The trip to Solhaven started at dusk, under the weak light of a dying moon. The air was fresh, filled with the smell of wet earth and the last wisps of smoke that clung to the ravaged village. Villagers walked in silence, carrying bundles of hastily packed belongings. The group was heavy with tension, as if the Abyssal forces could fall upon them at any time.
Ryu walked at the head of the convoy, Voidfang sheathed but ever-present at his side. His eyes scanned the surrounding woods, muscles taut with vigilance. Kaelith flanked him, her staff in hand, its silver runes faintly glowing. Behind them, Draven and Aris kept close to the villagers, their presence reassuring to the weary group.
"Do you think they'll follow us?" Aris asked, her voice low but tinged with concern.
"They always do," Kaelith replied grimly. "But we'll be ready."
