Chapter 25 - conspiracy

Marcus looked at Darnell with a mocking smile on his face.

"WOW!!" "My little brother is going to join my band." Raising his hands theatrically, he mocked as he addressed his men. "Boys, take all your weapons, if we have to kill God, we will."

Hahahahaha!

Pfffff!

Hahahaha!

The laughter and mockery stabbed the weak dignity that remained in Darnell.

"Do you really think I'll kill someone just because you say so?" Marcus pointed at them as he stopped laughing. "Do you even know the strength of the person you think you can kill?" Who is their family? "Will anyone ask questions?"

Darnell gritted his teeth and replied.

"It's just an elemental lightning mage!" He's Susan's brother, and I'm completely sure that no one will miss him."

Marcus walked around a bit, somewhat intrigued.

"If you put it that way, it's not a big risk." He murmured as he pondered it.

"That's interesting!" spoke the man in the suit who had been silent until now. "An elemental mage with the lightning element is relatively rare and can be considered very talented."

Marcus raised an eyebrow and looked at the man with intrigue.

"Are you interested in him?"

"As merchandise." The man nodded. "Sometimes my clients love a bit of a challenge."

"How much are you willing to pay?" asked Marcus.

"It depends." The man stroked his chin with a smile. "Bring it here and I'll tell you how much I'll pay you for it."

"Mmmm." Marcus started to think.

"Hey, wait a moment!" Darnell got agitated. "I don't know what you plan to do with him." "But I want him dead!"

"Shut up!!" Marcus pointed at him, and one of his men grabbed him and silenced him with an arm around his neck.

Darnell struggled but no one cared, the man kept looking at Marcus with a smile.

After thinking about it for a while, Marcus signaled to his men and they left the place.

They dragged Darnell with them and shoved him into an old truck.

"Where does the kid live?" Marcus asked.

Darnell remained silent and looked at his brother with resentment.

"Do you think this is a game?" Marcus pulled out a gun and pointed it at his brother's face. "Or do you think that just because you're my brother, I won't do anything to you?"

Marcus shit his pants in fear when he saw the gun in his face. Only now did he remember that Marcus had been kicked out of his house after giving his own father a brutal beating.

Without any other option, Darnell gave him the address.

Marcus and his men arrived at Ben's house. One of them sneaked in and searched for his whereabouts but didn't find him.

"If he's not here, he'll arrive soon." Marcus was very patient and started smoking a cigarette.

They waited for a few hours before Ben's silhouette appeared in the distance.

Marcus didn't seem to mind waiting, but his men got very bored and started playing cards and telling jokes.

"That's him!" Darnell pointed with anger upon seeing him again, the person who had humiliated and insulted him for the past few hours.

Ben walked nonchalantly. It was past 6pm and darkness was creeping into the streets.

He was very cautious, looking around everywhere, but that was because he had more than 500,000 argens in his backpack. He didn't trust even a little to leave it in his house and even slept hugging the backpack.

I had to find a way to keep that money safe. But he was still not old enough to open a bank account.

Just two blocks from his house, he saw a black van parked at a corner. It was nothing special, but it still set off his alarms and he tightened his grip on his backpack.

Quickening his pace, Ben tried to leave the truck behind. But out of nowhere, it started, revved up, and got in his way.

The passenger window rolled down and a hand holding a gun pointed it at his face.

"Get in the truck." Marcus said as he moved the wardrobe towards the back door.

Yeah, right! As if he were an idiot.

Ben thought they were trying to rob him, so the moment the thug pointed a gun at his face, he quickly ducked and with his right hand struck Marcus's wrist.

This made him change direction, a moment Ben took advantage of to run to the back of the truck out of Marcus's sight and start running.

"What are you waiting for, idiots?" "Catch him!" Marcus shouted angrily and gestured to the driver. "Follow him!"

Marcus's men got out of the truck and split up in search of Ben.

Ben ran through the streets without a direction in mind.

"That's it!!"

Suddenly, the floor where Ben was leaning lifted and threw him off balance.

His body went forward with all the momentum he had and crashed into some garbage containers.

"Bastards!" Getting up from the ground, Ben spotted a rock on the floor.

He picked it up and, with anger, threw it at his pursuers, with the incredible luck of hitting one of them in the head.

A blunt object thrown with a force and speed three times greater than that of a normal person...They opened the head of the man who collapsed to the ground with a lot of blood coming out of it.

Ben didn't have time to see anything, after throwing the rock he kept running.

But he did see one thing.

[Evil points +10000]

"Jared!!" The son of a bitch hurt Jared!

"Kill him!!"

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Ben's eyes popped out of their sockets as he felt a burning pain in his right leg and couldn't step firmly.

"He fell!!"

"After him!!"

Ben gritted his teeth as he pressed his right leg. Panic and fear overwhelmed him, his eyes seemed to want to cry but he forced himself to get up and keep running.

Unfortunately, Marcus's men caught up with him first and knocked him down.

"Stay still!" said one of them as he pressed his face against the pavement.

Ben refused to give up and with all the strength he could muster, he threw a punch at the guy on top of him.

The guy fell, but another one lunged at him and, knife in hand, stabbed him in the stomach.

Ben suffered the greatest shock of his life. He looked down where the blood began to flow and then back at the black guy with the bandana above him.

A rage consumed him, and without caring for his own humanity, he pulled the dagger from his stomach and with it stabbed the man up to 8 times before being stopped by more men who lunged at him and restrained him.

One of them had some vials that he injected into his leg.

Slowly, Ben's consciousness began to fade, and the last thing he could see was the same black truck arriving and opening its doors.

There he saw him... Darnell.

A very big smile was on his face.
