As Alaric moved closer, Emerald braced herself. She tried to calm her heart, which felt like it was about to leap out of her chest any second now.
She cleared her throat when Alaric finally stood in front of her.
"Mr. Corrigan, I'm glad you—"
Emerald couldn't finish what she was about to say because Alaric suddenly pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. He was strong and commanding, giving her no room to refuse.
Emerald gasped at his abrupt action. She was wearing high heels, yet she still felt small next to Alaric. Instinctively, she held onto his arm for fear of falling.
"Mr. Corrigan, wait…" she murmured, her hand unconsciously grabbing his tie, while the other gripped his shirt for balance.
Alaric didn't seem to care about the curious eyes watching them. He swiftly led Emerald out of the area as if he couldn't wait to have her all to himself.
