Sakura's POV
The air was thick with the sound of battle: growls, roars, and the vicious crack of bones breaking under the force of blows. I could barely keep track of everything happening around me—wolves, vampires, allies, enemies—all moving in a blur of rage and survival. But through it all, there was one thought that consumed me.
I had to get away.
The Cullens were fighting fiercely alongside their allies, but I remembered something from the movies—the Volturi didn't tolerate disobedience. And they didn't hesitate to wipe out entire covens of newborns. They would come for us—just like they had done to in the movies to Bree. It was only a matter of time before the Volturi arrived to clean up the mess.
The newborn army was already at a disadvantage. We weren't organized like the Cullens and their allies, and many of us were still too wild, too feral. The Volturi wouldn't care about any of that. They would come in, kill every last one of us, and claim victory.
I wasn't going to let that happen.
I couldn't afford to stay and fight like the others. The newborn army might be expendable to Victoria, but to me, my survival meant everything—especially now that I knew the bond between Rosalie and I was real. I needed to escape, and I needed to do it fast.
Every time I tried to focus, to move toward Rosalie, I was swarmed by more enemies. Vampires and wolves alike were attacking from all directions. I had no choice but to fight my way through them, using my vectors to knock them aside or redirect their attacks. But I couldn't bring myself to kill any of them. They were allies, or at least, they were fighting for a cause I couldn't ignore.
There—Rosalie.
I spotted her across the battlefield, her golden eyes flashing with determination, but she was swarmed by newborns. I could see it now—the fear in her eyes. She was a force, but the numbers were against her.
I wanted to run to her, to protect her, but the fear of the Volturi's inevitable arrival gripped me tighter than any bond could. If I stayed, they would kill me. They would kill everyone.
I had to get away.
With a burst of speed, I shot through the battlefield, using my vectors to slice through the chaos without harming anyone. I avoided the wolves, weaving in and out of the trees, making my way toward the edge of the forest. But the fight wasn't over yet. I could hear the wolves howling, their pack mentality growing stronger as they rallied around the Cullens.
I needed to get far away. Fast.
I couldn't afford to be seen by anyone from the Cullen family. Not yet. If I was caught, I might be forced to stay and fight, or worse, I'd end up in the Volturi's hands.
As I neared the edge of the forest, my mind raced. I could still feel the bond with Rosalie pulling at me, urging me to stay. To fight by her side. But that would be a death sentence. I had to leave, for her sake as much as my own. I didn't know how she would react when she realized I was gone, but I couldn't risk being captured.
I could still hear the battle raging behind me. The sound of vampires clashing, the crack of bones breaking. I had to move faster.
In the distance, I saw the first signs of the Volturi's approach. Their dark figures moving with eerie precision, as though they had been waiting for this moment. It made my blood run cold.
I pushed harder, my legs carrying me faster than I'd ever run before. Every instinct told me to keep moving, keep running, until I was out of their reach. I couldn't let them find me. Not like they had found Bree.
I had to survive.
I didn't know what would happen when the battle ended, but I knew one thing for sure: if I stayed, I would die.
Rosalie's POV
The battle had taken a darker turn. The newborns were falling fast, but there were so many of them. We were pushing them back, but the cost was high. I wasn't tired. We weren't supposed to tire. Vampires like us didn't feel exhaustion, not in the traditional sense.
But something was wrong.
I had seen her—Sakura.
I had seen her fight like a force of nature. Her power was raw, unrefined, but she was using it to hold back the tide. But then… she disappeared.
I couldn't explain it. One moment she was there, somehow cutting down the newborns who tried to harm me. The next, she was gone.
I didn't know why, but I felt a pang in my chest. The bond between us hadn't snapped yet, not fully. It was there, just beneath the surface. But it was like a thread of silk, fragile and delicate, waiting for the right moment to bind us together.
And now, she was gone. Disappeared into the trees like a ghost.
"Where is she?" I muttered under my breath, scanning the battlefield frantically.
Jasper caught my eye, his face hard with determination. "We have to focus. The Volturi will be here soon. We can't afford to—"
"No," I interrupted, my voice sharp. "I need to find her. She's gone."
But before I could say anything else, I heard it. The distant sound of footsteps crashing through the trees—heavy, fast, and getting closer. I felt a chill crawl up my spine. The Volturi had arrived.
The battle was over.
