Chereads / MHA: Gamer Hero / Chapter 2 - Settling in

Chapter 2 - Settling in

"Yesterday was a wild day."

I opened my eyes and started to remember what happened yesterday. A smile appeared on my face from the realization that I was able to prevent one of the most problematic types of villain from appearing in the future.

Especially that I was able to not only prevent her from going down the wrong path, but also help her in her difficult time. Growing up in a world like this, where heroes are real and loved by everyone, you begin to feel sympathy for them yourself, cherishing the dream of becoming a hero in the future.

Remembering her bitter hot tears, I felt something very warm inside, as if I had done something incredibly right.

But remembering the events of yesterday after that, with each passing second, his face became even redder, covering his eyes with his forearm in embarrassment.

After she tasted my blood, the embarrassment and awkwardness between us could be felt in the air. After seeing her to a spare room, I briefly told her about it. There was everything necessary in case of unexpected guests or situations, even a private restroom with a toilet and a sink, although without a shower or a bath.

After awkwardly saying goodbye and wishing each other goodnight, I went to take a shower, after which I lay down on the bed and could not fall asleep for several hours. There was no desire to use the phone due to the stormy emotions that I did not understand.

My body and face were hot, as if I had caught a cold, but I did not move from the spot, continuing to hug the dakimakura - a body pillow - that was in an ordinary white pillowcase with my arms and legs. Of course, I wanted to drink water, but I tried not to think about anything at all and soon I still managed to fall asleep.

"Eeeh..." sighing once, I got up and drank some tap water and washed my face with it, which has good quality after installing a cleaning system, filters and even filters with added vitamins. So I could not worry about the health of the body, especially the skin and hair.

A quick warm-up and I went out, approaching the door of the room where Toga was staying. Just as I was about to knock, I pulled my hand back, realizing that I almost screwed up myself.

She already had a lot going on, so now she would suddenly wake up from a knock on the door, finding herself in a stranger's house. Even if she woke up, she needed time to think and be alone before she came out on her own, ready for a new environment. After all, she was only a teenager.

So I simply attached a piece of paper with some information to the opposite door and went to the kitchen to make breakfast for two.

After breakfast and washing the dishes, I slowly began to get ready for a run, despite the fact that the sun had long since risen and it was now Monday.

Today was a public holiday - a day off, but not too important to celebrate. Just one of the days to give people a little rest, after all, we are one of the most hardworking and diligent people in the world.

The weather was great - cloudy and maybe tomorrow it will be overcast. Perfect for a run without feeling the discomfort of the blinding sun.

Arriving home an hour later, I found that the plates were not on the table and they were washed, to which I only smiled a little.

After a quick shower and drying off, I knocked on her door, which she opened ten seconds later. She opened it enough for me to see her completely.

She was wearing pajamas that fit her perfectly, which is not surprising considering that there are 4 pairs of different sizes. The pajamas themselves were very cute, mostly black, with little white and pink bunny faces on them and soft slippers of the same theme.

She stood, holding the door handle with one hand and covering the lower half of her face with the other. Her eyes were glowing with warmth and an incomprehensible joyful spark, although she still seemed tired.

"I hope you slept well?" I asked her to start a conversation.

She first moved her hand away, about to say something, but then instantly blushed and raised her hand again, only nodding briefly.

"That's nice to hear." I nodded happily to her and continued, handing over a small piece of paper.

"I wanted to ask you if you need anything? Please don't be shy, I have enough money. This piece of paper has my phone number and my social contacts. You can write to me in the chat what you need: from appliances to medicine and personal hygiene. If you need clothes, I think we can go shopping tomorrow after class or whenever it's convenient for you this week."

She looked at me with wide eyes and quickly nodded, closing the door and quietly whispering "Thank you."

Entering my room, I sighed and lay down on my bed.

'I hope I'm not pushing her too hard? It's really important that she feels comfortable.'

Looking at the black credit card on the closet shelf, I mentally sighed as I saw the balance displayed through the system. My once inexhaustible supply of money was quickly draining away, imagining spending on appliances and clothes.

A couple of hours later, a list of products with a specific model and price arrived on my messenger, which was surprisingly down-to-earth. Taken aback, I asked if she wanted something better and only resigned myself to it after her sweet negative answer.

The next day, Tuesday, we went to our schools at the same time. Before that, I gave her a duplicate of the keys and we agreed that we would go shopping for clothes, because she only had one school uniform and did not want to go home to get her stuff.

School hours passed unnoticed. Nothing interesting happened, although it is worth noting the more diligent attendance and studies of my younger brother. I think my parents deserve credit, and probably me, for sharing my brother's weakness for figurines. But in fairness, I did not say anything about his collection of hard drives with not very convenient material for viewing at work.

Having met Toga at the metro station, we went shopping. And it took a surprisingly long time. Most would consider it a sophisticated mandatory torture, but for me it was like a walk.

All thanks to my quirk, which somehow works like a quirk and it is amazing. Of course, it does not have the functionality of quests and a store, but the body development system alone is worth it, and I also have an inventory that plays the role of spatial storage.

The body system not only allows me to smoothly develop the body, without yet meeting the limits, but also gives such bonuses as the player's body and mind.

The Player Body allows me to function somewhat like a game character, meaning I can redistribute damage across my entire body and fully recover in one full night's sleep.

The Player Mind makes my learning incredibly smooth and my concentration unwavering, which sometimes plays a cruel joke on me, if I set my priorities incorrectly.

And in theory, it prevents me from ever overloading myself without fear of a mental breakdown, depression, or any mental or psychological illnesses, which also applies to serious illnesses of the body, thanks to the Player Body.

As we know from the latest researchs on Quirks, we know that they - Quirks - adjust the host to the use of the Quirk itself, affecting the body and personality of the Quirk host. This is true for me, Toga, and for everyone else, although there are exceptions.

The Player Mind just twists my thinking, one might say rationalizes it, turning boring and unpleasant tasks into ordinary and acceptable ones.

Of course, I am not a robot, rather I have become a more productive and better version of my former self.

While watching Toga try out different outfits and in between talking to her, I simultaneously used the remaining time to think.

Looking at a whole row of craft bags with various clothes, I sighed sadly, looking at the sagging balance. And no, I still had enough money, because I had been saving all my pocket money since childhood and my parents gave me too huge a sum. But it was not the costs themselves that scared me, but their speed.

Despite the fact that I was going to become a hero... No, striving to become a hero, on the contrary, I needed a stable income, because I did not plan to stop at heroism alone, having my own ambitions. After all, having any goals, you need to start planning to achieve them as early as possible, and not just dump it on the future and your future self. And money always is essential topic.

Looking at the joyful and sweet Toga, I inadvertently imagined her evil alternative future version as part of the League of Villains. In particular, she was often remembered in a pair with her colleague - Twice...

'Eureka!' The sudden idea cheered me up.

'I need to find him as soon as possible! His abilities will help me tremendously in the future!'
