Chapter 1
"Mommy, Daddy, I'm scared", the little girl cried, clutching her teddy bear tightly.
"Don't worry little one", the father said, "Daddy is going to protect you and Mommy"
"But who's going to protect Daddy?"
"Don't worry about me baby, keep your mommy safe okay", he said, hugging the little girl as she continued crying. Then he left. Gunshots were heard.
"Daddy!!", the little girl screamed. Her mother covered her mouth. "Hush dear, everything's going to be fine".
The mother said although she knew it wasn't fine. She was just trying to be strong for her baby girl when deep down, she was falling apart.
Footsteps were approaching. "The little girl, where is the little girl?"
"She's your heir right?", the voices were saying.
"She's not here, you're never going to find her", the father shouted.
"Really, then what do we have here?". A man walked in dragging the child and her mother behind him.
"No! leave them alone, it's me you want", the father said with a pained expression.
One of the men pulled the little girl away from her mother. The little girl screamed as the big man pulled her.
Her mother couldn't do anything as she too was beingĀ held captive by another man.
"The Anderson bloodline ends today", the leader said.
"No! Leave my wife and daughter out of this", he pleaded. "Too late", the leader said and one of his men shot the mother.
The little girl bit her attackers hand and ran to her mother's lifeless body. Her father followed suit.
"Any last words old man?", the leader said mockingly. Ignoring him, the father whispered to the little girl.
"When I give the signal, you ran as fast as you can, don't stop running until you know you're safe, your Mommy and I love you very much.
When you're older, you would understand everything and remember, we Anderson's never go down without a fight, you are an Anderson, always and forever", with that, he hugged her.
The men grabbed him, he tried fighting them off. "Now, baby", he shouted and the little girl ran away.
There was a gunshot and the father fell to the ground.
The little girl remembered her father's words and with tears in her eyes, she ran as fast as her little legs could take her.
The five year old had lost her family that day, and it would remain etched in her brain forever.
