Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 8

CHAPTER 8

"What do I get if I kill you?" He asked as his breath came out ragged. He wasn't even exerting his full force on the woman. But she made him breathless.

Her brows furrowed. "Nothing." She mumbled weakly.

"And if I keep you alive? What would I get?" He raised an eyebrow at her. Waiting for what she had to offer.

"One less crime on your record?" She suggested.

That made his lips quirk up. "That's the thing that never crossed my mind, woman. It was unending for me."

"Then you won't get anything from me. Just let me go." She was seeing dark spots in her vision again. She grunted inwardly. She doesn't want to lose consciousness for the second time in front of him. The bastard may do something diabolical with her body.

The purple glow in her eyes was fading. Vextral noticed every change of its emotions. She was about to pass out. Maybe for blood loss from the bullet wound that got opened again. But she was fighting it. She was trying to stay awake as she forced her eyes to blink.

He could finish her right then and there. Her neck was in his grip. Her life was in his hands.

"Don't…" She tried to speak. Her voice was weak and husky. "You dare touch my body." She successfully finished her sentence.

She attempted to move again. If pain can make her lose consciousness, it would help her stay awake too. Her slight movement sent another sting to her body. She was thankful that whatever was in her back, though it could have been peeling her skin off, at least it made her awake enough. Blood and sweat were mixed and rubbed the fresh wounds. She hissed and whimpered.

Vex wasn't squeezing her gun wound anymore. But she was in obvious pain. He was expecting her to blackout, but she kept on fighting. His jaw ticked, and he swallowed hard. He let go of her neck and thigh, retreating a step from her.

He waited a moment for her to get up. Some of her blood had dried in his hand. The thin material covering her body was sticking to her skin. She had the perfect curves in perfect places.

Rizika clenched her eyes and took a deep breath. The bastard finally let go of her. She pushed herself to get up. She bit her lower lip to stifle a whimper. She gasped when she finally straightened herself. "I don't…" She gasped as pain shot through her body. Her vision was getting blurry. She shook her head. "I don't want anything to do with you." She leaned her backside to the table's edge.

"Then why are you in my forest?"

She could pass out in front of him anytime. But as long as she was still awake, he would get answers from her. Or he could just kill his interest in her.

Because of the damn portal. But he wouldn't believe that. "The river led me there." She stated confidently with her head held high. Her eyes were getting droopy again.

"So, you're saying you're from the mountain? The river current dragged your body here because you fell unconscious in the water."

She would have clapped in his brilliant excuse that he made up for her. "Yes. You got it right. It's good that you're not just a pretty face then." She tried to smile at the last part, but it turned into a grimace. The pain all over her body was throbbing in her system. If she wasn't leaning at the edge, she would have fallen on the floor.

His jaw ticked. "Do you know who I am?" There was a growl in his tone as his eyes darkened. This woman was playing him.

Rizika saw a storm coming in his eyes. And the electricity in it was ready to electrocute her any second. He clearly did not buy that excuse. But she was not done yet. "I'm from the mountain. If you could see from my clothes before, I'm a—"

"—Soldier."

A general. Soldier? What is that? But fine. Whatever that was, she doesn't want to correct him anymore.

Her hands slowly crept up behind her. It looks like this man won't let go of her easily, so she had to think of a way to escape from the place.

Vex only took a single step, and he was right in front of her. Like really in front of her. His chest was grazing her breasts. And he brought his hand behind her to catch her hands that he knew she was about to reach for something behind. And his other hand gripped her hair at the back of her head. He tugged her hair that made her head jolt up on him, and she gasped at the sudden pain from her scalp.

He was looking down at her under his gaze. "You think you would get out of here alive?"

"Yes." She hissed as her teeth gritted from the soreness of her scalp. His breath was of cigarette, mixed with alcohol. It was making her dizzyer. And black spots danced on her vision again.

Why does this woman keep surprising him with her answers? It was because they were not what they should be from a person with a normal mind. "Why'd you think so?" Still, he couldn't stop his curiosity.

"You could've finished me already, but you didn't. Why is that?" She asked back as if her life didn't matter.

Vextral should have felt annoyed. He should be annoyed for asking him back when she was on his mercy. But she kept on making things unexpected and intriguing. She never stopped to amuse him. Just from her appearance, body, and even her wits. If it were any other person, their tongue would have been long gone. Heck, their body would have been buried by now.

He hated to be questioned back. And he hated it more that he doesn't even know what made him keep her. There was just something in her. He couldn't explain it. Maybe it was those damn purple eyes that were unique for him. And her hair that was silkily long, he could wrap them in his hands a few times and tugged her head however he likes it. And they remind him of peaches. A sweet fruit that he always had on his table. Her height that wasn't so short. She doesn't look like a dwarf next to him. And then her luscious body. He can feel her softness but there were also muscles. He knew that she can fight. He noticed it when she caught his hand before. She was quick. Her all in all beauty was otherworldly. And then there's her brain or how her mind works.

She could just have a few screws lose from how she does not seem to fear him. And he would be damned if he told her all that.

"Reverse psychology won't work on me." Lame answer. But dang it.

She licked her dry lips. And she noticed how his eyes turned to her lips.

"Not seduce me, huh?" He smirked and tugged her hair some more. He felt his body grew rigid and he hated it that she made him react to her like this.

A whimper escaped from her throat. His hands behind her held both her wrists. She was completely on his mercy. But he felt like he wasn't the one in power at all.

"Tame me, you said? What if I tame you first?" He doesn't want to sound breathy but the tension between them was making the air in his lungs run out fast. He dipped his head to the side of her face and whispered in her ear. "How do you like to be tamed?"
