During the next days that followed, it was only if Thomas didn't visit because once he did, there would be a huge scuffle between the two. One could sense the strong enmity between both of them. They would always be cursing each other. It always took Carl's effort to separate them. After some time, Carl told Thomas to stop coming to the house, unless he was aware. Thomas reluctantly obliged. Carl also continued to buy gifts for Isabel but as usual, she rejected them brutally. Carl was hurt by her behavior and actions but he wasn't willing to give up that easily. He always encourage himself that with time, he would win her.
One day, as Isabel was playing with her phone, she suddenly thought of Adrian. Gosh, she misses him so badly. After thier last encounter, she had not heard from him again. She tried calling his number but the phone was off. Maybe Adrian was angry with her, she thought to herself. Then she all of a sudden thought of visiting Adrian, but stopped in her tracks as she recalled Carl's words on their wedding night. After a serious battle with her mind, she took her purse and made her mind up to visit him. Soon, she found herself in front of Adrian's house. She took in a deep breath and pressed on the door bell. To her surprise, the door opened and a lady stood there. She was astonished since Adrian was the only person living there and she was sure Adrian had no sister, so who was this stranger. Knowing her anger issues, she calmed herself before she could create any mess and said to herself
" Calm down girl, and talk politely. It's not what you are thinking okay, Adrian cannot cheat on you. "
Despite all her efforts, her expression betrayed her as she said with no hidden disgust
" Excuse me, who are you and what are you doing here "
The lady frowned and was about to talk when they heard a woman's voice.
" Pinky, who is it "
Isabel instantly frozed. She was more than familiar with that voice and she would never forget that voice. She could even tell the owner of the voice even in deep slumber. Also, she wasn't ready to meet her not now but her footsteps were slowly nearing. Isabel felt tensed and she heard Pinky reply
" Aunt I do not know, is a wierd lady "
Right after saying that a woman appeared in Isabel's sight. She chuckled and asked
" Who's that wierd la..... "
But she stopped in her tracks. That was when she realized Isabel was there. Her voice turned cold all of a sudden and she asked in anger
" What are you doing here young lady "
Isabel couldn't form any coherent thought and she just stammered
" I..... I... I..... "
To her horror, the woman emotionlessly shut the door. She quickly returned to her senses and stopped the door in time saying
" Wait.... Aunt.."
The woman stopped midway and said coldly.
" What now, I have something busy doing and I hope you know you are not worth a scrap of my time "
Isabel breathed heavily and quickly said what she dreaded the most waiting for the woman's reaction
" Aunt, is Adrian...in..., I would like to.... have a word with him "
The woman suddenly laughed sarcastically and said
" You are not kidding me right, ha-ha-haaa "
Then her face suddenly turned cold as she said
" What do you want with my son again, are you not satisfied. You are probably here to check if he is dead, right. Then let me break the sad news to you... he's fine and is still recuperating."
She said with a smirk on her face but Isabel was shivering after hearing the woman's words
" R -e-c-u-p-e-r-a-t-i-n-g "
The woman sneered
" Oh.... You are such a good pretender. My son has been hospitalized since the day your father made his men beat him mercilessly. Please allow him to recuperate in peace "
. Isabel's eyes widened in surprise. What did Adrian's mother meant. Adrian has been hospitalized since he was beaten. Gosh it has been several days almost 2 years "
" Which..... which hospital "?
Adrian's mother rolled her eyes and scoffed
" Isabel, were you sent to destroy us. So you think my son would want to be with you especially after what you and your father did to him. Only the blind would do that and my son is far from blind. He will never fall for someone like you bear that in your coconut and let him be....Bang...."
She ruthlessly shut the door and Isabel stood there trembling. The only thing she could think of was Adrian was still in the hospital. Her father was really cruel. But, would Adrian accept her again after all the troubles she caused. Of course not.... Adrian might be mad at her and besides she was still married. Nevertheless, she decided to give it a try. She went and sat in her car and wept bitterly. So this was the end. Won't she meet Adrian again? No.....she refused, if not then at least for the last time. She wiped her teary eyes and made a call on her phone
" Search for the hospital that Adrian was admitted and send it to me. I need it ASAP "
The person on the other line replied professionally
" Yes ma'am "
Soon she got a message from the person giving her information on Adrian's hospital. She sighed with determination and quickly drove to her destination in haste.
