.
As the moment pulsed on I found my self getting more caught up in the moment, I was dancing with Sophia, laughing and spinning to the music but my eyes kept drifting back to the strange man for some reason. She felt like she was under a spell and was being pulled toward him like a month on a flame.
I took my eyes away from the strange man to see Julian dancing his way towards us. "Let's go get some drinks!"He exclaimed. I hesitated for a moment but then I nodded following my friends to the bar. Julian asked for a cosmopolitan while Sophia and I opted for a glass of white wine, as we waited for our drinks, I felt a presence behind me.
I turned to see the strange man standing elegantly behind me, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
"Enjoying the party?"he asked his voice low and husky.
I felt myself treble under his voice, slowly meeting his gaze. " Yes I am", I replied trying to sound casual.
The stranger smiled , his eyes glinting. "I'm glad you're enjoying it"he said "I was starting to think you're bored".
I felt a surge of Indignation at the strangers words, before I could respond he intervened.
" I'm Vladimir "even his name sounded powerful.
" What's yours "he asked
"Kaira, my name is kaira"
"Kaira" He repeated.
"Would you like to dance kaira".he asked holding out his hand
I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do, I nodded, feeling a bit of excitement at the prospect of dancing this with this man, i felt like I was under his spell and couldn't help but wonder what would happen if I gave into my desires.
