Chapter 35 - The Declaration

With the false emperor now dead, and the palace firmly under his control, Millions of Gen'Dai warriors who were released from the Corruption which clouded their minds, began surrendering to the soldiers under Daimon's command. The news that the false emperor is dead was broadcast across all battlefields, allowing those who were hesitant at first to finally lay down their arms.

However, there were still those who fully believed in Kaelor, resulting in massive amounts of in fighting and thousands of Gen'Dai being killed for even wanting to surrender. Because of this, Daimon ordered his Generals to speed up the process, to minimize the casualties.

After a week had passed nearly half the world had been brought under his control. Out of the 400 million Gen'Dai on Veldari, there was an estimated count of nearly 60 million people either civilians, or warriors who had been killed because of the conflict.

Most of the civilian casualties were from the former loyalist generals of Kaelor whom Daimon has labeled as criminal warlords. These warlords consolidated their forces, hid in underground bases, and within civilian areas to continue the fight.

This would normally be a problem as one wouldn't be able to separate which Gen'Dai was loyalists, and which ones were just regular civilians. But Daimon, the progenitors, and a few Force Scions could sense their ill intent using the Force. Thus, they could target the hidden enemy without harming innocent bystanders. 10 Task forces were created to find these loyalists within the cities they controlled and arrest them.

The war was projected to go on for another 2 weeks before all threats were dealt with. The millions who surrendered were going through a process where their minds would be checked to make sure that they were not deceiving anyone. Once they were confirmed to actually be regretful of their actions, each person was given an identification card and was assigned to perform labor and all sorts of other tasks around the planet.

It was tradition that the Gen'Dai will naturally follow those who are strong. And not only was Daimon extremely strong, but he was also a Gen'Dai himself and the first Gen'Dai to have developed the ability to use the Force.

This is where he and Cortana got to work with building a religion with him as the God of that religion. It would take decades for all to truly embrace such a change, which is why they started laying down the foundation of the religion. Those who looked to be the most vulnerable were used by Daimon to promote the religion.

In the beginning he started to visit those who were very ill, on the verge of death, or those who thought they had no purpose in life. Daimon used his abilities to heal them or show them a glimpse of what the future would look like, giving them something to work towards.

Word began to spread of the miracles performed by Daimon, and before long, people were lining up in droves to visit the Cathedral that had been established within Capital city that Cortana has named Aeteris meaning 'City of the Eternal.'

The Cathedral was still under construction as it used to be a massive fortress built next to the Palace to house reinforcements in case something happened. But since the city was cleansed of enemy soldiers, the building was empty, so Daimon decided to turn it into a Cathedral.

Daimon spent several hours of his days providing what the people considered to be miracles. Of course he didn't provide everybody with a personal miracle. Some of the most prominent healers from the Order of the Balance Keepers, which numbered 200, were used as well to provide miracles which included healing and providing visions of the future.

The visions that people were showed, were not fabricated dreams of a non-existence reality. It was a short glimpse of what the future would look like and how much people's lives will improve.

The visions of the future brought hope to many who were on the verge of despair. The intended purpose of these visions was to begin to plant the seeds for understanding and benevolence. Absolute control through fear wouldn't ensure stability and peace in the long run.

Hence, his objective of creating a religion around him wasn't just to make him all powerful, but to provide a novel belief system and moral code that would guide people.

He continued doing this for the next 2 weeks, while also doing some other visits to the newly conquered lands that they brought under his control. Most of his time was spent traveling all over the planet promoting the religion and laying down the foundations for something that will benefit everybody now and in the future.

At the same time, the very last warlord was captured and brought to Aeteris alongside the other warlords they were able to capture. These warlords would personally be dealt with by Daimon, and their Force absorbed to be put to good use.

The army had successfully conquered 100% of the world and now Daimon had full control over the planet and its people. From the original 60 million, now there was a confirmed number of nearly 90 million people were killed in the conflict. 60 million were warriors serving under Kaelor and his Commanders, while the remaining 30 million were civilian casualties.

Unfortunately, the civilian casualties were unavoidable, but their death would ultimately lay the foundation down for a better future.

In the middle of Aeteris, a large stage was set up with 2 million people gathered, filling up the streets of the city for miles to see. Videos were broadcast via holographic projectors throughout the city, allowing every single person to see what was going on.

The same scene occurred around the planet, from the most populated to the least populated, Daimon wanted all to see his announcement. On the stage, 20 of the last remaining warlords were placed on the stage, kneeling on the ground and restrained by cuffs.

As Daimon walked on the stage, the people grew quiet and watched as he took his position standing before the large crowd of people. "Many of you may already know me, many of you may not know me, so let me introduce myself," began Daimon. "My name is Daimon, a Gen'Dai much like all of you. However, I am no normal Gen'Dai for I have learned the ways of the Force which is a great power that guides all those in the galaxy.

By harnessing this power, I…" Daimon went on to explain just how powerful he was and how he reached the point where he was at right now, with a few altercations to the story by not mentioning a few critical things such as how he was from another universe.

Once he was done speaking, he walked up to the first warlord and placed his hand on his head. "Now I will demonstrate one of the millions of ways that the Force can be used. Starting with these warlords who followed Kaelor and helped him in murdering tens of millions of people decades ago and for their continued resistance after he was killed by me."

With his hand on the first warlord's head, he began to absorb his life force for all to see. The warlord's body was quickly drained of all its life force leaving nothing but a withered husk. The crowd remained silent as they watched the display of power on the large holoprojections around them.

The remaining warlords turned pale as the life left their comrade. They tried to struggle and break the restraints somehow as they would much rather fight than feel their life be slowly absorbed. But it was no use, they were not only restrained with cuffs, but a few Guardians were using the Force to hold them still.

One by one, Daimon walked across the stage, repeating this process for each warlord. As each soul was absorbed, he could feel his own strength increase by the smallest margin. It was not enough to cause a significant difference, but it was still something.

As he finished absorbing the last warlord's life force, he turned towards the crowd, "This is the punishment for those who followed Kaelor and continue to do so even after the corruption was removed." His voice echoed across the vast crowd.

"However, for those who saw the error of their ways and gave up, I commend them. They didn't become so consumed by the Dark power clouding their mind, and they peacefully surrendered which is why I did not kill them. Such people do not deserve death, but a second chance at righting a wrong. However, they will be punished, so for the next 500 years, these people will be subject to hard labor and service. They will rebuild the cities they aided in destroying; they will tend the grounds they once soaked with innocent blood. They will serve the people they once sought to oppress."

A murmur swept through the crowd at this pronouncement. There was satisfaction in seeing the guilty made to atone for their crimes; but also seeing mercy granted to those who surrendered after being freed from Kaelor's control. It wasn't hard for most Gen'Dai to understand who deserved mercy and who didn't.

In fact, most saw this as a fair judgment from Daimon and their opinion of him grew.

"To prevent such atrocities from happening again," Daimon continued, "I have put into place a code of conduct, a set of laws if you may, that will guide all beings on this world and any future worlds we may inhabit."

He began to lay out his vision of a world guided by law and order, a world where no starved or lived in fear. A society where the people were guided towards a righteous path. He also emphasized personal responsibility and community action as vital pillars of this new society.

"We are now one under this common purpose; to foster a harmonious existence for all, whether it be through war, or peace, we strive towards betterment. So, with my last words, I hereby declare that on this day, the Veldari Imperium will be born from this day, and I as the emperor will ensure that this Imperium will exist for thousands of years starting from this day." With his final words, two Raptor fighters flew overhead with the colors of the new Veldari Imperium trailing behind them.

The people began to cheer loudly as there was an immense energy that traveled throughout the crowd, a sense of new beginnings that flowed throughout the crowd. Even those who had been skeptical or uncertain were now swept up in this current of hope and expectation. Slowly but surely, the adoration for Daimon was increasing, and would continue to over the next few years.

He then began to walk through the crowd to do a little crowd work in order to show the people that he may be all powerful, but he was also caring and compassionate towards them who had suffered for so long.

Daimon stretched out his senses, using his extraordinary abilities to touch the minds of those around him. He felt their hopes and fears, their dreams and desires. He was becoming a beacon of hope for them.

People reached out to touch him as he passed, a physical act of connection that seemed to renew their hope in a better future. They whispered words of gratitude, of admiration, even of love. Daimon smiled, nodded, occasionally pausing to speak directly to an individual or small group.

In just 3 weeks, he had become more popular than Kaelor ever was. After hours of spending time with the people, he returned to the palace which was being reconstructed to officially began to set up positions, appoint the people whom he already raised when they were young to key positions where they would strive.
