Inside of a dilapidated building, the moans and groans of the monsters outside can be heard. They were known as zombies due to their similar appearance to the ones presented in comics and movies though these ones were real. They have started appearing due to an unknown virus that spread. The astronauts have just came back from outer space that day. We thought that they have just been not eating well since they looked weak, always coughing and have a really high fever. When they were brought to the hospital for examination, they started to act weird. They thrashed and squirmed like crazy and would always try to bite the doctors. Unfortunately, two of the doctors were bitten and they too started acting like maniacs after just 2 minutes. And that day, the end of the world, or as what others called the doomsday, started. People panicked and started forming alliances to survive. Those who have been fortunate enough to survive the virus and obtained special powers were respected and feared by the normal people.
You might think that I am one of the supernatural humans huh. But unfortunately, I am just like the others who are normal and rely on others to survive. However, unlike them I am also part of the groups that go into the frontline to fight against the zombies and to look for resources.
I thought that I could survive with my skills in combative and long range shots but I never thought that I would be betrayed by the person that I consider as my sister and my fiance. Chloe, that bitch! She coerced with my fiance to kill me just to distract my friend, Liam. They knew that he had feelings for me and would never let me get hurt, they were also afraid and threatened by his presence since he is the only one that received three powers that are very rare.
During one of the missions they deliberately led 6 high level zombies into our direction and left us to deal with it. Our team was wiped out and only Liam and I are left but thankfully, there are only 2 high level zombies left and one of them is badly injured. We were about to take them out when suddenly, Dylan, my fiance or should I say EX- FIANCE, pulled out a gun and shot me right through my heart. This caused Liam to be distracted and be bitten by the only zombie left. I asked for help from Chloe but she just stared and smirked at me saying that I deserved it for taking what's hers.
They left us both dying after that, Liam, I know that he won't survive this time because Dylan shoved a poison, that would slow the healing speed of supernatural beings, down his throat. I also know that I wouldn't survive because the gun pierced my heart badly, but I also don't want to Dylan to suffer being a zombie so with a heavy hurt I shot him in the head not before saying my regrets and wishes for us to meet again in the next life.
Looking at Dylan's dead body, I felt myself tear and and wanted to curse those two moron for everything that they did. I looked up when I heard a noise and saw a hoard of zombies coming our way. I didn't want Dylan nor me being eaten by thoseonsters, so I used my powers, the one that I have been hiding all these years, to light us both on fire.
As I feel the heat and felt myself slowly dying, I held Dylan's body tighter and kisses his lips saying that I would see him in our next life and that I would surely choose him. I closed my eyes after that and let the fire consume us both.
When I opened my eyes, I saw that I was in a white space?
" What am I doing here? I thought I died. Is this the.... afterlife?"
"Well not really, this is not the afterlife. Actually this is just a place where souls are being sent to when they have deep regrets and deserve another chance"
Startled by the sudden voice I looked around and saw a white ball of light? It was glowing and was moving closer to me.
"Did-did you just talk and di you just read my mind!?," I stuttered out.
" Yes, I am a seraphim, I am one of the angels that guide and protect the humans and you were the one that I was tasked to protect," it? Said in a guilty voice.
"Tasked to protect me? From what?" I asked.
"From the evils of the world, to make sure that you follow the path that you were meant to live," it said.
"Wait-wait. So you mean that you were meant to protect me and to make sure that I love a good life." I said
"Yes"
"Then why did I have to suffer, why did I die if you were supposed to be there protecting me huh!!!" I angrily said to it with tears running through my eyes.
It looked away guiltily and said " I thought that you were doing alright and that you wouldn't need me since you were living a good life for eighteen years and that was my mistake, I know. And I want to make it up with you"
"Make it up with me?! How?!," I asked though I still felt angry.
" Well I offer you two options. One, you can go to another dimension and live another life. This time a good life filled with happiness and richness. Or two, you can go back to your world, way before the doomsday began." It bargained.
With the second option I looked at him intently and asked what was on my mind.
" Can I still have my memories and can I see Liam again?"
"Yes, your memories will still be with you and you will have a chance to see and be with Liam again." It said.
With the mention of Liam's name, my memories with him resurfaced. And as I thought of our bad ending, I wanted to change it, to change his ending and tp make sure that he lives a good life even despite the doomsday. So I chose the second option.
