Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 Master

Then she waited.

The seconds stretched into minutes, the silence of the room amplifying her disappointment. Her shoulders sagged as she lowered herself onto a nearby seat, covering her face with her hands. Why didn't he come? Was I wrong to call him?

"Thought you'd never call," came a deep, familiar voice.

Mazikeen sprang from her seat, her heart racing as her eyes locked onto the towering figure of Lord Xandros. He stood in the doorway, his presence commanding and his expression calm. Relief flooded her, and she bowed quickly, her long hair cascading over her shoulders.

"And I thought you would never come," she said with a smile, her voice lighter now.

Xandros tilted his head slightly, a ghost of a smile on his lips. "You called, and I don't have the power to decline my Master's call." His tone was formal, but there was a warmth in his eyes that made Maze's chest tighten.

The word "Master." Maze felt a pang of confusion. Why did he call her that? She wanted to ask, but she hesitated, unsure if she was ready for the answer. Shaking off the thought, she gestured toward a seat across from her.

"Thank you for honoring my call, Lord Xandros. Please, sit."

Xandros nodded and moved gracefully to the offered seat, lowering himself with the poise of a seasoned leader. He studied the room for a moment, his gaze lingering on the intricate carvings that adorned the walls and the serene aura that filled the space.

"I must ask, my lady," he began, his tone curious. "How were you able to set up such a beautiful place out here in the wild? It's... remarkable." he asked breaking the silence that lingered for a moment

Maze smiled faintly, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "I didn't build it," she admitted. "I found it when I first began my cultivation. It was abandoned, but the foundation was strong. I merely added a few touches here and there."

Xandros leaned back in his chair, his expression contemplative. "I see. This place bears traces of celestial energy—strong energy. It must have been used by lords from the heavenly realms. I imagine they came here often to cultivate."

His voice carried a hint of disdain as he mentioned the heavenly lords, and Maze couldn't help but notice. She tilted her head, curiosity sparking in her eyes. "Why do you say it like that, Lord Xandros? Is there something wrong with the heavenly lords?"

Xandros let out a soft scoff, a flicker of bitterness crossing his face. "Let's just say their motives are not always as pure as they appear. They seek power, my lady, and they will use any means necessary to attain it. Even places like this, sacred and untouched, are not safe from their ambitions."

Maze frowned, sensing a deeper story beneath his words. "Did something happen between you and the heavenly lords?"

Xandros hesitated, his gaze darkening. "That is a tale for another time. For now, I am more interested in why you called me."

His abrupt shift in focus startled her, but she quickly composed herself. Taking a deep breath, she met his gaze. "I want to know about my past. About my parents. Fifty years ago, you came here and spoke of things I didn't understand. You mentioned a prophecy, a destiny... and you called me 'Master.' Why? What do you know about me that I don't?"

Her voice trembled slightly, but her resolve was unshaken. She needed answers, and she wasn't going to let this opportunity slip away.

Xandros regarded her for a long moment, his expression unreadable. "You're asking for truths that may change everything you know about yourself, Mazikeen," he said finally. "Are you sure you're ready to hear them?"

Maze's heart pounded, but she nodded. "I've spent centuries living in the dark. If there's a truth about me, I want to know it—even if it's painful."

Xandros leaned forward, resting his forearms on his knees as he spoke. "Your parents..." he was cut short by a powerful strong force, he stood to his feet as the wind carried him but he managed to hold himself and turned around with his white garment flowing in the air

"What brings you here Lord Kairos?" He asked as he regained his composure. Maze was confused, whom was he referring to and what sort of strong energy was that? She thought standing to her feet in panic

"What you are about to do is going to make a new beginning Xandros" Kairos said his figure coming into lim light. he was a fine tall man with white hairs that ran to his back almost to his waistline and beards that ran down to his chest

"She needs to know Kairos, how long does she need to be kept in the dark?" Xandros asked

"Who are you?" Maze asked with panic in her eyes, she has never met this figure in her life but she could tell that this man was no ordinary man

"Forgive me for intruding Master!" Kairos apologized bowing slightly. Panic caught up in Mazikeen's throat that word again "Master!" What was going on? Why do they keep calling her that

"Xandros what is going on?" She asked "who is he?

"Permit me to introduce myself" Kairos said "I am Lord Kairos, ruler vampires ..."

"You are from the bloodstone tribe" Maze said quickly cutting him short as if she remembered something

"Yes" Kairos replied

"Since you are here, I believe you would assist Xandros to enlighten me on things I need to know regarding myself" Maze said "I want to know about myself and my parents"

"You don't know your parents?" Kairos asked casting Xandros a glance and Xandros shakes his head sideways

"No I don't and that's why I've called Xandros here to help me" Maze said walking towards Xandros "since he knows a lot about me, he will help and as for you Kairos, you are welcomed to help" Maze said walked past them and took her seat. Kairos knew at this point there was no stopping Maze, she has made up her mind to know the truth and there was no stopping her, this was bond to happen anyways, whether he stopped it or not she will find out someday, he looked at Xandros and nodded for him to carry on while he stood and watched

"Your parents were one of a kind" Xandros began "they were extraordinary beings. Your father Lucien was a god, one of the most revered in the heavenly realms. Your mother Morrigan was a demoness, she was powerful, feared, and respected in the demon realms. She was their ruler. Your both parents fell in love, their union was forbidden, their love considered an act of rebellion, so they kept their love a secret and got married, despite knowing the consequences" Xandros took a pause and continued "your parents were later discovered by the heavenly realms but it was too late your mother was already pregnant for you and your father was away for cultivation. Luckily he got the hint and came back in time, by then your mother was already tortured almost dead when your father arrived, he fought endlessly to protect your mother but she was thrown into the cell, where she gave birth to you with the help of mother Lina" Mazikeen's eyes grew in shock upon hearing the name

"How is it possible?" She stuttered "mother Lina has never mentioned anything about my parents"

"No doubt she wouldn't, your father was her best friend, she returned from war to behold the death of her best friend, the only thing she could do was save you" Kairos chipped in
