Chapter 21 - chapter -21 Killing a dementor.

Chapter -21.

The magical flames blazed with an intensity that was truly chilling.

In a split second, the fierce blue fire struck the Dementor, wrapping around its entire form in a flash of blinding light.

Typically, a creature like a Dementor, being a soul entity, could only be harmed by the spell like "Expecto Patronum". However...

Lester's flames were exceptionally powerful; they not only consumed physical objects but also had the ability to erode even untouchable souls.

Using the Dementor's form as fuel, the fire intensified, growing hotter and more voracious.

Even from afar, Lester could feel the air around him warming up slightly.

"Whooo!!"

This was the second time Lester had heard the haunting cry of a Dementor.

The first time was shortly after his arrival in prison when he had struck a Dementor with a pillow, provoking its ire, which resulted in a whimper.

This time, though the cry was similarly a whimper, it was completely different.

It was a cry filled with deep pain, and if one listened closely, they could detect the frightful wails of the Dementor.

This creature was genuinely afraid of the flames!

Despite the tragic echoes of the Dementor's cries, Lester remained unaffected.

"Since you relish the pain and fear of others, you should experience it yourself."

Additionally, considering that this monster thrived on the lives of humans—who knows how many it had devoured in its existence—burning it alive felt merciful in comparison.

As the Dementor's sorrowful wails echoed through the cave, a smell of burning slowly permeated the air.

When Lester moved closer, he saw that the once-feared Dementor was entirely incinerated upon contact with the fire.

Unlike other flames that leave behind dark ashes, Lester's Protego Diablocia left nothing behind.

It was non-toxic, harmless, and pollution-free, requiring merely a flicker of flame to swiftly end its opponent—truly an environmentally-friendly fire!

"Impressive!"

With a gentle wave of his hand, the blue flame that had just consumed the Dementor transformed into a small blue fireball, which floated into his palm.

At that moment, he heard the sweet prompt of the system chime in his ears once more.

"Ding! Using Protego Diablocia, you defeated a Dementor; proficiency increased by 1."

[Dark Lord System]

[Host: Lester Bailey]

[Magic Power: 10 (100 for adult wizards)]

[Mastered Spells: God-level Invisibility (max level, cannot be upgraded)

Wall Passing Spell (basic spell, cannot be upgraded)

Transfiguration (from Boggart, cannot be upgraded)

Protego Diablocia Level 1 (1/100)]

[Task: Angry Prisoner]

[Lottery: 0 times (500,000 fear points/time)]

"It seems like each life I take with this spell will boost my proficiency a little?"

Lester's eyes sparkled with excitement. To test his theory, he sent the blue fire blazing from his palm once more.

Soon, illuminated by the fiery glow, a small black bug appeared before him.

Perhaps affected by its surroundings, the bug looked particularly grotesque, like an oversized, revolting dung beetle.

Lester carefully directed his flames toward the bug.

In an instant, the fluttering fire enveloped the entire bug, reaching it almost immediately.

Within a fraction of a second, the poor little bug was completely engulfed, turning to carbon dioxide in the air.

"So, burning a bug doesn't seem to help?"

After the bug was incinerated by his flames, Lester waited patiently but received no notification regarding an increase in skill proficiency.

It appeared that, barring any surprises, his Protego Diablocia would only level up through the defeat of somewhat intelligent creatures like Dementors.

With this realization, a cold gleam appeared in Lester's eyes.

Don't get the wrong idea; he had no intention of wreaking havoc in the Muggle world. Hurting innocent people just to flaunt his power was an idea he couldn't tolerate, even under the direct circumstances!

Of course, if someone truly wanted to harm him, that might change, but for now, he wasn't at that point.

His targets were definitely not innocent Muggles. There was already a group of corrupt officials at the Ministry of Magic, comfortably exploiting their power over other wizards. Lester didn't need to seek out further victims.

Determined to take action, Lester didn't hesitate at all. He pulled back the blue flames still circulating in the air and activated his invisible state.

He was about to sneak into the Auror station at Azkaban to steal something—a magical item that could teleport individuals directly from Azkaban to the Ministry of Magic.

"Portkey!!!"

Exiting the cave, Lester smoothly passed one Dementor after another, gradually making his way toward the outskirts of Azkaban Island.

Due to the overwhelming number of Dementors in the vicinity, anyone who lingered in this place for too long would inevitably be affected by their presence.

As such, the Ministry of Magic typically positioned Aurors on the outer edges of the island to avoid encounters with Dementors, preserving their will to live and happiness.

Following the mental map in his mind, Lester, still cloaked in invisibility, continued his eastward journey.

He knew that where he had arrived by boat, there was an Auror station established around that landing area.

If all went well, this would be the gathering place for the Aurors overseeing Azkaban.

...

Sure enough, after a few more minutes of walking, Lester finally spotted a building in the distance.

A large white structure that, at first glance, bore a resemblance to Buckingham Palace from the Muggle world.

Of course, it was only similar to a landmark building like Buckingham Palace; after all, there were only a handful of Aurors stationed there, so it certainly wasn't as grand as the actual palace.

However, as he got closer, Lester realized that while it wasn't as sprawling as Buckingham Palace, it was still quite sizable.

A rough estimate showed it could cover around 500 square meters and was at least 50 meters tall.

Peeking through the glass window at the entrance, Lester cautiously surveyed the interior of the office building.

To his surprise, he found that at that moment, only two Aurors were standing at the front door of the lobby on the first floor, while the rest were nowhere in sight.

And as luck would have it, just as Lester was observing, two figures started to descend the stairs above, coming into his view.
