Chapter 3 - Contract With The God Of Games (III)

The God of Games gave a slight wave of his hand, causing a shimmering screen of magic circles to appear in front of Benjamin.

It wasn't a random assortment of options, though — each circle was carefully designed, and within them were choices that would shape Benjamin's destiny. The Karmic points he'd accumulated were more valuable than he'd ever imagined.

They were the currency that would decide his place in the new world, and Benjamin needed to spend them wisely.

"Alright," the God of Games said, leaning forward in his chair, "Here's where the real decision-making begins. You've earned your Karmic points. Now, you're going to use them to pick your class and skills. These two are going to define you in Chronicles of Deremiah — make sure you choose carefully."

Benjamin nodded, focusing intently on the magic circles.

His mind raced, the weight of his choices pressing down on him. His future in the game depended on these decisions, and he couldn't afford to mess it up.

But then, a thought struck him, something that had been nagging at the back of his mind since the conversation had started.

"Wait," he said, furrowing his brow. "Before we get into all this… Am I going to be reincarnated as a baby? You know, like some of those fantasy stories where the character has to grow up from nothing?"

The God of Games raised an eyebrow and shrugged. "What, like you want to waste years of your life crawling around in a crib? Not happening. No one's got time for that, especially not in a world where there are beauties roaming around. I'm not sending you to some sandbox start-up life. You'll be reincarnated into a capable body — one that can handle the challenges ahead."

Benjamin let out a sigh of relief.

He hadn't exactly been looking forward to the idea of spending years just learning how to walk, let alone survive in a new world. "Good," he muttered under his breath. "I can live with that."

The God of Games seemed amused by Benjamin's reaction, but he didn't linger on the matter.

Instead, he motioned toward the magic circles in front of them, each glowing with power. "Now, focus. You need to pick your class first. Classes are everything in this world — they define your abilities, your potential, your entire way of interacting with the world around you. There are different ranks, of course — lower-ranked ones are easier to access, but the higher-ranked ones are where the real power lies. Pick wisely."

Benjamin's eyes narrowed as he looked over the classes that were laid out before him.

Each one had a cost in Karmic points, and the higher the rank, the more expensive they became. As he scrolled through the options, he was immediately drawn to a few that seemed particularly enticing.

[SSS Rank Class: Hell's Knight]

[Cost: 250 Karmic Points]

The Hell's Knight class was incredibly tempting. From what Benjamin knew, it was an unstoppable juggernaut of a class — a powerhouse of destruction, capable of overwhelming any enemy with raw strength however lacking defense.

But he hesitated for a moment, his eyes scanning further down the list. As impressive as the Hell's Knight was, he wasn't sure that brute force would be the best approach for him.

After all, he didn't want to just be strong — he wanted to be versatile, to have an edge that would give him an advantage in more ways than one.

Scrolling a bit further down, he came across another option that made his heart race.

[SSS Rank Class: Time Warrior]

[Cost: 250 Karmic Points]

It wasn't as flashy or as immediately destructive as Hell's Knight, but there was something about it that called to him.

Time was power. Time controlled the flow of events. Time could bend the very fabric of reality to its will. The idea of being a Time Warrior was more than just appealing — it felt like the perfect choice.

The Time Warrior class would give him control over time manipulation — slowing time down, speeding it up, or even reversing it in certain situations depending on his control over it.

It wasn't just about power; it was about having an unmatched tactical advantage.

Benjamin could already imagine how useful such a class would be, especially when dealing with the game's unpredictable mechanics. It could make the difference between life and death, success and failure.

Without a second thought, Benjamin tapped the Time Warrior class with his finger. As soon as he did, the Karmic points were drained from his total, and the class was locked in. There was no going back now, and he didn't regret it for a second. This was the class that would give him the edge he needed.

The God of Games gave a small nod of approval, but he didn't seem surprised. It was clear that Benjamin had made a well-thought-out decision.

"Good choice," the God said, his voice sounding oddly pleased. "Time manipulation is a tricky power, but if you use it wisely, it'll be one of the most versatile abilities in the game. The question is — are you ready for the responsibility that comes with it?"

Benjamin gave a confident smile. "I'm ready. Let's see what else I can unlock."

The God of Games gestured to the next series of magic circles that appeared before Benjamin. These circles were filled with a variety of skills — combat skills, magical abilities, support powers, and more.

There were so many choices, and Benjamin had to pick wisely again. He couldn't afford to waste his remaining Karmic points on skills that wouldn't serve him well.

He started by focusing on the combat skills. Slash was a basic skill, but it was effective. Fireball was an obvious choice for offense, though it wasn't the most versatile. But then, his eyes caught something that made his heart skip a beat.

[S-Rank Skill: Temporal Strike]

[Cost: 120 Karmic Points]

It was a skill that combined his class abilities with pure combat effectiveness.

A temporal-based strike that allowed the user to distort time momentarily, making their attacks faster and stronger for a short period of time.
