The ground beneath them trembled violently, sending cracks skittering along the dungeon floor and nearly throwing them off balance. Mimosa froze, her face paling as an ominous sound echoed through the cavern—an unnatural rumble, like the growl of an awakening giant.
She whispered, almost to herself, "That sound… something's coming."
Before the group could react, Luck burst into view, his usually manic grin replaced with a strained look. His lightning flickered erratically around him, and slung over his back was Mars, unconscious and bloodied, his crystalline armor shattered in pieces.
Luck stumbled to a stop, panting as he
dumped Mars onto the ground. "I think I might've… accidentally woken up their queen," he blurted, his voice tinged with both exhaustion and panic. "Like… she just woke up! And now she's—she's eating her own swarm! Powering herself up or something!"
The words hung in the air for only a moment before the rumbling intensified. A cacophony of crashing walls and monstrous shrieks filled the cavern, growing louder with every passing second. Dust and debris rained from the ceiling as the oppressive mana around them thickened, making it harder to breathe.
Noelle's voice trembled as she gripped her wand. "She's… she's coming here, isn't she?"
"She's already here," Yuno said grimly, his wind magic stirring around him as if to brace for impact. His golden eyes narrowed, catching a faint, looming shadow in the distance.
Asta stepped forward, his expression hardening as his grimoire floated to his side, glowing with an ominous, fiery aura. "Yuno, take Mars and Luck and get out of here," he commanded, with zero hesitation his voice. "I'll hold her off."
Yuno's head snapped toward him, disbelief and frustration flashing across his face. "Are you insane?! You can't fight her alone!"
Asta turned to meet Yuno's gaze, his eyes filled with an unyielding resolve. "I can, and I will. If you stayed here, You'd only be holding me back. Besides,You're one of the only few here who can get everyone out safely."
Before the two could argue further, the ground behind them exploded with a deafening crash. The queen's monstrous form smashed into view, her presence suffocating the room with raw, malevolent power.
She was an abomination—a grotesque figure that towered above them, her body pulsating with absorbed mana. Her elongated limbs were covered in shimmering, insectoid armor, and her jagged maw stretched into a predatory grin, filled with rows of razor-sharp teeth. Her sky-blue eyes glowed with feral intelligence.
"GO!" Asta roared, his wings unfurling as his grimoire flared with energy. The sheer force of his aura sent a wave of dust and rubble rippling outward.
Yuno hesitated before grabbing Mars and Luck with his wind magic.
And with that, the battle began.
The queen let out a thunderous roar, shaking the cavern as her massive frame lunged forward, her mana-infused claws tearing through the air. Asta planted his feet, his Demon-Dweller Sword gleaming with anti-magic as he raised it to meet her. The clash sent sparks flying, the sheer force of the impact reverberating through the dungeon.
Her onslaught was relentless. Each swing of her claws was faster, heavier, and more destructive than the last, aiming to overwhelm him completely. Asta, then came to a realization if he wanted to beat her he needed to make a tactical maneuver, So, He closed his eyes for a brief moment. A crimson glow surrounded Asta, wrapping around him like molten metal, creating his
Berserk Armor
The transformation was immediate and visceral. Thick black plates of anti-magic fused together on his body, interlocking with demonic precision. Jagged spikes jutted out along his shoulders and forearms, and his wings grew thiner, now appearing as a cloak on his back. His glowing red eyes, locked onto the queen, and a feral grin spread across his face.
The queen paused for a split second, her monstrous form swaying as if assessing this new threat. Then, she lunged again.
Asta met her charge head-on. He moved with raw, untamed power, his swings heavier in the Berserk Armor. Each strike of his sword cleaved through her mana-coated limbs, scattering chunks of energy like shards of glass. Her claws slammed into him, but the armor absorbed the brunt of the damage, allowing Asta to keep fighting without taking needless damage.
The battle turned brutal. Asta's attacks grew more ferocious, his armor amplifying his strength and power. He used everything at his disposal—slashing with his sword, punching with spiked gauntlets, and slamming into her like a battering ram.
But it wasn't enough. The queen's mana seemed limitless, her body regenerating faster than Asta could deal damage. Her strikes began to adapt, targeting weak points in his armor and forcing him to retreat momentarily.
As he dodged another devastating blow, Liebe's voice cut through the chaos in his mind. "Asta! You're fighting well, but the Berserk Armor alone won't be enough to take her down."
Asta paused, his breathing beginning to slow. "What do you have in mind, Liebe?"
"The armor has an ultimate form," Liebe explained, his voice calm yet charged with urgency. "I'll guide you through it."
Asta nodded, closing his eyes, briefly as he focused on their bond. Soon enough, His energy and, and the Berserk Armor began to change. Plates shifted and slimmed, becoming more streamlined and organic. Black fur spread across the armor's joints, adding a primal, predatory edge. His claws elongated, glowing with an ominous anti-magic energy that crackled like lightning.
The transformation was complete when shadowy wolves materialized around him, their forms pulsating with the same crimson anti-magic aura. They snarled and circled him, their eyes blazing as they awaited his command.
Asta opened his eyes, now gleaming brighter than ever. His voice was a low growl as he whispered, "Lycan Ultimate Mode…"
The queen didn't hesitate, roaring as she charged again, her mana flaring wildly. But this time, Asta was faster. He moved like a blur, his claws raking across her limbs with precision and power. His wolves leapt at her, tearing into her defenses and disrupting her mana flow.
The cavern shook with the intensity of their battle. Asta's strikes were no longer just powerful—they were surgical, every blow aimed to cripple her regeneration and wear her down.
As the wolves attacked in unison, Asta leapt high, his sword raised above his head, glowing with concentrated anti-magic.
The queen, sensing his newfound power, began to convulse violently as she unleashed another ear-splitting shriek. Her grotesque body began to shift and shrink, condensing into a smaller, sleeker frame that radiated overwhelming mana. Her limbs elongated and sharpened, and her sky-blue eyes gleamed with deadly intent. The sheer speed of her movements became blinding, her figure a blur as she darted across the battlefield.
Asta gritted his teeth, bracing himself as the queen charged at him with renewed ferocity. Their clash sent shockwaves through the dungeon, cracks spiderwebbing across the walls as debris rained down around them. Her claws slashed out, their edges glowing with condensed mana, and though Asta's Lycan Ultimate Mode allowed him to counter with his anti-magic claws, the queen's speed began to overwhelm him.
Each of her strikes was precise, shallow cuts slicing into the gaps in his armor. She wasn't aiming for a quick kill—she was dissecting him piece by piece, testing the limits of his endurance and regeneration. Asta growled in frustration, swiping back with his claws, but she danced just out of reach before retaliating with another flurry of blindingly fast attacks.
"She's too fast…" Asta muttered under his breath, feeling the strain in his muscles as he pushed his body to keep up. He needed something more—something faster.
Asta didn't hesitate. Howling as loud as possible, forcing the queen to retreat momentarily, and summoned his grimoire once more. The pages flipped furiously, glowing with a crimson and black light as his armor began to liquefy. The dense, feral plates of the Berserk Armor melted away, replaced by sleek, black plating that hugged his frame like a second skin.
The Interceptor Armor activated in a flash, its design built for speed and precision. Lightweight and streamlined, it reduced drag and maximized his reaction time. Asta flexed his fingers, feeling the difference instantly. His movements became sharper, his speed nearly doubling as he surged forward to meet the queen once more.
The battlefield became a storm of motion, the queen and Asta now evenly matched in speed. Every clash of their claws sent sparks flying, the dungeon trembling with each impact. Asta darted and weaved through her relentless strikes, his newfound agility allowing him to counter her attacks with precision.
But even with the Interceptor Armor, the queen's second form pushed him to his limits. Her strikes grazed his defenses, leaving thin trails of blood on his arms and legs. Her attacks were unrelenting, forcing Asta to think two steps ahead just to keep up.
Liebe's voice returned, more urgent this time. "Asta, even with this armor, you're just barely keeping pace. You need to push it further—activate the ultimate mode now!"
Just then, the Interceptor Armor began to glow, streams of anti-magic energy coursing through its sleek plates. The armor shifted slightly, its edges sharpening and its form becoming even more aerodynamic. The anti-magic aura intensified around him, and Asta felt his speed surge once more, his movements now rivaling the queen's blinding velocity.
The fight transformed into a deadly dance, both combatants moving faster than the eye could follow. The queen's claws slashed through the air with razor precision, but Asta's enhanced reflexes allowed him to parry and counter with devastating efficiency. Each strike of his anti-magic dagger tore into her condensed mana form, leaving deep, glowing wounds that crackled and burned.
Finally, Asta saw his chance. He feinted to the left, forcing the queen to overextend. He darted in, his anti-magic dagger glowing with intense energy, and struck it into her core. The queen's scream echoed throughout the dungeon, her body convulsing violently as cracks of mana spread across her form.
Her condensed mana began to spiral out of control, leaking from her body in unstable waves. Asta's eyes widened as her glowing form grew brighter and brighter, vibrating with unchecked energy.
"Wait.....SHE'S GONNA BLOW!!!!"
Summoning every ounce of strength, Asta activated the ultimate mode's full power. The anti-magic energy around him erupted, propelling him forward like a missile. The dungeon became a blur of collapsing walls and erupting mana as he bolted toward the exit.
When Asta finally burst out into the open air, the harsh sunlight hit his battered frame like a balm, but he barely had the strength to register it. Ahead of him, the rest of the group huddled together near a makeshift camp, Mimosa and Ryuu working tirelessly to stabilize the injured. Noelle and Yuno stood watch, their expressions tense as they scanned the horizon.
The moment Noelle saw Asta, her heart leapt into her throat. "Asta!" she cried, sprinting toward him.
His steps faltered as the last of his strength gave out. The Interceptor Armor disintegrated into streams of anti-magic energy, leaving him bare and vulnerable as he collapsed onto his knees. Despite the pain radiating through his entire body, he managed a crooked grin, his voice hoarse but filled with his signature defiance.
"Guess that's one way to clear a dungeon."
Noelle dropped to her knees beside him, her hands trembling as she hovered over his injuries. Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes, though she tried to mask her worry with irritation."You're an absolute idiot! Do you even realize how stupid that plan of yours was?!"
Mimosa rushed over, her healing magic already glowing faintly as she began tending to his wounds. "Asta, you shouldn't have pushed yourself so hard!"
Asta chuckled weakly, his breath ragged. "Come on… I'm fine. Just… a little scratched up."
Noelle smacked his shoulder lightly, her voice trembling despite her anger. "This is not funny, Asta! What would we have done if you hadn't made it back?!"
For a moment, Asta's grin softened, his gaze meeting hers. "Sorry, Noelle."
Noelle looked away, her cheeks flushing, but she didn't let go of his arm.
Just then, Secre fluttered down in her bird form, perching gently on Asta's head. She nuzzled into his hair, letting out a soft chirp. Asta laughed weakly, his hand raising to pat her. "Hey girl, did you miss me?"
Despite the tension still lingering in the air, a quiet sense of relief began to settle over the group. The threat was gone, and against all odds, they had survived.
Asta leaned back against the cool earth, letting his eyes drift closed for a moment. His exhaustion finally overtaking him as he slipped into unconsciousness.
Noelle and Mimosa exchanged a look, their worry far from gone, but seeing him alive was enough for now.
