Summer kept staring at her phone for a little longer, who was this man? And how the hell did he know her?
She had to know.
"How do I search for this man? I have to wait for Ralph to come back home." Summer muttered to herself.
Ralph did not allow Summer to use the internet till the time he was at work, she only had her phone and she could use that phone to make normal calls. Ralph would remove the WIFI connection before he left for work. Having a laptop was out of question.
Summer got up and went towards the kitchen, finally deciding to make some breakfast for herself. It was already 1 p.m. This had been the most shocking morning she had experienced ever since she had landed in London, even surpassing the day Ralph hit her for the first time, just 1 week after they'd landed in the United Kingdom from India.
Summer broke 3 eggs and the pan sizzled, while she dazed off to that un-fateful day over a year back.
"Ralph, London is beautiful. Can we go on a walk?"
"No! I have work right now Summer."
"But, you've been so busy ever since we've been here, come na, let's go out somewhere…" Summer insisted.
"NOT RIGHT NOW SUMMER!" Ralph said, this time a gritting his teeth in irritation.
Summer took a step back, then softly said, "Okay, I'll wait downstairs, you let me know whenever you're free okay? It's been a week we've been here and we've not gone out anywhere. I just wanted to go out and explore, that's all."
This time, Ralph got up from the bed and took a deep breath, then he slowly moved towards Summer staring right into her eyes with all the rage he could muster up. Looking at Ralph walking towards her, Summer felt uneasy, unknowingly she took a step back.
"Come here Summer…" Ralph said now standing near the bed with his hands folded.
"I…was just…" Summer said, almost breathless. Ralph's gaze was so intense that Summer froze in her spot.
"WOULD YOU FUCKING COME NEAR ME!!" This time, Ralph screamed.
Scared and shocked, Summer slowly walked towards Ralph from the bedroom door.
"Ralph, I am sorry… I'll wait downstairs. I am really s...sorry…" Summer made one last attempt before standing one step away from Ralph.
In an instant Ralph held her face aggressively and pulled her towards himself, then bringing his face closer to hers and tightening his grip on her face, he said "I will only say a thing once and you will fucking listen, do you understand Summer?"
"OUCH! Ralph please, you're hurting me…"
"DO YOU UNDERSTAND SUMMER?"
Tears started rolling down Summer's face, the man who got her from India, the man she met online and fell in love with, the man who married her against her family's wishes was now hurting her. Summer was in shock!
"Ralph, I…why would you? PLEASE STOP! You're hurting me. PLEASE…" Summer struggled in his grip, trying to get his hand off her face. On Impulse, Ralph twisted her arm and held it hard towards her back.
"Summer, I swear to god, you're testing my patience right now. I will not let you go, unless you tell me, you'd do as I say." Ralph said, throwing Summer on the bed and getting on top of her.
"Do you really want to fight me on this one love? Are you that stupid huh?" Ralph said, putting all his body weight onto Summer's petite frame, pinning her legs with his and biting her lower lip hard with his teeth.
"Ah! I am sorry, I am sorry. Please. I understand. Please Ralph, please stop."
'Oh baby, but I am already into it now. You turned me on." Ralph said licking Summer's cheek.
Summer's lower lip now bled from Ralph's intense bite, her face was now completely flushed, her body ached under Ralph's weight. Summer struggled, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Ralph please, I am sorry, I beg you. Please stop!"
Ralph suddenly stood up, then grabbed Summer by her neck, making her stand again.
"That's right. Do not ever question me back Summer. I got you here for a reason, remember that. Now go down there, be a good girl and make some nice lunch for your husband. Okay?" Ralph said finally releasing Summer's neck.
Summer nodded a 'yes' in panic, while coughing.
Ralph stared at her a little longer, before Summer ran downstairs towards the kitchen.
The smell of burnt omelet broke Summer's reverie, she was back in the present, back to her sad life. Quickly switching off the gas, Summer flipped the burnt omelet on her plate and toasted two breads.
She then started preparing the tea. She missed how it tasted back home. As much as she tried, the tea she made here, did not taste half as good as it tasted back home.
Summer sat on the sofa to have her breakfast in peace, when Sunshine came and sat beside her. Omelet was her favorite too. Summer ate the burnt parts and gave the softer egg white parts to Sunshine, while happily the dog wagged her tail.
The bloodied face of the man kept flashing in front of Summer.
"Gustav Fabiano…who could he be?"
Before Summer could finish her meal, her doorbell rang.
Summer ran towards the entrance to open the door and saw Mrs. Johnson standing worried."
"Oh gosh Summer, thank god you're safe." Mrs. Robinson, her neighbor said, looking at Summer lovingly.
"Please come in Mrs. Johnson," Summer said softly.
"Darling, I heard about the gun fires and murder. I was in the shop. The police has cordoned off the area, our lane is all sealed. I was so worried about you because you're right next door."
'I am okay Mrs. Johnson, don't worry. Would you like some tea?"
"Oh yes, please. I love the tea you make." She said smiling.
Summer got up and heated the leftover tea she made for herself, then plating it with some cream biscuits, she brought it back to Mrs. Johnson on a wooden tray.
"I am sorry, I should have been here earlier Summer…"
'It's okay Mrs. Johnson, I appreciate you coming here…" Summer replied softly.
'Is Ralph okay?" Mrs. Johnson asked petting little Sunshine.
"Yes… he was not home. In office!"
"Oh! Thank god. Let me know if I can be of any help. If you need anything darling…" She now asked sipping her tea.
"Actually Mrs. Johnson, I...I need a favor from you.." Summer said on impulse.
"Yes, my child, Tell me..."
"Could I come to your house to use your laptop? I…I need to email my mother back home. Her phone is not reachable and my internet is not working."
"My laptop? Sure, no problem my love."
Summer smiled to herself knowing, this was the only way she could know about Gustav Fabiano.
