Chapter 192 - Into The Lion's Den

The air inside the facility was thick with tension, and every sound seemed amplified. The team stood frozen, staring at Orion and his entourage blocking their escape. Behind them, the distant rumble of explosions signaled the imminent destruction of the cloning labs. But that destruction would mean nothing if they couldn't get out alive.

Orion's presence was unnervingly calm, his posture relaxed as if he held all the cards. He stood tall, his tailored suit unblemished despite the chaos around him. Beside him, the new Evelyn clone stood motionless, her expression cold and unreadable. Around them, armed guards shifted, their weapons trained on the team.

"Well, well," Orion began, his voice smooth like silk. "I have to admit, you've been a thorn in my side far longer than I anticipated. But this ends here."

Sana stepped forward, her eyes blazing with fury. "Your twisted games end here, Orion. We've seen your plans, your clones, your army. It's over."

Orion smirked. "You misunderstand, my dear. This isn't the end; it's merely a transition. While you've been busy playing heroes, I've been preparing for something far greater than you can imagine."

Zara clenched her fists, stepping beside Sana. "You've crossed every line imaginable, Orion. Whatever you're planning, we'll stop you."

Orion chuckled darkly. "You still think you have a choice? The only choice you'll make today is whether to surrender quietly or die in this burning building."

Rylan raised his gun, his voice steady. "We're not surrendering. And we're not dying here."

The guards moved to raise their weapons, but Orion raised a hand, stopping them. "Bold words. But even now, you're outnumbered, outgunned, and outmaneuvered. So tell me, Rylan, what's your plan?"

Rylan exchanged a quick glance with Zara, who subtly nodded. She had slipped a small device into her hand a backup detonator for a secondary set of charges she had secretly planted deeper in the lab.

"Distraction," Rylan said, firing the first shot.

The room erupted into chaos. Gunfire echoed as the team dove for cover. Zara activated the secondary detonator, causing a massive explosion that rocked the entire facility. Dust and debris filled the air, and the guards scrambled to maintain formation.

"Go!" Rylan shouted, urging the team to move toward a side corridor.

The facility was a labyrinth of sterile white hallways and reinforced doors. With Zara leading the way, the team weaved through the corridors, dodging guards and avoiding the rapidly spreading flames.

"Where are we going?" Sana asked, her voice strained.

"To the heart of this place," Zara replied. "Orion's operation isn't just about the clones. There's something bigger here, something he's hiding. If we take it out, we cripple him for good."

As they turned a corner, they stumbled upon a massive control room. Monitors lined the walls, displaying live feeds from various parts of the facility and beyond. Zara's eyes widened as she scanned the screens.

"This is it," she said. "This is where he's been controlling everything—the clones, the networks, even his private army."

Sana nodded, gripping her blade. "Then we destroy it."

As Zara worked to hack into the system, the rest of the team prepared for an inevitable confrontation. They didn't have to wait long. The door burst open, and Orion himself strode in, flanked by more guards and the Evelyn clone.

"You've gone too far this time," Orion said, his voice low and dangerous. "I was willing to let you live, but now you've forced my hand."

Sana stepped forward, her blade gleaming. "You're done, Orion. This ends now."

Orion smiled coldly. "You think you can stop me? You're nothing more than pawns in a game you don't understand."

With a signal, the Evelyn clone lunged at Sana, and the guards opened fire. The room descended into chaos once again, the sound of gunfire and clashing weapons filling the air.

The battle was intense, each member of the team fighting with everything they had. Zara worked furiously at the control panel, trying to override Orion's systems while dodging stray bullets.

Rylan engaged Orion directly, their fight brutal and unrelenting. Orion was faster and more skilled than Rylan had anticipated, and every blow he landed seemed calculated to inflict maximum pain.

"You're out of your league," Orion sneered, throwing Rylan against a console. "You should have stayed in the shadows where you belong."

But Rylan refused to back down. "I don't need to beat you," he said, a determined gleam in his eye. "I just need to hold you off long enough."

Meanwhile, Sana found herself locked in a deadly duel with the Evelyn clone. Every move the clone made was eerily precise, as if it could predict Sana's attacks.

"You're just a copy," Sana said through gritted teeth. "You can never replace her."

The clone tilted its head, a faint smile playing on its lips. "Maybe not. But I'm stronger, faster, and more loyal than she ever was."

Sana's anger boiled over, and she fought with renewed intensity. Finally, she managed to disarm the clone, plunging her blade into its chest. But as it collapsed, it whispered something that froze Sana in her tracks.

"She's still alive... the real Evelyn. Orion has her."

Sana's heart skipped a beat. "What did you say?"

The clone's lips curled into a faint smirk before it went still.

Just as Sana processed the clone's words, Zara shouted from the control panel. "I've got access! But there's a problem this system is tied to a self-destruct sequence. If I shut it down, the entire facility will blow in five minutes!"

Rylan, bleeding but still standing, turned to her. "Do it. We'll find a way out."

Zara hesitated. "Are you sure? This place is a death trap. We might not make it."

"We don't have a choice," Sana said, her voice firm despite the turmoil inside her. "If Evelyn's alive, we have to find her. But first, we take Orion down."

Zara activated the sequence, and an alarm blared throughout the facility. The countdown had begun.

As the team prepared to make their escape, Orion stepped into their path once again, his face twisted in rage.

"You think you've won?" he snarled. "You'll never leave this place alive."

The team cornered, the clock ticking down, and Orion blocking their only exit. The stakes have never been higher, and the line between survival and destruction is razor thin.
