Amon's POV
Claudia was laid on the bed in the special room we had in our palace. Her legs were raised up, spread apart, and the physician and midwives had gathered around her.
"Amon, you have to leave," One of them said.
It was normal for me to leave. It wasn't an order.
But I was still standing, watching how she coped with the pain of childbirth. The veins on her face had become visible with each push she made as per the instruction from the physician. She was sweating, gnashing her teeth as though she was going to tear apart.
"Amon… You're not supposed to watch… Please leave."
"I will stay. I want to watch her."
I was going against the normal process, but that wasn't important to me. All I wanted to do was hold Claudia's hand as a way of sharing the pain she was going through. My presence could give her comfort, and no one was going to stop me.
