Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

[I wish for your happy ending.]

Those words kept floating in my mind. Maybe it was a reassurance as for what is about to come. I will face many difficulties here. Despite that, I smiled as I remembered her face again. To think that Valentina has matured... I feel proud!

Then I suddenly felt a stinging pain on my right side. It made me frown. What is this? As I wondered, I heard a cold voice of a woman.

"Why is this bitch didn't wake up yet? Do I need to pour hot water on her?" She sounded very irritated.

'What?! Is this how you treat a sick person?! I almost died and this is how you treat me!?'

I couldn't believe what I just heard. Still, I didn't open my eyes and wait. When I heard that she will get the hot water and left the room, I immediately opened my eyes and get up. I need to quickly get out of here. But the moment I moved my body, I hissed.

"Crazy bitch. She pinched my waist like she wanted to tear off my flesh," I swore as I gently rubbed the area that was swollen. Then I looked around the room to search for something that could help my escape. There was nothing except the calendar that told me what day is today.

The only available escape route is the window beside the bed. Maybe because I was unconscious, but they actually put me in a room with a window. It could also be because the doctor was checking me up and they need to put on a show. But that didn't matter, as long as it's beneficial to me.

I grabbed my blanket and went over to the window. This room is located on the fourth floor. Perfect. I didn't have much energy due to the effect of the poison, or else I would have move the table all the way to the window. Without delaying any further, I opened the window and climbed the window frame.

I closed my eyes and focused my sense. I could feel something warm flowing inside of me. This must be mana, something that didn't exist in my previous life. I channeled the mana in my body to create a wind. The process was extremely painful thanks to the poison in my body.

"Cough! Cough!" I ended up coughing up blood but I didn't stop. I have been pierced with a bullet before so this is more or less the same. Once I managed to create a wind, I put the blanket over my head and jumped.

This is like when I did the bungee jumping in my previous life but more dangerous since there's no safety measure. But this is the best I could do. I created a wind on my lower body to reduce the impact of falling. Since the tower they placed me in was actually an abandoned place, I managed to land in the small forest.

"This is harder than I thought." I wiped off the blood that was flowing out of my mouth. I felt like I could faint at any moment even though I just woke up.

"I need to hurry before the owner of this house gets back." If I'm not wrong, they will carry out 'that' plan tonight. I may be the villainess but I'm not the final boss of this story. The final boss will be my father, the one who aimed for the king's throne.

'Damn it. Don't you know that if you carry out that plan, all of your family members will be executed when revealed?! What's the point of me getting a new life then?!'

That's why I need to stop it at all costs. I ran as fast as I could to reach the exit. I channeled my mana to create a wind and jumped over the wall. Before I could safely land on the ground, the magic got cancelled due to the insufficient amount of mana. I rolled my body to reduce the impact.

"Argh! I think I broke one or two of my bones. Crazy." I cursed as I tried to get up. I needed to hurry before a guard showed up and took me back in.

I ran again until I could see a road in front of me. This is a road they used to distribute goods to all around the Capital. I stopped one of the carriages and rode on them. The driver looked displeased but soon gave me an amiable smile when I handed him one of my earrings. Just that alone is worth ten gold coins.

These carriages will be heading towards the Kingdom's Founding Festival, where the incident will take place. Not only the royal family, but the important people from all around the world will attend. If something were to happen, the royal family's reputation will get damaged. And this is exactly what my father was aiming for.

"How should I proceed next? Sneaking in won't be easy. Not to mention that I was so famous because of my past actions... Sigh. I got a headache."

I didn't want to say that I regretted transferring into this body but now that I don't know what to do, this has become really frustrating.

"Let's calm down and recall the novel plot. First, the people my father planted will be in charge of–"

"Excuse us." A man and a woman rode on the carriage and sat in front of me. The woman had short hair while the man was almost bald. Both of them wore a mercenary outfit. I guessed they were tasked to protect this carriage from being attacked by bandits.

"What's the name of your mercenary?" I asked them. The wolf tattoo on the back of their hands got me curious. The woman gently touched the tattoo upon hearing my question.

"Our mercenary group disbanded a long time ago. Now it's just the two of us taking mercenary jobs on our own," the way she said it like she was remembering a painful past. I didn't pry about it any further and asked another question.

"Do you have any other job after this one?"

"We didn't get any other job after this. Why do you ask?"

"I have a job for you. It will be a very difficult job but I promise you the rewards aren't small." I took the only earring left with me and put it on her hand. "Take this as an early payment. If you finish your job, I will give you the rest of the money. Will you do it?"
