Chapter -60.

At this moment, the Ministry of Magic was thick with the smell of gunpowder, and crumbling buildings were strewn about the area.

Tragically, numerous corpses lay on the ground, their faces frozen in terror, revealing the fear they experienced. It truly felt like a hell on earth, with many bodies and rivers of blood. This might sound like an exaggeration, but there were indeed hundreds of corpses scattered about.

Countless pure-blood officials hadn't survived to see Bernard make his move, losing their lives in the earlier battles, their bodies severely charred by the raging flames. Minister Smith glanced at the devastation before him and swallowed nervously.

"Finally took down that nuisance, Bernard," Lester said, looking at the remains of Bernard, reduced to ashes, letting out a deep sigh.

He hadn't anticipated that this Bernard would be so tough to defeat, persistently launching surprise attacks. Had it not been for his protective system and the potency of the second spell, he might have found himself in a dire situation today.

Lester wanted to express his frustration but decided against it, maintaining a stoic expression as countless shocked, awed, and fearful eyes focused on him in the Ministry's hall. Everyone understood one crucial fact: a new power had emerged in the wizarding world…

With the crowd watching closely, Lester perched on a fearsome fire dragon, the desolation behind him and the massive trench carved by the blazing giant blade emphasizing his impressive presence, almost like a royal among commoners.

Nearby, a prisoner from Azkaban couldn't handle the pressure and fell to his knees. It was as if a switch had flipped — the other prisoners, including the notably strong Arlis, dared not stand, all kneeling in submission.

As they gazed at the being who had just caused chaos in the Ministry and defeated Auror Head Bernard, the remaining officials and pure-bloods felt faint.

"Principal Dumbledore, please show up soon," Minister Smith thought, eyeing Lester, who appeared almost divine, with an emotionless expression fixed on them. He fervently wished for Dumbledore's presence. Previously, he had resented Dumbledore for his immense power and influence, fearing it would overshadow his own authority. Now, he realized the Ministry desperately required a top wizard to take control; if only he could hold on!

It wasn't just Smith who felt overwhelmed; the other pure-blood officials were equally distressed as they watched Lester on the dragon. Without their colleagues around, they might have dropped to their knees alongside the prisoners.

At this moment, they had never been more eager for Dumbledore to appear. The power struggles they once cared about seemed trivial compared to their lives, and power was no longer a priority.

As the Ministry officials wore looks of despair and braced for judgment, Ludo Bagman, also kneeling among the prisoners, wished he could just bury his head in the ground, too afraid to glance up at the imposing figure of Lester. He had initially planned to jump in and attack the prisoners from behind after Bernard took down Lester, hoping to become a war hero.

Unexpectedly, Bernard was the one who perished, and Ludo now found himself in a precarious position. Should he reveal his identity and face his colleagues' fate, or stay hidden in the crowd?

As Ludo deliberated his next move, Lester was also on the lookout, conscious that he couldn't predict when Dumbledore would arrive. While he was currently making quite an impression at the Ministry with the prisoners, it relied heavily on his unbeatable flames. If faced with Dumbledore now, he might be subdued before he even got a chance to react. Dumbledore's title as the first white wizard wasn't just self-proclaimed; it was earned through countless magical feats.

"Drop your wands!" Lester commanded, looking down at the Aurors and pure-blood officials below. At the same time, hundreds of fireballs hovered beside him, ready to be unleashed at a moment's notice.

The Aurors stood speechless.

Surveying the Ministry, now engulfed in flames, they couldn't help but glance at Lester, who wore a fierce look perched atop the dragon. Without hesitation, they surrendered their wands.

The pure-blood officials? They had already discarded their wands when Lester first mounted the dragon and defeated Bernard, clearly showing they had no intention of putting up a fight.

Everyone except for the prisoners brought forth by Lester looked anxiously at him, trembling in fear.

However, not everyone was intimidated; nestled among the crowd, a striking man with platinum blonde hair timidly observed, his eyes flickering with excitement.

"A new generation of Dark Lord," Lucius mused as he looked up at Lester, who seemed godlike, his gaze shifting nervously.

Unlike the terrified pure-blood officials anxious that Arlis might unleash the dragon upon them, Lucius wasn't afraid of being harmed.

With Arlis's current strength, he believed he could stand against Dumbledore if things went the right way.

Ten years prior, he had placed his bets on Voldemort, convinced he would successfully control the magical world, enabling him and the older pure-bloods to reclaim their dominance.

Even when Voldemort grew powerful and took command, Lucius and his aristocratic friends remained unfazed.

A century-old dynasty, a millennium-old lineage.

Even if Voldemort succeeded in seizing power and used it to turn the old pure-blood families into his underlings, so what? Would Voldemort leave an heir to carry on his legacy?

No!

But these pure-blood families could endure a bit of humiliation in their generation under Voldemort's reign, and once he was gone, would the world not return to them?

Unfortunately, despite the hopes of numerous old pure-blood nobles resting on him, Voldemort ultimately met his end at the hands of the infant Harry Potter.

This led to repercussions for their supporters, but nonetheless, the old pure-bloods would not relent. As long as there was a chance to reclaim control of the magical world, they would seize it.

Now, this emergent Dark Lord seemed like a worthwhile opportunity to invest in!
