Freya's POV
The battlefield seemed to hold its breath as Kade advanced, his eyes gleaming with malice. My heart pounded, not from fear but from the weight of the moment. This wasn't just about defeating him it was about saving everything I held dear.
"You've come far, Freya," Kade said, his voice dripping with mockery. "But this ends now."
I stepped forward, gripping the artefact tightly. Its dark energy pulsed against my palm, trying to pull me into its abyss. "It ends when I say it does," I shot back, my voice steadier than I felt.
From the shadows, the traitor emerged. Their smirk sent a fresh wave of betrayal coursing through me. "You still don't get it, do you, Freya?" they said. "This isn't about Kade or the pack. It's about power. And you're too weak to wield it."
"Why?" I demanded, my voice cracking. "Why betray your family? Your pack?"
