I could tell with the way he looked at me as he came closer that my refusal surprised him.
But I honestly couldn't care less right now.
I just wanted my money
"I'm sorry about this boss il show her her way out immediately". mark said already advancing towards me but a raise of Lucas's hand brought him to a halt.
"There will be no need for that" Lucas said ad he drew closer to me his deep and cold voice sending light shivers around my body.
I watched as his deep blue eyes stared into mine making me lost in them. Another step then another again hr came closer till I could feel the heat from his unbuttoned collar making me unconsciously take a step back. But I didn't want to show his intimidation to me. So I tried to maintained my calm demeanor
"You aren't interested in me?" He asked with a calm but cold voice. He couldn't have possibly thought I was like every woman who would want to throw themselves on him right? Cause if that's what he thinks, he's in for a huge disappointment.
" I shook my head trying to keep my expression neutral "I'm sorry I don't just marry strangers". I said looking him in the eye.
"Stranger". He repeated as his gaze lingered on me for a moment before turning to mark. Well It seems we have a little problem on our hands".
Mark hesitated before speaking up. "Um Sir, perhaps we should—"
Lucas cut him off again before he could continue his statement. "I think it's time we showed our guest the true nature of this... arrangement.
With a nod, mark made his way backstage.
"What about me mr Lucas?" The lady beside me asked with a worried smile making every one take a glance at her. She was literally forgotten at the moment.
"Oh yes. Attend to her?" Lucas said as one of the guards immediately demonstrated for her to leave the hall.
"Please mam your transfer will be made in the next hour you may —".
"Don't you dare touch me" !! She screamed cutting the young man short.
"Do I look like I care about your money?" Im fucking rich you idiot"! She burst out in rage.
She ran towards Lucas immediately but was held back by guards before she could touch him. You're the only thing missing in my life
She screamed repeatedly as some couple of his men carried her against her will towards the exit
"You are mine Lucas Ross.. MINE" !! Her voice echoed in the empty hall.
Lucas didn't even flinch maintaining that plane expression he seemed to always have on even on TV.
This was probably something he saw almost everyday which was understandable, but right now I was already getting stressed about this whole thing.
But before I could speak up again some guards stepped in with a silver Briefcase. And with Lucas's instructions they opened it revealing a clip of paperwork and a pen in it.
A guard held up the briefcase like a desk, while another handed me the pen. My gaze met Lucas's.
"Sign," he said, his eyes locked on mine as one of his men held a lighter to a big cigar in between his lips "Quickly, I'm a busy man."
I scoffed.
"Is this supposed to be a joke?" You just see a woman for the first time and you are asking her to marry you?"
I took a moment to scan the papers, my eyes widening as I realized it was a contract for marriage.
"I'm not signing anything. This is madness". I said as i took steps from the briefcase. "Just give me my money, for fuck's sake, and I'll be on my way. None of this was part of the plan."
I noticed the atmosphere growing thicker, heavier. And like my eyes just opened up, i realized that i was the only woman amidst a group of men, making a sense of unease creep in instantly. I knew I had to leave fast but also wisely.
Whenever my instincts warned, i never took them for granted.
I dropped the pen and turned to jump down from the stage to make a run for it but as I spun around, I met the cold, hard barrel of a Glock pressed against my forehead. One of the guards, his brawny arm flexed, demonstrating his strength.
"I'm sorry, ma'am," he said, his voice firm but polite. "I can't let you leave. You have to do as my boss said: sign the papers". He said demonstrating with his gaze back at the papers.
I stood frozen I couldn't believe my eyes at the moment.
Shocked almost to death, I was about to beg when Lucas's voice broke the silence, low but with an undercurrent of impatience. "You don't have to worry about your money. Trust me, you'll have more than you can ever imagine. Just sign the goddamn papers…. Okay?" He asked like it was nothing.
I felt a surge of desperation, my eyes fixed on the gun still pressed against my forehead. "What are you doing?" I asked, my voice shaking. "I don't even know you, and you don't even know me. We don't know each other... what's the need for this?"
Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as I stood frozen, the gun still trained on me.
Turn around. He instructed
I turned around, facing him, as instructed. His expression didn't change, his deep blue eyes remaining fixed on me with an unnerving intensity that scared me even more.
"Look you won fair and square. You are my choice, okay?" he said, his voice firm but softer tone this time. "It's just tor about a month and I promise you, I'll let you be afterwards."
For some reason, even in my fear, I believed his words. "Why didn't you just ask?" I asked, my heart still pounding as I realized what I had just said, making me let out a sigh.
It didn't seem like I had a choice in all this right now. I had a billionaire mogul asking me to marry him with a gun to my head.
Preposterous.
I turned back to the man behind me, and, as I feared, he still held the gun to my head. I didn't know why, but I was somehow certain he wouldn't just shoot me even if I refused to sign.
Right?
"Put it down," Lucas said, waving at the man with the gun. "I'm sure we both have an understanding now."
The man behind me lowered his weapon as Lucas picked up the pen from the briefcase and handed it to me again, looking me in the eye.
"Now, sign the papers," he said, his voice firm but polite.
I took a deep breath, my hand shaking as placed my hand on the papers.
I couldn't believe this was happening. I was signing my self into a marriage I knew nothing about.
In a few minutes I had placed my signature where it was needed on the paper as mark took them and placed them back in the briefcase.
"Good," Lucas said, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction.
"Now, my men will help you to the car," He instructed. "We have a dinner to attend, and we need to be there first thing in the morning do you are going to need all the rest you can get". Lucas said, walking towards the exit of the stage.
I laughed, a mix of fear and desperation making him turn back at him. "What makes you think I would want to follow you to this dinner?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
Lucas's smile grew wider, his eyes looking deep into mine. "You're not going to follow me, my dear," he said, his voice filled with condescension.
"You're going to accompany me. As my wife."
