At night, after another training that ended when the sun went down, I returned to my room in the orphanage. The caretakers had already prepared a bath and dinner, so after eating, I went to the bathroom to take a quick wash.
The water was warm and soothing, and the heat eased my tired muscles. After drying myself, I headed back to my room and laid on the bed.
A half-transparent wheel that reminded me of a slot machine floated in front of me, showing the spin window. From this, I could get weapons from any anime or shows I watched in my past life.
I am so excited.
My smile grew wider as I looked at the golden words 'Spin' written on the red button. It was time for a lottery.
"Come on, weapon of legend. Give me something good."
I was really hoping to get a cool, legendary weapon, though it might be difficult, given that I didn't have a lot of luck in my past life. If it wasn't a legendary weapon, then at least something useful.
With that thought in mind, I tapped on the spin button. The wheel began to spin and a white light came out. Soon, the weapon would be displayed.
Please, give me a weapon I can use. Something that might be able to allow me to fight Pain in the future or the Akatsuki.
The wheel was spinning, and the arrow on top was moving. The sound was deafening, like the one from the slot machine in a casino. Flashing light was blinding me, but my eyes never left the window. Thankfully, it didn't affect the surroundings and the other kids were still sleeping.
I held my breath and stared at the arrow, and then the wheel started to slow down.
Come on. Come on.
Finally, the arrow stopped moving. My heart raced, and sweat covered my palms. The wheel spun around for the last time before the arrow stopped on the picture of a spear hidden behind a silhouette.
A spear. My first weapon was a spear, or a pole?
Anyway, this was the deciding time. I didn't know what kind of spear would come out. A spear could be a simple weapon that was only able to pierce the opponent or a versatile one that could do anything.
A spear that could be used for stabbing or throwing.
A spear that could extend and retract.
Or, a spear that could create a storm.
The possibilities were endless. And even if I got a legendary one, there was no guarantee that I could use it, so I needed to be cautious.
Slowly, the silhouette that hid the weapon began to disappear, revealing the weapon I received.
A yellow spear with its shaft covered in violet leather wrapping. Its sharp, metallic tip was colored golden, and the blade part was shaped like an arrowhead. It looked familiar, as I had seen the weapon before. The length was about 1.4 meters, perfect to be used for a child like me.
As the weapon revealed itself, it materialized in reality alongside its name.
[Gáe Buidhe: Yellow Rose of Mortality - Rank B]
[It was a gift given to Diarmuid Ua Duibhne by Manannán, the king of fairies. Wounds inflicted by this spear won't heal. If you were to touch the weapon's golden part, your body will be unable to recover. Canceling the curse requires the destruction of the spear or the death of its owner.]
[Effect: Unhealable Wound - Passive.]
"..."
My excitement was replaced by disappointment. It was a great weapon. There was no question about it. But the description and the ability wasn't what I was looking for.
Unhealable wound. The name was too self-explanatory. What I needed urgently was a weapon with destructive power.
This was a passive-type weapon that helped me slightly instead of the destructiveness I sought. Still, I wouldn't complain about this. I could get worse, like an ordinary sword that appeared from the random anime I watched. Instead of that, I obtained Diarmuid's spear, which would be useful in the future.
[Weapon Mastery has been upgraded.]
[Weapon Inventory has been added.]
A message came after I accepted the weapon, and suddenly, two new windows popped out.
Weapon inventory, is it?
The description stated that I could keep my weapon there. A good function, necessary for me as I couldn't really hide the weapon here. And I also couldn't secure a weapon sealer scroll at this point.
If some kids accidentally found this spear and hurt themselves, I would be troubled.
However...
"I wanted to try this spear right away."
I looked at the floating spear. It stayed in the air since it materialized as I hadn't touched it yet. It would be a waste not to try the weapon.
My hands itched. It had been 5 years since I touched any kind of weapons. The caretaker here was so strict that I wasn't even allowed to hold a kitchen knife.
"It should be safe, though. No need to worry, right?"
After making up my mind, I reached for the spear.
"WOOOW!"
The moment I grabbed the weapon, knowledge entered my mind. Mastery over this weapon, how to move, how to attack, everything instantly entered my brain. It was like a scene from an anime or movie where someone would learn martial art by being struck by lightning.
The spear felt like an extension of my hand. It was perfectly balanced, and its weight felt just right.
"It's amazing."
I gripped the handle and swung it, thrusting the spear toward an empty spot. The movement was fluid and the strike was quick. Even with my 5-year-old body, this spear weighs nothing. The violet wrapping was apparently a talisman to keep this spear's effect from activating.
And the moment the tip pierced the empty air, a golden light appeared. It was a sign that the curse had been activated.
"This is dangerous. I have to be careful not to cut anyone."
This weapon might not be the most powerful, but it was extremely lethal. It could kill a person if it hit the vitals, and even a slight scratch could mean a lifetime injury.
Combined with a Byakugan, this spear will allow them to render the enemy from using chakra if they attack the correct place. If I think about it, this spear has become so scary.
This was a perfect weapon to use against Ninjas. I had no idea why the spear would be ranked B when its ability was this terrifying, though.
Still, the power was lacking. I wanted to find a weapon that would suit me better.
I returned the spear into the inventory and decided to sleep. Maybe there would be a new achievement in the morning, allowing me to gain another weapon.
That would be wonderful.
