Leah's POV
The room went for another round of quietness, and my fingers were pressing against my palms, hard enough to let blood spurt out. But I felt no pain from it.
"Mum…" My teeth pressed tightly against each other increased my hesitation to speak. "Time and time again, I've tried to make you understand that I now have a mate."
She broke into laughter that slowly carried pain along with its sound. "And that's what you're all about?"
At this time, Raguel got on her feet, pacing up and down the room, and snapping her fingers after two to three steps. She had a frown on her face.
"She is waiting to hear you say something reasonable." Andrea pointed out. "But you intend to screw everything up by your so-called mate bond."
I knew nothing to say.
"Your mating with Gerald is flawed."
"No."
For that, I was ready to defend it with all I could.
