"...and like this you get x = -2."
It was a normal math class like any other. Samuel, however, was far too distracted to pay attention. His eyes glazed over, and anyone who happened to glance at him might have assumed he was looking at a newly awakened system status panel. But in reality, Samuel wasn't so lucky. No, he was absorbed in something far more mundane.
With his focus elsewhere, Samuel's mind wandered. He couldn't help but stare at Mrs. Peterson, the teacher at the front of the room. And, like most of the other men in the class, his thoughts drifted in a very... unacademic direction.
Man, Mrs. Peterson's figure is on point today. If only her shirt were just a little tighter…
It wasn't an uncommon thought among the male students, but Samuel's gaze was a bit more obvious than the others. In fact, Mrs. Peterson noticed his stare and blushed, trying to maintain composure.
"Samuel, could you please focus on the lesson and not on… me?" she said, scolding him with a tone that was more playful than harsh.
"No can do, Mrs.," Samuel responded without thinking, his attention still fixated on her.
The room fell silent for a moment, and then, just as her glare landed on him, a booming voice resonated in his mind. The volume of it startled Samuel, making him leap out of his chair.
"Yeah, you'll do." The voice echoed before everything around Samuel went black.
When the world returned, he found himself standing on a vast stretch of plains that seemed endless. Before he could gather his bearings, a screen appeared in front of him, like some sort of strange hologram.
[Welcome and congratulations!]
Samuel was dumbstruck. He couldn't process what was happening.
[You've been selected by the God of Dual Cultivation to become his successor!]
"Wait—what do you mean I've become the successor to a god?" Samuel stammered. "I was just in class, and now I'm in some weird place with nothing around me. Am I supposed to survive out here? And what about food?!"
[Don't worry, everything is taken care of. The former God of Dual Cultivation selected you, and I'm here to make sure you thrive. There are some limitations, but we'll get to that later.]
"So... I'm the God of Dual Cultivation now? What does that even mean?" Samuel asked, his mind racing.
[You're basically the god of... well, of 'intimate relations.']
"Wait, what?! So, I'm the best lover in the universe now?! Can I go back and seduce Mrs. Peterson?" Samuel's mind went into overdrive.
[You have the potential to become the best lover in the universe, but you're not there yet. And I'd advise against returning to Earth for now. The people there are weak, and you'll need strong allies.]
"Aww, man, I just wanted to see Mrs. Peterson's assets again," Samuel muttered. "But, alright, what's the catch? Are there any perks or gifts for me?"
[Yes, I've got gifts. First, though, your appearance needs some work.]
Samuel's eyes widened. "Wait, what? My looks are fine!"
[No, they're really not. You need to be a reflection of the god you're replacing. But don't worry, it won't be a complete makeover—just a smaller version.]
"Wait, hold on, I can't take any more surprises today—"
Before he could finish, intense pain exploded through his body. It felt as though his very cells were being torn apart and rebuilt. It was agony, unlike anything he had ever experienced.
"Aarrghh!! What is this?!"
[Don't worry, the worst is over. From here on out, your body upgrades won't hurt as much.]
Once the pain finally subsided, Samuel looked up to see a mirror before him.
"Wait... is that me?" His voice shook as he saw his new reflection. His face was sculpted with sharp features—chiseled jaw, deep blue eyes that seemed to glow. His body had transformed into a well-defined, muscular form. He no longer looked like the lanky, average guy he once was.
His newfound physique could be described as a work of art. Every muscle was perfectly sculpted, making him appear almost unreal. But the most shocking change was lower down.
"Is that...?" Samuel's voice trailed off as he examined his new size. His body had changed in ways he hadn't anticipated.
[Yes, it's much larger now. But don't worry; it will fit, and it will feel great for your partners.]
"Wait, you're telling me this will actually work for women?" Samuel asked skeptically. "What if it's too big?"
[You are the God of Dual Cultivation, remember? It will work fine. Trust me.]
Samuel, still processing all of this, could feel his energy surge. A sudden burst of knowledge filled his mind.
[Here's the cultivation knowledge of the first five realms. Brace yourself.]
Samuel winced. Not again. A sharp headache hit him, and within a moment, the knowledge of the first five cultivation realms rushed into his mind:
Body Refining: Strengthening the body to withstand the vast energy of the world.Qi Refinement: Opening the meridians to channel energy and perform techniques.Foundation Establishment: Creating the dantian to store Qi, making spells more powerful.Golden Core: Refining Qi into pure essence for even greater power.Nascent Soul: Cultivating the soul so that it can survive the destruction of the body.
His body, still not having begun the Body Refinement stage, could start cultivating at any moment. But when he tried, nothing happened.
"Hey, system, why can't I break through? I feel like I should be able to."
[That's a limitation I set for you. To stay under the radar, you can't surpass the strongest woman in your harem. You won't be able to recruit women stronger than you either.]
Samuel grumbled. "So, even if a powerful woman wants to join me, I can't take her in?"
[Not unless you're stronger. But dual cultivation with you will accelerate her growth.]
"Great, so no super strong harem just yet," Samuel sighed. "Anything else I need to know?"
[Yes, one last thing: you'll hear the rumbling shortly. That's your final gift.]
Before Samuel could respond, a deafening rumble echoed around him, signaling that the next chapter of his new life was about to begin.
