Rainy Night.
The Alley.
Amid the pattering of the rain, intermittent electric crackling sounds could be heard.
"Calling Ellie! Calling Ellie! Can you hear me? Hold on for another five minutes, we'll be there!"
Several corpses were lying scattered on the ground.
A humanoid creature covered in long hair was squatting in front of the corpses, ripping out their hearts and lungs.
The sound of the pouring rain, the gurgling of the puddles draining into the sewers, the munching of the humanoid creature, and the crackling of the electric current combined to create a rather eerie atmosphere.
In the corner of the wall.
A graceful figure slowly stood up, her back rubbing against the wall.
She had short silver hair.
Her facial features were exquisitely beautiful, that stunning face combining all the best features of the East and the West. She was tall and slender, wearing a tight leather outfit that accentuated her graceful and proud figure.
A blue long knife with peculiar patterns in her hand was propped against the ground.
The woman took a slight breath, clenched the blue long knife, and a faint glow flowed along the blade.
The claw of the humanoid creature reached out towards one of the people lying on the ground. That person was still breathing and pleaded weakly and fearfully, "Captain Ellie! Save me! Please save me!"
The woman gritted her teeth, took a breath, and endured the intense pain as she swung the knife towards the humanoid creature.
Without even turning its head, the humanoid creature threw a punch.
The woman's delicate body flew backward and crashed into a puddle, splashing up a lot of water.
A strange watch on her wrist beeped, and the three red dots displayed on it suddenly turned into four small dots.
The woman's cherry lips moved as she struggled a few times, but in the end, she was completely exhausted and collapsed on the ground. With a look of despair in her eyes, she pressed the earpiece and said with trembling lips.
"Level Four! A Level Four Mutant!"
A startled cry came from the other end of the earpiece, "What? Level Four? Ellie! We're already on our way! Hold on a little longer! We'll be there soon!"
Ellie took off the earpiece and lay on the ground, her eyes vacant, her ice-blue eyes looking at the pitch-black ceiling, murmuring, "It's too late!"
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed that there was suddenly someone beside her.
Ellie's heart tightened, and she subconsciously reached for her knife.
The person who came was holding an umbrella.
The raindrops falling on the umbrella made a dense, crackling sound.
Ellie saw that the person seemed to be wearing the school uniform of the nearby No. 2 Middle School.
She quickly grabbed the hem of the person's pants and said weakly and anxiously, "Don't just stand there and watch! Hurry up and go!"
The humanoid creature that was gnawing on the hearts and lungs slowly stopped its movements, turned its head, and stared at the newcomer with a pair of cold, vertical pupils.
Its blood-stained scarlet long tongue protruded from its mouth, licking its lips. The humanoid creature wiped its mouth and stood up, staring greedily at the newcomer, as if it had seen a delicious after-dinner treat.
Suddenly, it pushed off with its feet.
Mud and water splashed everywhere.
The humanoid creature charged towards the person with the umbrella.
Fang Xin remained as still as a mountain.
Ellie thought that Fang Xin had been scared silly and struggled to reach for her knife, but in the end, she only scooped up a handful of puddle water.
"Go!" Ellie shouted with her last bit of strength.
The humanoid creature was already right in front of him.
Its sharp claws swept towards Fang Xin's chest.
The umbrella was slowly lifted up. Beneath the edge of the umbrella, behind the fine fringe of bangs, those pitch-black pupils suddenly turned scarlet.
Fang Xin raised one hand.
On the skin of his finger joints, scarlet, bloodthirsty runes suddenly emerged.
Fang Xin's palm moved so fast that it left a blur, and he grabbed the humanoid creature's neck with lightning speed.
Everything happened so quickly that the humanoid creature even maintained its previous posture.
The curtain of rain seemed to stop for an instant.
Fang Xin bent his knees slightly to gather strength.
Suddenly, he lunged forward!
Boom!
The humanoid creature was slammed into the wall.
The wall plaster fell off, and the bricks on the other side were smashed outwards, creating a concave hemispherical dent.
The humanoid creature coughed up blood and bits of internal organs, slid down the wall to the ground, and its head plunged into the mud and water, motionless.
The stalled rain started falling again.
Fang Xin raised his hand and grabbed something from a distance.
A barely perceptible blood glow flew out from the humanoid creature's body at a speed invisible to the naked eye and disappeared into the scarlet runes on Fang Xin's finger joints. The runes flickered for an instant and then vanished, leaving his long fingers looking like an ordinary hand.
The scarlet pupils also reverted to black.
Fang Xin turned his head.
An unprecedented look of astonishment appeared on Ellie's delicate face as she lay on her side in the rain.
Those ice-blue eyes reflected the appearance of Fang Xin wearing a mask.
Fang Xin gave a casual glance, as if looking at a beautiful but empty shell, without asking any more questions, and walked straight into the distance.
Ellie's eyes were still shocked, and her voice was weak, "I'm seriously injured, drag me over there to avoid the rain!"
Fang Xin stopped in his tracks and turned his head slightly, "You're asking me to do something, but you didn't even bother to say 'you' politely."
Ellie was slightly taken aback, "Please, could you drag me over there?"
Fang Xin walked up to her. Ellie raised her arm, preparing to be carried princess-style.
To her surprise, Fang Xin was a very down-to-earth person.
Since Ellie had said to drag her over there, Fang Xin grabbed the back of Ellie's collar and dragged her to the outside of a shop at the entrance of the alley to get out of the rain.
Her buttocks were slightly sore from being bumped against the steps. Ellie's cherry lips pouted slightly, but she didn't complain. Instead, she sincerely said, "Thank you."
Fang Xin turned to leave, and Ellie quickly said, "I'm Ellie. May I ask, what's... your name?"
"Qin Junhao!"
"Is that your real name?"
Fang Xin grunted in affirmation, "I never change my name whether I'm walking or sitting, Qin Junhao!"
Before Ellie could ask anything else, Fang Xin had disappeared into the vast rainy night.
Not long after.
Several cars gathered in this direction.
A man wearing a top hat and a trench coat was the first to jump out of one of the cars.
After seeing the scattered corpses on the ground, his expression became anxious.
The man raised his wrist, looked at the distance and direction display between him and Ellie on his watch, and quickly rushed over.
When he got close, he immediately checked the injuries and took out a syringe and injected a dose of medicine into Ellie. Finally, a bit of color returned to Ellie's pale face.
"Where's that Level Four Mutant?"
"Captain Xiao! Look over here!" One of the team members shone a light on a place.
Captain Xiao was extremely astonished when he saw it, "Ellie, who did this? To be able to kill a mutant who has just broken through to Level Four, even in a small place like Lan City, they must be someone of great repute!"
"A high school student!"
"A high... high school student?" Captain Xiao was stunned, "Are you sure?"
"I saw him wearing the school uniform of No. 2 Middle School."
"Good heavens, if this is true, he must have an SSS-level talent! And he would be at the top even among those with SSS-level talents!"
Captain Xiao quickly asked, "Did you ask him what his name was?"
"Yes, he said his name was Qin Junhao!"
Captain Xiao's eyes lit up, and his expression was excited, "Good heavens, good heavens! I'll have someone check if there's such a person in No. 2 Middle School right away. If all of this is true, we've hit the jackpot! We've found a treasure!
Such a genius is a terrifying existence at the top level not only in the whole region but also in the whole country. Coincidentally, the first round of talent tests this year will start the day after tomorrow and tomorrow. I must go and see for myself. I can't let other units snatch away such a good genius! Especially those guys from the Ninth Division, they always manage to steal the geniuses!
Qin Junhao, I'll remember him!"
Ellie's ice-blue eyes stared into the vast rainy night as she rubbed her still slightly sore buttocks. She had indeed remembered him.
Fang Xin shook the raindrops on his umbrella.Just opened the door, there was a sound coming from the room.
