However local governments have made organizations called "Guilds" where people can post jobs they want completed for them in exchange for money or certain rewards by these "adventurers" who are considered legal mercenaries by there kingdoms government. Adventurers are given ranks that make keeping track of them easier and to get promoted the guild determines the adventurers are ranked by there strength skill experience and how many jobs they have completed.

Categories of magic:

Magic falls into four categories.

Physical magic which allows the user to control physical materials and beings to there advantage with mana the internal life energy of all living beings use to use magic. For example water or fire magic would fall into the physical magic category.

Conceptual magic that allows the user to control concepts instead of physical materials such as time gravity space and even creation and destruction would be considered conceptual magic.

Hybrid magic where anything that doesn't directly fall into the other two categories falls into. The requirements to be considered hybrid magic is a lot more broad then the other two categories. For example a charm that let's the user shoot balls of explosive power at someone wouldn't be considered a fire spell even if the resulting explosion creates fire. The same goes for curses rituals and enchantments they could have similar results to the other two categories but the process is different.

And there's enhancement magic where any magic used to enhance items with magical attributes either weapons or your own body are considered "Enhancement" magic. Enchantments are forms of magic where the user infuses items with mana either from spells or magic crystals permanently enhancing those items with those attributes. Runes are ancient words of magic that grants certain effects or enhancements when marked onto items and when infused with mana the runes effects are activated. And unlike enchantments that are permanently activated runes could be activated or deactivated depending on whether or not mana is being infused into the rune or not.

For example a glove that has the rune that says "Stick" marked on the palm of the gloves and the runes are activated then the gloves will let the user stick to surfaces. And if a sword has the rune "Endurance" marked on it then the swords endurance will be increased when the rune is activated. Runes could be marked on essentially anything so a baton that has a rune that says "Cut" marked on the club part then the edge of the baton would become sharp when the rune is activated.

Technically the effects of a rune could be stacked but if you mark the same rune on the same item it will cost more mana and be more difficult to control each individual rune at the same time. As a result most people can only put one or two of the same rune on the same item.
