Sunlight illuminates parts of the world, bringing warmth and freshness to all living beings in the morning. The rays seem to bring new life and vigor to those who continue to struggle. The wind blows gently, bringing coolness and whispers of memories full of longing and affection. With the wind, plant seeds are scattered all over, ready to grow and spread new life wherever they are planted.
In a large garden field on one side of the palace, warm sunlight dappled the green expanse filled with herbs and medicinal plants. The garden was sprawling, neatly organized with a variety of plants such as mint leaves, chamomile, lavender, and ginseng root, all placed in orderly rows. Several young physicians under the guidance of the head physician were busy picking leaves and flowers that were ready to be harvested. Meanwhile, the assistant head physician of the palace records each harvest in a ledger.
At one of the rows of plants, Yosan squatted down. Although his body still looked weak, his spirit was clearly visible. His daughter Lia squats beside him, carrying a small basket of freshly picked lavender flowers. Her little face is beaming, enjoying this morning's activity. Attentively, she observes the budding herbal flowers with her father.
For the first time, Lia was involved in this herbal farming activity. Unlike Yosan who had done it many times before, for Lia, this experience was something new and exciting.
"Dad, what is the name of this flower? And what is its use? Is it the same as lavender?" asked Lia curiously, pointing to one of the chamomile flowers that was blooming.
Receiving his daughter's enthusiastic question, Yosan couldn't help but feel excited. A gentle smile graced his face, and he stroked Lia's hair lovingly. "The name of this flower is chamomile," Yosan replied, showing the flower. "This flower is often used to make a tea that calms the mind and body. Usually, people drink it when they feel anxious or have trouble sleeping, as chamomile helps calm the nerves."
Lia listened attentively, her eyes twinkling as she studied her father's explanation. "So, this flower can make us sleep better, huh?"
"If I'm not mistaken, mom used to ask grandma to make chamomile tea before bed too," Lia said as she folded her hands, her face scrunching up at the memory.
Yosan nodded with a smile. "That's right. That's why this flower is planted more in this garden than other herbs and flowers, because of its excellent benefits."
"Especially mom really needs it to sleep faster and better," Yosan added, remembering Reina's habit of drinking chamomile tea every night after staying up too late to finish her assignments.
Lia looked even more interested. "Then, are there any flowers that function similarly to chamomile, Father?"
Yosan tapped his chin with his index finger, thinking for a moment. For years he had studied the herbs and flowers in the palace garden, finding out the benefits and properties of each type. After a while, he smiled.
"Yes, there are some flowers that have similar benefits to chamomile," Yosan replied. "For example, jasmine. Jasmine also has calming properties and is often used to help you sleep better. In addition, valerian flowers are also known to have similar effects to chamomile, helping to relieve anxiety and giving a sense of calm."
Lia listened enthusiastically, her eyes twinkling in amazement at the stunning nature and her father's vast knowledge of various plants. Not just about basic knowledge in general, but also stories from distant places, fairy tales that often served as lullabies, to matters relating to royal affairs that not everyone knew. It made Lia even more proud of her father.
"Wow... Nature is really great. You're just as great for knowing so much about the plants here," Lia said admiringly, her voice full of pride. "I want to learn more so that one day I can be like you who knows so much."
Yosan chuckled at his daughter's words. "You praise me too much, Lia. Everything I know comes from study and experience. If you want, someday I'll teach you everything."
Lia nodded excitedly. "I want to, Dad! I want to know more about all these plants, so I can also make tea for Mom and help people."
Yosan smiled proudly at his daughter. "That's a good intention, Lia. But remember, learning about plants requires patience. Just as they grow slowly, we must also slowly understand them. Never rush, because all beautiful things in this world take time to grow."
Lia nodded solemnly, seeming to understand her father's words. "I will be patient, Daddy. I promise!" she said in a cheerful voice.
Amidst the warm conversation, Elexon called out in the distance, carrying a basket full of freshly harvested ginseng and mushrooms. A gentle breeze blew, making his white hair move slightly, while the coat he wore fluttered lightly. His elegant and stern appearance exuded authority, but also added value to his good looks that did not fade despite his age.
Elexon's appearance took Lia and Yosan's breath away. It was as if the radiance of his authority dazzled their eyes.
"Yosan, Lia, come here. The food is ready," Elexon exclaimed in a low but clear voice, waving to them.
"Grandpa is really a handsome man," Lia praised admiringly, still unable to take her eyes off Elexon's figure.
Yosan heard that and also nodded, his gaze the same as his daughter's. "You're right. Even though he's no longer young," he replied while responding to Lia's admiration.
Lia suddenly prostrated herself while clasping her hands together, turning her face to the ground solemnly. "Oh God, please give me a soul mate as handsome as Grandfather and as loyal as Daddy. I promise to be a good and filial daughter to my parents!"
Yosan was immediately surprised to hear the request. "What are you saying? You're still a child, don't think and say things that-"
"Shut up, Dad! Lia is asking God," Lia cut in quickly, turning her head and looking at her father sharply.
Yosan was stunned, not expecting his daughter to say such a thing to him. His surprise was clearly reflected on his face. Before he could respond, Elexon's voice rang out again, calling them more forcefully. "Lia, Yosan!"
"Yes, Grandpa!" Lia replied quickly. She immediately stood up while carrying her harvest basket, then stepped excitedly towards Elexon.
"Lia, be careful! You'll fall if you run like that," Yosan exclaimed, worried at his daughter's hasty steps.
However, Lia didn't seem to care and continued on her merry way. Yosan could only shake his head, sigh, and then try to stand up straight to catch up. Unfortunately, his weak body made it rather difficult.
A young healer who happened to be nearby immediately approached and reached out to help him. "Let me help you," he said politely.
"Ah, thank you," Yosan said as she carefully accepted the help.
The young physician smiled kindly. "It looks like you are still not fully recovered. Don't push yourself too hard."
Yosan nodded slowly. "You're right. But seeing Lia in such good spirits, I want to continue accompanying her, even though this body sometimes feels heavy."
The young healer smiled in understanding. "That's a good spirit, Yosan. But, take care of your health, because Lia would also want you to stay healthy for a long time."
Yosan smiled warmly at that. "Thank you for your concern."
With the young healer's help, Yosan was finally able to step steadily towards the place where people had gathered. On the mats spread out in the garden, Elexon, Lia, and the others were already waiting while enjoying various snacks and drinks. The sound of laughter and light conversation could be heard amidst the peaceful atmosphere.
Warm sunshine enveloped the garden, and the breeze carried the fresh scent of the blooming herbal flowers, creating a very special atmosphere for all who were there.
