Lucian walked into the grand mansion, his polished shoes clicking against the marble floor. His expression was stoic, his eyes sharp as they scanned the foyer. A maid hurriedly approached, her head bowed.
"Where is Eva?" he asked, his tone even but firm.
The maid hesitated, wringing her hands nervously. "Sir, we're not sure. She hasn't come downstairs since she returned from the hospital earlier."
Lucian's brows furrowed slightly. "She hasn't eaten?"
The maid shook her head. "No, sir. Dinner has been prepared, though."
"Who cooked?"
"Um, we did, sir," the maid replied, her voice faltering under his intense gaze.
Lucian's lips pressed into a thin line. "Don't bother with it," he said coldly. "My wife will be making dinner tonight." Without waiting for a response, he ascended the staircase, his steps deliberate, his expression unreadable.
