Traits are inherited genetically through hereditary inheritance, but they can also manifest in individuals who are not directly related to your genetic lineage, but are distantly related. These unique traits emerge in children between the ages of four and five. During this time, they may inherit one of the traits from their parents, or in some cases, these traits may skip generations, awakening in their children or grandchildren.
When a trait skips a generation, it can result in unexpected manifestations, creating a connection between the past and present of members of the same family. This is due to the complexity of genetics, where combinations of genes can lie dormant until activated under specific conditions.
The emergence of this incredible new era resulted in a collapse of human society. As society adapted to this new scenario, great new powers began to emerge. The use of the traits of new humans came to be seen as an essential tool for social and political control. New governments and corporations began to exploit humanity's new experience with traits to monitor behavior, predict trends, and influence decisions.
However, this method of control also brought benefits to those with specialties, such as influence, high status in society, high profit value, security improvements, and advances in health and their own well-being.
Thus, particularities, which were previously just individual characteristics, became instruments of power and control in the new world order, while also providing significant advantages to those with superpowers. Specialties are considered the next stage in the evolution of the human race.
Although the cause of the phenomenon of the emergence of particularities remains unknown, it has been theorized that the spread of a virus, carried out through pioneering explorations into outer space in search of new resources or colonies for humanity, triggered their development. However, it was confirmed after 150 years that the awakening of particularities was due to the planets colonized by humans.
According to the most brilliant researchers, these worlds, with their unique atmospheres and ecosystems, genetically influenced the colonizers and their future generations when they came into contact with the spores of the planets that generated the powerful humans that gave rise to the phenomenon called ignitor. The specific conditions of each planet, such as the atmospheric composition and the elements present, stimulated the evolution of special characteristics in humans, leading to the emergence of particularities.
These transformations not only modified the genetics of the particularities, but also impacted their evolutionary strength and abilities, adapting them to the new environment. Thus, the colonization process not only altered the geography of space, but also caused a genetic revolution that shaped a new era for humanity.
Humans in other parts of the galaxy's colonies were born with initially normal bodies. The only thing they had was a fragile base layer, which facilitated the infiltration of spores into human cells, promoting human evolution. After awakening, the individual officially begins their journey of evolving their particularities.
The first step is called Basic, where elemental powers, such as fire or ice, begin to manifest, forming the main basis for bodily integration. The second step is Intermediate, where secondary abilities, such as rapid regeneration and super speed, awaken. The penultimate step is called Graduation, where the particularity reaches a high level of compatibility and power with the element. The final step is Elemental Master.
Currently, 70% of the human population is in outer space. Due to the significant natural advancement of humanity, previous generations, during the times of colonization and exploration, humans began to generate antibodies against the spores or better ignitor phenomenon, which prevented the awakening of their particularities, that is, they were born without any particular power.
Viktor was lucky to defeat the guards, as they were overconfident in their powers. Although they possessed impressive abilities, they were not compelled to undergo physical enhancements to their bodies due to the intense pain such procedures caused. This overconfidence was the gap that led to their decisive victory.
The guards were level 2, the area commander was level 3, and the soldiers were level 1. Accustomed to relying on their special abilities rather than their physical training and practical use of their powers, they underestimated Viktor, which led to his defeat.
With the emergence of a new race of humanity with special abilities during space colonization, many humans felt threatened, especially those who were not born with special abilities. Feeling inferior and fearful of losing their place in society, these individuals began a series of experiments to enhance their own bodies.
The quest for enhancement has led to significant technological advances, but these advances have been temporary. The modifications, while impressive, have presented unforeseen side effects and complex ethical challenges. Early in the human enhancement process, attempts on human bodies resulted in explosions because the bodies could not handle the enhancement in the early stages.
Unfortunately, Viktor was forced to become a guinea pig for his own family. The traumas of this experience still haunt his mind, leaving deep scars even in his dreams. His father, an ambitious man obsessed with creating the perfect soldier, wanted Viktor to be the ideal combination of a unique trait and physical enhancement, resulting in an invincible warrior. However, this insane quest for power and control caused his father to see Viktor not as a son, but as a fighting machine.
"Atlas, how is the ship's condition?" Viktor asked as he moved silently around the room.
'WARNING! WARNING! THE CAPTAIN HAS BEEN SEEN IN THE CONFRONTATION AGAINST THE SHIP'S MUTINY!! POSSIBILITY HE HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO ENGAGE IN FIGHTING WITH HIS FOLLOWERS' Atlas replied.
'ACCESSING FULL SHIP'S LOGS!!! THE CAPTAIN IS A WIND ELEMENTAL USER.!! HIS POWER LEVEL IS 7 STARS, WHILE THE INQUISITOR IS AT 6 STARS, WHICH PUT YOU AT A DISADVANTAGE...WARNING! I RECOMMEND A NEW GUARD!!'
Viktor frowned at this. He knew the difference in power could be decisive. 'What about the defense system?'
'THEY STILL HAVE IT UNDER THEIR CONTROL, BUT WE ALSO HAVE CONTROL OF THE DEFENSE SYSTEM,' Atlas informed him.
Viktor looked up at the ceiling, making a decision. "Activate the lethal weapons on board. Targets are the prisoners and the guards on the ship. Except for me, of course. And free the last two prisoners in red from their cells."
Atlas replied. 'ORDER RECEIVED. ACTIVATING LETHAL WEAPONS AND RELEASING REMAINING PRIVATE PRISONERS, CARNICERO AND KILLER FREED. COLLAR DEACTIVATED. MINIBOMB DEACTIVATED. WARNING: DEFENSE SYSTEM WILL REMAIN TEMPORARILY ALTERED.'
He also sensed that there was more than one strong person on the ship besides the captain, which increased the tension even more.
'It can't be that easy...'
Viktor's thoughts were abruptly interrupted by the ship's alerts about the release of the prisoners, Carnicero and Killer. The sound of alarms echoed through the corridors, followed by an immense noise coming from outside the cell where Viktor was. With no time to relax, he quickly changed out of Joe's borrowed clothes for his old prison uniform.
Viktor needed to act fast. He decided to take Castro hostage, a move that could give him an advantage in the chaos. With quick, precise movements, he tied the still-unconscious Castro with strips of torn sheeting and slung him over his shoulders.
Before leaving, Viktor paused for a moment, waiting. He knew the situation outside was about to become even more dangerous with the presence of Carnicero and Killer, both black prisoners known for their brutality and strength.
Suddenly, the sound of gunshots and screams filled the air. Viktor heard the sounds of an intense struggle, with bodies colliding and weapons firing.
"Come on, get them!" one of the guards shouted, his voice thick with desperation.
"Don't let them escape!" another guard shouted, followed by the sound of a gunshot.
"We're surrounded!" a prisoner shouted, his voice thick with panic.
Viktor took a deep breath. He knew he had to wait for the right moment to move. The sounds of battle continued, with screams of pain and orders being shouted from all sides.
"Atlas, keep me updated on the situation" Viktor whispered as he left the room.
'UNDERSTANDED' Atlas replied. 'THE FIGHT IS REACHING A CRITICAL LEVEL. THE INQUISITOR IS LEADING THE PRISONERS TOWARDS THE MAIN EXIT, BUT THE GUARDS ARE RESISTING FIERCELY.'
Viktor knew he had to act quickly. He adjusted Castro's position on his shoulders and prepared to leave the chambers, waiting for the right moment to move.
"Well, Castro, let's take a walk."
He waited patiently until the fighting in the hallway reached its peak. The sound of gunfire and screams echoed through the prison, creating a chaotic cacophony that masked his movements. He knew this was the perfect moment to act.
"It's a good thing you're a heavy sleeper." Viktor breathed deeply.
He approached the heavy metal door and inserted the access card he had obtained. With a soft hum, the door swung open, revealing the dark and bustling corridor. Viktor walked out of the cell with silent steps, staying in the shadows to avoid detection.
The corridor was in absolute chaos. Bodies of guards and prisoners were strewn across the floor. The smell of blood permeated the air, mingling with the odor of gunpowder and sweat.
The lights flickered intermittently, creating an even more disorienting and dangerous atmosphere. Viktor moved silently with calculated precision, avoiding as much as possible and staying in the shadows. He needed to be quick, but he also needed to be alert; he understood that haste could be his enemy.
As he turned the corner, he spotted a group of guards fighting desperately against the prisoners. The battle was fierce, with both sides fighting with brutal intensity. Viktor needed to avoid a direct confrontation if he was to leave the ship.
He entered a side corridor, out of sight of the combatants. The sounds of fighting faded as he walked away, replaced by the constant hum of the ship's ventilation systems. The walls were scarred with gunfire and explosions, evidence of the battle that had unfolded.
Finally, Viktor reached a metal door marked with the symbol for the exit to the barracks. He inserted his keycard once more, and the door creaked open.
"Thank you for staying, but I'm leaving now."
He continued walking, carrying Castro on his shoulder.
"He's really quite light." He took a deep breath and exhaled through his mouth, feeling the tension leave his body.
Despite the chaos around him, Viktor was calm and collected. He was certain that the real battle was yet to come.
"Atlas, where is the ship's power reactor?" Viktor asked, his voice low and controlled.
'ACCESSING SHIP MAPS... REACTOR LOCATION IDENTIFIED,' Atlas replied.
'THE MAIN REACTOR IS LOCATED ON THE LOWER LEVEL, NEAR THE STAND OF THE SHIP. YOU WILL NEED TO GO DOWN TWO LEVELS AND FOLLOW THE MAIN CORRIDOR TO THE END!!'
Viktor nodded, absorbing this information. The path to the reactor would be dangerous, but it was essential to his plan. With quick steps, he began moving toward the elevator that led to the lower levels, keeping an eye out for any sign of danger.
But his progress was stopped by security.
"Great, just what I needed."
