Outside, the air grew colder and felt heavier still, heavy with the lingering sense of the Abyss. The group forced their way forward through Solhaven's ruined streets, their own footsteps sounding like a loud whisper in their ears as they made their way from the rear. The glowing shard in Ryu's hand pulsed faintly, its light dipping low and bright in an uncomfortable cadence.
"We need to find somewhere safe," Kaelith said, her voice tight with exhaustion. She leaned heavily on her staff, her earlier burst of power draining her reserves.
"There's no safe place anymore," Draven grunted, his hand resting on the hilt of his massive blade. "Not while that thing's still drawing them to us." He gestured to the shard in Ryu's grasp.
Aris scanned their surroundings, her sharp eyes catching movement in the shadows. "We don't have time to stop. The shades are regrouping." She tightened her grip on her daggers.
