Chapter 21 - The UFO (Alex)

Alex spent the next few days at the ranch helping with chores, fishing, horseback riding, and practicing at the shooting range.

These simple activities gave him a chance to clear his mind and plan his next steps. By June 22, 2024, a week had passed since his return from the wizarding world, and he decided it was time to return to his villa in Malibu, California.

Early that morning, after breakfast, Alex bid farewell to Clyde and Helen, the ranch's caretakers.

Driving his Rezvani Tank X along the dusty roads, he soon reached a secluded spot hidden between two hills.

There, he stored his car in his ring, activated the Disillusionment Charm, and manipulated gravity to distort his figure.

Although the charm rendered him invisible to the naked eye, he further enhanced his stealth to avoid detection by infrared. Floating effortlessly, Alex began testing his abilities.

He accelerated gradually, surpassing Mach 1 and Mach 2 with ease, his body enduring the incredible forces without strain.

Growing more confident, Alex pushed himself faster until he approached the speed of light. Darting across the globe, he soared above cities and landmarks, briefly hovering over bustling urban centers to observe the world below.

Each moment of stillness gave him a glimpse of humanity's complexities, but he never lingered long enough than necessary.

Unbeknownst to Alex, his movements were not entirely unnoticed. Though invisible to both infrared and visual tracking, his presence registered on military radar systems.

Across the U.S., bases detected anomalous signals—an object moving at extraordinary speeds, appearing and vanishing without explanation.

Fighter jets were scrambled, but pilots found only empty skies. Suspecting system errors, technicians conducted diagnostics, yet the anomalies persisted.

Soon, the Pentagon was alerted, prompting high-priority meetings to address the mysterious intruder.

Military analysts were stunned by the object's capabilities. It hovered briefly over cities before accelerating to unprecedented speeds, often exceeding Mach 30.

In some cases, its speed hinted at near-light travel. Its unpredictable movements and complete invisibility baffled experts, leading to speculations about advanced technology, extraterrestrial origins, or experimental superweapons.

As reports surfaced globally, radar systems in Russia, China, and Europe tracked similar phenomena. The object's erratic path took it over major cities like Beijing, Moscow, London, and Paris.

Diplomatic channels buzzed as nations demanded answers, suspecting rival superpowers. Intelligence agencies worked tirelessly but found no leads.

Was this anomaly a breakthrough in spycraft, or evidence of extraterrestrial technology? The absence of answers only deepened the tension.

The growing number of radar anomalies inevitably led to leaks. News outlets began reporting on an "unidentified radar phenomenon" over multiple cities.

Although no visual evidence existed, the object's speed and behavior captured public interest.

"They detected me with radar, huh? Doesn't distorting the gravitational field deflect radar signals?" Alex muttered thoughtfully.

[It can, but your signature still shows up sporadically,] Lily replied.

"That's fine. Let them wonder. Some people are getting restless, stirring up conflicts everywhere."

[True. War is the game of the powerful, but it's the powerless who suffer,] Lily said.

Alex chuckled. "Maybe I should give them an imaginary enemy someday. The universe is vast, yet they confine themselves to this small planet, fighting over scraps."

[You're starting to sound like Dumbledore,] Lily teased.

Alex laughed. "Not a chance. I wouldn't sacrifice myself for a cause like he would."

Feeling bored, Alex teleported back to his villa in Malibu.

Meanwhile, social media erupted with speculation. Amateur enthusiasts scoured the skies for signs of the phenomenon, and conspiracy theories about extraterrestrials and secret government projects spread like wildfire.

Viral videos claimed to capture faint distortions in the sky, though most were debunked.

Mainstream media invited experts, theorists, and skeptics to debate the anomaly. While some speculated about revolutionary military technology, others insisted it was proof of alien life.

The lack of official explanations only heightened public anxiety.

Government agencies released statements downplaying the situation, assuring citizens there was no imminent threat.

However, their vague responses fueled suspicion. Lawmakers demanded transparency, accusing military officials of withholding information.

Public hearings were proposed, but high-ranking officials resisted, citing national security concerns.

Alex was aware of the global frenzy but couldn't care less. Seated on the terrace of his villa, he basked in the afterglow of the setting sun, gazing at the vast ocean stretching to the horizon.
