Chapter 15 - The Decisive Choice

Arya stood tall before the Gatekeeper. His gaze was firm, though deep inside he felt burdened by the choice he had to make. Two orbs of light floating in the air glittered like stars, offering promises and threats that could not be ignored.

"Arya, don't be reckless," Laksmi said in a worried tone. "This sacrifice could change everything, even our future. We must think it through carefully."

Arya turned to her, a small smile etched on her face. "Laksmi, this journey is not just about me or you. If we stop now, everything we've been through will be in vain."

Laksmi fell silent. She knew Arya was right, but it was hard for her to accept the fact that they had to lose something precious in order to move forward.

The Gatekeeper broke the silence. "The decision is yours. One choice will open the way, the other will bring destruction. But remember, true sacrifice is not always obvious at first."

Arya closed her eyes for a moment, trying to hear her own voice amidst the confusion. She then raised her hand toward the blue orb of light, the symbol of life. But before he could touch her, Laksmi grabbed his arm.

"Arya, listen to me," she said, her voice trembling. "If this is about us, then we must do it together. I will not let you bear this alone."

Arya was stunned. In the silence, he saw a determination in Laksmi's eyes that he had never noticed before.

"Okay," she said finally. "We will choose together."

They held each other's hands, approaching the ball of blue light. As their fingers touched its surface, the light suddenly spread, enveloping their bodies in a soft glow.

But instead of feeling peaceful, they felt an overwhelming burden in their hearts. In an instant, memories of the past began to flow like a river. Memories of family, friends, and everything they cherished surfaced one by one.

Laksmi sobbed as she saw the image of her long-dead parents. Arya, on the other hand, saw the image of his childhood with his sister, something he had buried deep inside.

"This… is not just a choice," Arya whispered. "This is a test of our souls."

The Gatekeeper smiled faintly. "You have chosen with the right heart. But this path will not be easy. The darkness beyond these gates is greater than you can imagine."

The great doors before them began to open, a roar that echoed throughout the valley. A bright light shone from within, beckoning them forward.

Arya and Laksmi shared one last glance before walking through, their hands still clasped tightly.

Beyond the gates, they were greeted by an extraordinary sight: an alternate world filled with an energy that felt both foreign and familiar. But amidst the beauty, a large shadow began to appear on the horizon, signifying that the true test had only just begun.

Beyond the gate, the new world greeted Arya and Laksmi with unimaginable beauty. Giant trees with luminous leaves towered, rivers glistening like jewels flowed quietly, and the wind carried the scent of flowers they had never known before.

However, amidst the beauty, the atmosphere was not entirely peaceful. There was something heavy, like a threat lurking around every corner.

"This is… amazing," Laksmi said in a low voice, her eyes glued to the sparkling waters of the river.

Arya nodded, though she could not fully enjoy the sight. In her chest, there was a strange feeling that she could not ignore, like something was wrong.

"Don't get carried away," Arya said, gripping her sword tightly. "This place may look beautiful, but we don't know what lies ahead."

Laksmi nodded, though her eyes continued to look around in awe. They walked further, following a path made of luminous stones that wound through the trees.

As they walked, the sound of their footsteps was suddenly accompanied by a faint whisper. It sounded like the wind, but there was something different. The whispers contained words they didn't understand, but they felt like a call trying to penetrate their minds.

"Arya," Laksmi whispered, her voice strained. "Do you hear it?"

Arya nodded. "I hear it. Stay focused. Don't let it enter your mind."

But the whispers grew louder, surrounding them like a swirling wind. The words began to sound clearer, though still difficult to understand. Laksmi covered her ears with her hands, her face pale.

"Please stop!" she shouted, even though she knew it wouldn't help.

Suddenly, the path in front of them split, creating a large hole that emitted a dark light. From within the hole, shadowy creatures began to emerge. They had no clear form, but their aura radiated hatred and a real threat.

Arya immediately raised her sword. "Laksmi, stay behind me!"

The creatures approached in swift movements, like mist seeping through the trees. Arya slashed at one of them, but her sword only cut through empty air.

"They aren't real!" Arya said in frustration. "This is all an illusion!"

However, the illusion felt very real to Laksmi. The creatures seemed as if they wanted to pull her into a dark hole. She tried to fight, but her body felt heavy, as if bound by invisible chains.

"Arya!" Laksmi shouted. "I can't move!"

Arya turned around and saw Laksmi starting to be enveloped by shadows. He reached out his hand, trying to grab Laksmi, but the shadows grew thicker, separating them like a black wall.

"No! I won't let you!" Arya shouted, using all his energy to slash the shadows.

His sword shone brightly, emitting a blue light that cut through the shadows with ease. Laksmi fell to her knees, her body shaking. Arya immediately pulled her to her feet.

"We have to get out of here," Arya said. "This place is trying to separate us."

Laksmi nodded, though her face was still filled with fear. They continued their journey at a fast pace, leaving the dark hole and the shadow creatures behind.

As they walked further, the atmosphere around them began to change. The glowing trees were replaced by dead trees with sharp branches. The air turned cold, and the ground beneath their feet turned to dry, cracked sand.

"This place seems to change with our thoughts," Laksmi murmured.

Arya nodded. "This is a test. They want to see how far we can go, how strong we are in fighting our own fears."

But the test did not stop. From the darkness before them, another figure emerged. This time, it was not a shadow. It was an old man in a long, tattered robe.

"Who are you that dare to step onto this ground?" he asked in a deep, echoing voice.

Arya raised her sword, but the man only chuckled.

"I am not your enemy, young man," he said. "I am just another guardian of this place. My name is Brahmaji."

"Guardian?" Laksmi asked. "What do you mean?"

Brahmaji nodded. "Every step in this place is a test. I am here to give you guidance, if you are wise enough to listen."

Arya eyed the man suspiciously. "Why should we trust you?"

The man smiled. "Trust is a choice, just like every step you take in this place. But I will give you one piece of advice: the truth is not always visible on the surface. What you are looking for may be closer than you think."

Before they could ask further questions, the man disappeared like mist blown away by the wind.

"The truth is not always visible on the surface?" Laksmi murmured.

Arya nodded. "We must move forward.
