Ryu stood by the window of the small inn room, watching as the town slowly stirred to life. The shard in his pocket felt heavier than ever, its faint pulsing in sync with his heartbeat. A knock at the door broke his thoughts. Kaelith's voice came through, calm but firm. "We're gathering downstairs. It's time."
Ryu grabbed Voidfang and slung it across his back before heading out. In the inn's common room, the group was already assembled. Kaelith and Aris were speaking in hushed tones over a hastily drawn map, while Draven sharpened his axe, the grinding sound filling the silence.
