The Flutter Scourge varied in size, appearance, and characteristics from one individual to another.
The creature before Mugeon was slightly smaller than him, had an elongated, snake-like body adorned with multiple wings stretching from head to tail.
Strangely, only the wings attached near the creature’s body were flapping actively, while the rest remained still, suggesting that they were either non-functional or simply unnecessary.
Also, the creature didn’t seem to have eyes, which made it more frightening in some way.
Yet, it was clearly facing Mugeon, as if it could see him perfectly.
Perhaps it relied on sound or smell to locate its prey.
Then, the Flutter Scourge screeched again.
“Shrieeeek!”
The sound resembled not so much a bird’s call as the creaking of an old, rusted hinge.
The instant Mugeon heard the cry, chills ran down his spine.
And right in sync with his foreboding, the misfortune he sensed began to take a tangible form.
