Prologue
Rosa stood in front of her dressing mirror, gazing at her reflection as the soft fabric of her wedding gown shimmered under the light. She whispered to herself, her voice trembling with excitement, "Today, I'm going to be Mrs. Rolland."
Her bridesmaid, Lilian, stepped forward and gently adjusted Rosa's veil. "You look stunning today," Lilian said with a grin. "I'm sure Donald won't even recognize you."
Rosa smiled, her joy radiating like sunshine, but deep down, a hint of nervousness flickered within her.
On their way to the waiting limousine, Rosa's thoughts wandered. She seemed distant as Lilian's voice cut through her silence. "Are you okay?"
Rosa hesitated, forcing a reassuring smile. "I'm fine. Just a little nervous."
The two women climbed into the pristine white limousine, its interior luxurious and fitting for a day meant to be magical. As they drove toward the wedding venue, Rosa's heart fluttered with excitement at the thought of marrying Donald Rolland, the man she loved. The conversation between her and Lilian was light, filled with laughter and dreams of the future, until—
Bang!
The sharp sound of a gunshot pierced the air, shattering the peace. Rosa froze in terror, her voice rising in panic. "Stop! Don't go any further!" she screamed at the driver.
Rosa—a beautiful woman with aspirations—finds herself on the brink of an unraveling truth that could destroy her sanity. Donald—a man who believed in the sanctity of marriage—will soon discover that love can also be a battlefield.
Donald Rolland—known for his brilliance in the business world—was a man people admired, yet he was also an enigma. To Rosa, he was both her dream and her uncertainty.
Will their love be strong enough to endure the revelations ahead, or will it crumble under the weight of the truth?
This is a tale of love, betrayal, and destiny—a journey where hearts are tested and trust becomes the ultimate sacrifice.
Chapter One: My Today's life
Rosa's POV
I remembered those days I stayed at my dad's house as a nobody. My mum died when I was a little girl; I was ten then. I missed my beautiful mom.
When Jessica, my stepmother, entered my life, a traumatic incident happened.
"Mom, I didn't do it. My classmates lied against me," I sobbed as I told her about the lies. I was accused of stealing someone's maths set. My stepmom came over to our school to pick me up that day when my teacher reported me to her.
"Ma'am, she didn't do it. They all lied against her," Benson, my friend, spoke boldly without fear.
Trembling as she stared at me, sending shivers down my spine, she dragged me into the car. My stepmom, who had always been the best mom in the universe to me after my mother's death, not only believed that I was lying but also punished me for something I didn't know of. I felt bittered.
"I can see that you've started lying to me. All this is because you keep bad company," my mom yelled, and my father, Thompson, intervened to save me from scolding.
"Why won't you trust your daughter? She said she didn't do it!" my dad screamed at my stepmom over me. Immediately, I ran to my dad and stopped crying.
That day marked the final day I referred to my stepmom as my mother. However, in the days that followed, I limited my dialogue with her to only necessary matters.
Well, in my today's life, I have met the love of my life, Donald Rolland, a young, handsome CEO of Hilly's company.
Donald called...
"Hi, babe. Are you ready? I'm coming over to pick you for our date."
After that call, I kept smiling and feeling so excited. I ran to the bathroom. I took my bath. As I was bathing, I kept singing.
A few minutes later, I ran out of my bathroom wearing my red floral dress and my beautiful black stilettos. While adjusting my makeup, I heard a horn.
"That should be Donald," I said. I quickly dashed out the door after picking my black purse.
Donald's POV
Coming out of my black Maybach car, she walked towards me. The moonlight danced across her face, highlighting the gentle curves of her cheeks and the soft, inviting shape of her lips. Her long, dark hair swayed with each step, like a sensual rhythm that drew me in.
I stood transfixed beside my car, my eyes locked on hers as she approached. The sound of her stilettos clicking on the pavement was like music to my ears, building anticipation with each step.
As she drew closer, I could see the sparkle in her eyes, the hint of a smile playing on her lips. My heart quickened, my senses came alive, and I knew in that moment—I was a goner.
I complimented her, "You're beautiful, Rosa."
She smiled and whispered, "Thanks, love."
She gave me a kiss on my cheek and a warm hug. I shivered like a little baby that fell inside chill water. I opened the front car door; she walked in like an angel sent from heaven and sat down comfortably. The lavender fragrance in my car soothed the atmosphere.
Rosa's POV
As I stepped out of the car, the cool evening air caressed my skin, and I couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement. My boyfriend and I, Donald, offered me his arm, and I took it, feeling like a queen as we walked into the high-end luxury restaurant.
The head waiter greeted us with a warm smile and escorted us to our luxury private restaurant. The restaurant was elegantly decorated with crisp white linens, fine china, and sparkling crystal. A breathtaking view of the city skyline stretched out before us, making me feel like we were on top of the world.
Donald pulled out my chair, and I sat down, feeling grateful for this romantic evening. He took his seat across from me, his eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that made my heart skip a beat.
"So, my dear," he said, his voice low and husky, "I have a surprise for you tonight."
I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh? What is it?"
Donald smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You'll just have to wait and see."
I laughed, feeling a flutter in my chest. I loved it when Donald was mysterious and playful. It always made me feel like I was on an adventure with him.
As we perused the menu, Donald reached across the table and took my hand, his fingers intertwining with mine. I felt a jolt of electricity at his touch, and I knew that this was going to be a night to remember.
