"A long time ago, there were ancient beings called Gemaris. They had powers that were able to match that of an Arch God!"
Arch Gods were beings created at the beginning of all life, they're still believed to exist to this day. There were many stories about their accomplishments, from first creating the dimensions and living beings.
Iris' eyes lit up as she started the tale. "Wow, so cool!"
"Yes! They were the siblings of a great Divine Deity. There were twelve elite Gemaris that each held different types of powers to control universes. They were…"
She began singing a familiar folk song, halfway between a nursery rhyme and a religious chant. Her black eyes misted over slightly as she sang. Iris sat listening, mesmerized by the enchanting, slow rhythm, which her mother sang like the tinkling of a piano.
"~♪The shimmering gems of power and destiny were named, each with their unique strength and grace. The White Gemaris of Light and Peace, a delicate beauty adorned in ivory, whose presence illuminated even the darkest of places, radiating a sense of serenity and calmness that could disarm even the most ferocious of beasts.
The Yellow Gemaris of Lightning, with mad eyes that glow like candles in the dark, and the strength to rally the righteous with a single flash of indignation.
The Red Gemaris of Wrath and Fire, whose fury was as intense as his blazing skin, his power unmatched by any other. His wildness could never be contained, and his wrath was feared by even his siblings.
The Blue Gemaris of Sadness and Seas, his voice was like a siren's call, haunting and mournful, evoking feelings of loss and despair. His eyes, however, were playful and serene, like the depths of the oceans he controlled. ~♪
The Orange Gemaris of Flames and Passion, whose surface burns hotter than even her brother red, whose face is like the sunset;
The Violet Gemaris of Glory, whose royal shade shone like a beacon of hope amidst the darkness of war. His voice was commanding and authoritative, inspiring loyalty and courage in all those who fought by his side. ~♪
The Gray Gemaris of Revolution and Knowledge, whose eyes look indifferent at great cities falling, his eyes held a depth of wisdom and understanding beyond human comprehension. His calmness was born of the knowledge that he had seen the rise and fall of countless civilizations before; ~♪
The Green Gemaris of Nature,
whose movements were wild and free, like the dance of the elements in the natural world. Her voice was innocent and pure, like the sound of bubbling spring water, evoking feelings of warmth and tranquility;
The Pink Gemaris of Purity and Protection,
whose iridescent shell has endured a thousand ravaging storms, and whose heart remains steadfast in times of dire need. She is a guardian, an ever-watchful sentinel, her presence a soothing balm in the face of danger; ~♪
and lastly the Purple Gemaris of Creation,
whose brilliance radiates both light and darkness, the power to change anything. Her touch is the breath of life, able to coax blooms from barren lands and conjure beauty from chaos. She is the very embodiment of life which she blows into empty spaces to animate the universe, both divine and fearsome."
Iris gazed up at her mother in awe, her mind racing with the information she had just absorbed. She sat cross-legged on the ground, her eyes fixated on Queen Avery who grinned and continued but didn't sing this time.
"There were also lesser Gemaris, and even evil goddesses, like the Black Gemaris of chaos and calamity. But chaos must be balanced. There was another Gemaris, the Golden Gemaris of order and balance that presided over all the elements, ensuring that the Laws of the Gods were upheld and the different dimensions remained in harmony.
These beings upheld the very bedrock of Creation, watching over the endless Dimensions that housed countless lesser gods. Each Gemaris, in turn, ruled over their own divine realm, ensuring the obedience to the unbreakable Laws of the Arch god.
Despite them working together, the Gemaris even though they were siblings, barely saw eye to eye. Petty squabbles and rivalries plagued their ranks, fueling the flames of dimensional strife.
The White Gemaris of Light was a beautiful Gemaris Goddess, having lovely long white eyelashes, long crystal white hair, white skin, a slim posture, lovely small lips and wintry white eyes. Her most prominent feature was a Gemaris crest in her pupils, she'd often be seen wearing an evening gown.
The White Gemaris was renowned for her intelligence and wisdom, a being of great power who dutifully fulfilled her responsibilities. But for all her admirable qualities, she possessed a dangerous flaw: a tendency to look down on those she deemed inferior. Even amongst the Gemaris, flaws were present.
Despite her talents, this very flaw led to her being passed over for the position of leader, a role entrusted by The Great Arch god to govern all the Gemaris, lesser gods, and other beings. Instead, the honor went to her sister, the Purple Gemaris, who inherited the title of Divine Ruler.
Envy consumed the White Gemaris, as she saw her sister ascend to the position that she felt was rightfully hers.
The White Gemaris became jealous of her sister, the Purple Gemaris, who received all she thought was rightfully hers. Any questions so far?"
Iris grinned eagerly. "No, no, please finish. But maybe just address them by their colors now? I want to know what's happening, tell it quickly!"
"Very well. So, Purple was a lovely young girl with purple sparkly eyes that you would lose yourself in when you looked into them for too long. She had long eyelashes, beautiful long curly hair, lovely brown skin and a dignified air about her, one that gave her the aura of a wise and kind Queen.
Unlike her sister, the White Gemaris, who only ever looked out for the Gemaris, Purple made decisions that would benefit all the beings of the realm. Her wisdom and kindness earned her the love and admiration of everyone.
Everyone praised Purple for every little thing she did and all grew to love her.
But envy festered in White's heart like a poison, eating away at her until it consumed her completely. She could not stand the adoration that her sister received, nor the fact that Purple had been chosen to lead over her. White's hatred for her sister grew more intense each day until it became an inferno that threatened to consume them both.
Despite all the tasks and duties that White completed by herself, she felt useless. White had always been driven by a deep sense duty, but it was never enough. She felt unappreciated, unseen, and her accomplishments were always overshadowed by her sister's.
"Purple was just an insignificant and dumb brat who does nothing. I'm the one actually doing something. I have helped worlds." As she lay in bed at night, White's mind would race with bitter thoughts of her sister's supposed incompetence. "Why does everyone adore her?" she seethed. "She's nothing but a foolish child. I am the true Gemaris of light. I am the one who should be revered! Why her and not me? I should be the one they all love! I hate her, I hate her for being better than me. I hate her for being the Leader of all the gods. I wanted that position. I worked harder than her for that position. They should have chosen me! …I'll never forgive her for what she has done. I'll make her regret stealing what was mine!" She vowed to herself she would do everything in her power to dethrone her sister goddess.
This hatred grew deep inside White's heart. She couldn't believe that after all she had done for the Gemaris, that was how they'd repay her. By giving the position that all knew she wanted more than anything to someone else; and to her sister of all people too!
'Why to her? A fool like her!'
The reason why White believed Purple was a fool was because she would occasionally look down from the Heavens to watch the Worlds below.
White's wrath boiled over as she watched, observing the lesser beings and gods as they brazenly defied the laws of the gods. They ridiculed the Gemaris, belittling them for their perceived foolishness and lack of control. But when they were in need, they had no shame about seeking out their divine powers for their own selfish purposes.
They only sought out things like money, power, and healing when there were no resources like water or food.
It started with minor deeds being granted, but eventually their greed led to bigger and more ridiculous requests.
There was even a day when a strange human asked the Purple Gemaris for immortality and it was granted to him without question.
White was furious with Purple's continual foolish "acts of kindness" and couldn't take it anymore.
Her hatred grew and grew.
But she wasn't aggressive yet, and didn't confront Purple about it! As the Gemaris of Peace, she was unable to kill the Gemaris because of her affinity for PEACE.
Gemaris had the ability to share their affinity, but Purple never showed them how to use her powers, because if Creation fell in the wrong hands it could lead to disaster.
White found herself getting filled with greed, but had no idea what to do.
These thoughts stewed for a while, and became more vivid. Soon, she wanted power, and she wanted to be above all of them. She didn't understand why her sister was chosen to rule over them.
She was at war with herself, her true nature pitted against her duties as the Gemaris of peace. Which side would win?"
Iris smiled confidently, despite the darkness of the story. "I think they'll all end up happy, and she'll become peaceful again! These Gemaris sound so beautiful, how could anything go wrong?"
"So you want to hear the next part of the story?"
"Yes! Yes!" Iris said and her mother continued with the story.
