Qin Zhuzhu felt foolish. How could she care for and love Xu Meng blindly for five years? She thought she could change his heart and show him that she was fit to be his wife. She perfected herself to the point that no one could find any fault with her. She was always prudent and careful in her actions, determined not to bring shame to the Xu family. She acted like his docile sweet and gentle wife because he said that he liked that type of girl. So he was actually referring to Bai Qianhua.
No wonder he never looked her in the eyes! Not even once! However, all her efforts fell on blind eyes as she was bullied countlessly by Xu Jing and Xu Lan, Xu Meng's sisters. Even Xu Meng's cousins liked to bully her and often badmouthed her!
Even her mother in law hated her and often berated her no matter what she did. Her mother in law made life difficult for her but she kept going with a smile. Her father in law ignored her but she noticed he looked at her with disdain. Ever since her family went bankrupt, everyone changed their views of her. She used to be treated like a queen even when she first married into the Xu family and everyone was eager to lick her boots.
Now, she was the laughingstock of the family. Money talks and makes the world go round, Qin Zhuzhu scoffed. Even her so-called friends left her. These people come to you when you have money but leave quickly when you are poor and broke.
They walked into the civil bureau and left afterwards, each holding the divorce certificate in their respective hands. Xu Meng's face showed no signs of regret or remorse while her heart was broken into pieces.
She turned to her ex husband, her pupils quivering.
"From now on, you can live your life freely and do whatever you want. Let's not bother each other's lives," Qin Zhuzhu's words were strong and decisive.
"Fine," Xu Meng agreed coldly. He looked at his ex wife and found something different about her today. What exactly it was, he didn't know.
From now on, she was no longer Mrs Xu, and she no longer needed to endure the humiliation she suffered at the Xu mansion. Xu Meng watched as Qin Zhuzhu turned away from him and walked off calmly. He expected her to beg him and cry but she didn't show much emotion. He couldn't help but scoff at her. Pretentious woman!
The sound of a car's engine filled the air. Bai Qianhua came to pick Xu Meng up. She arrived in a luxurious Bentley. Come to think of it, Xu Meng had never gifted Qin Zhuzhu anything precious.
"Honey, what are you doing here?" Xu Meng asked his lover sweetly. His voice was filled with love and concern that he never showed for Qin Zhuzhu.
"I'm here to pick you up, brother Xu," she said coquettishly. She called his name affectionately and loudly so that Qin Zhuzhu could hear.
"You don't have to pick me up. Your body is weak.. Don't strain yourself, Qianhua," he took her hands and rubbed them together to keep them warm. Her hands felt cold. He wanted to make sure her jade-like hands don't freeze from the chilly weather. Their actions were so affectionate and lovey dovey.
"Yes, brother Xu. I was so worried about you! What happens if something goes wrong? I can't live without you!" Bai Qianhua cried and hugged Xu Meng. Xu Meng pulled her into a tight embrace.
"Nothing will happen to me as long as you're by my side. I won't let anything happen to you. Qianhua, you have suffered a lot. From now on, I won't let you suffer anymore!" He started loudly. He gently stroked her hair to comfort her.
From the corner of her eyes, Bai Qianhua glanced at Qin Zhuzhu's receding figure and smirked.
Their sweet words were so loud and full of affection that Qin Zhuzhu could hear it clearly. Tears stung her eyes but she refused to shed a single tear for that worthless jerk husband of hers. Not worth it!
It was a good thing she had a job or else she would really have to live by the roadside, unable to support herself and her mother.
The Xu family often criticized her for having a job yet they also criticized her when she had no job! How hypocritical of them!
Her mother didn't want to live together with Zhuzhu because she didn't want to bother her daughter. She refused to be the third wheel and wanted to use her hands to make her own money.
Zhuzhu sighed and went back to the Xu mansion to pack her things and leave. Since they were divorced already, there was nothing pulling her back. She didn't feel reluctant at all. As she was making her way down the stairs, Xu Meng's sisters spotted her.
They eyed her with disdain and contempt. Xu Jing snorted and crossed her arms. They sauntered over her with a haughty look.
"Looks like my brother has finally made a good move. Divorcing this poor heiress who looks no different than a country bumpkin, ha ha ha!" Xu Jing and Xu Lan laughed.
Qin Zhuzhu ignored them and walked past them instead.
"Hey! I'm talking to you! Are you deaf or mute!?" Xu Jing was offended just because Zhuzhu ignored her.
"I think the divorce must have made her silly! She doesn't deserve to be called a heiress! In Shengjing, only the powerful and wealthy will stand over the poor and dominate the world," Xu Lan supported her sister and mocked Zhuzhu.
Zhuzhu ignored them and was about to make her way out of the door when Xu Jing suddenly latched onto her arm. Zhuzhu's eyes widened.
"Do you think you can leave with our Xu family's items? You're not allowed to take that luggage in your hands out of here!" Xu Jing sneered.
"What did you say?" Zhuzhu turned around to meet the Xu sisters, her eyes cold and icy.
